Especially knowing about the things happening ever since Roe v. Wade was revoked and all the things mentioned in Project 2025. On the other hand, at this point I do believe most people lie in those polls. And if it wasn't for the electoral college this race would not even be close and we would watch Trump speeches more as the cooky ideas of an old man, that should be under supervision. Quote

Many many many women in USA are Pro-Life for religious beliefs. All of them are Republicans. No matter who would be the candidate they would vote Republican for this reason alone. Quote

Or those women themselves hopefully don't end up in an abusive marriage. They may spend the rest of their lifes with their abusive husbands or they decide to live in poverty if they leave them. But you get what you vote for, I guess. Some people are just so short-sighted. And some are just incredibly dumb. Quote

MadFan Posted July 23 Posted July 23 A lot of women are deeply religious and against abortion and a LOT of white women are racist as hell. Which we don't talk about enough. There's a lot of cultural dialogue around the straight white man in this regard (and rightly so), but not nearly enough about his wife imo. If I had to predict, white women will mostly vote for Trump, just like last time. Quote
Kurt420 Posted July 23 Posted July 23 MAGA has amp'd up their racist and misogynistic rants the past couple of days. By their standards, they were semi-quiet for a couple of weeks post debate so yup Kamala def got them at least a little bit shook. I have to say, seeing the reception she's getting, feeling the positive energy, knowing how much $$ she's raising and watching and listening to her speak now as a Presidential candidate with such command and clarity has me feeling a lot more optimistic. Love the whole framing of this as the Prosecutor vs the felon. She will absolutely eviscerate Trump in a debate. I don't care what anyone says, a "demented" (as people like to allege) Biden as recently as two weeks ago gave a better , more substantive speech than Trump has given in his entire political career. Trump's whole campaign was designed to go after that "old demented man" and now HE is the "old demented man" of the race. Believe me, I'm under no delusion that this is going to be an easy win. It won't be. For the first time though since this whole discussion of Biden stepping down started, I feel optimistic that switching it up even in this late stage, a win is possible. Quote

She had no woman in her first cabinets and never appointed a woman to any key government job in her entire 11 years as prime minister. Queen Victoria loathed the idea of woman getting the vote. There are plenty of right wing woman! Quote

That’s what corporate media led people to believe and unfortunately ever since 2016, that’s the idea many people have of Trump voters. I think some are also voting for Trump this time around having experienced both Trump and Biden before and they would rather have Trump. btw wether it’s Mamala or Biden it will be the continuation of the same. The president is just the face front most decisions are being made by the people in the back. oh and big chance they will swap out Mamala with another woman at the convention.. enter Hilbilly. Quote

I am so grateful that Europe had the period of enlightment and religion became a less defining thing in peoples lifes. The human came forward and God had to step in the background or disappear. People understood that the development of a society and ones own development should not be defined by or depend on a higher power. A realization that brought immense progress in all kinds of life. Today in Europe, even those who consider themselves religious, mostly Christians (Catholic and Protestant) do not have religion as the centre of their lifes and most definitely take everything the church says with a grain of salt. Afterall, the history of Christianity in Europe is filled with violence and hate. Especially the organized religion has shown to be on the wrong side of history over and over again. At this point, in Europe more people visit churches for the architecture and great acoustics but less for religious activities. In Germany, the day the most people go to church is Christmas Eve. And most people go merely for the "show", the songs, the nice decoration. The only thing the Church has been really good at, are the arts. This I can acknowledge. Quote

And yet they can never explain what was so much better during Trumps presidency. All they come up with is nonsense. None of it is based on facts. Their wording says it all: "I believe" or "I feel". They all fall for the proganda coming from Trump and his minions incl. the media that is in bed with him, most above all those right-wing influencers in social media. Never in my life have I seen such hateful people, all of them disingenous to say the least. At this point, everyone who votes for Trump is MAGA. At this point we know what Trump and the Republican Party (by name only) stands for and what they plan. Everyone who says otherwise, is just pretending. Well, they may already look for an excuse once shit hits the fan and Project 2025 becomes a reality. It is Trumps clientele that will be hit the most. "We did not know". As someone from Germany, this has my alarm bells ringing. How many people after the WW2 made that claim? Of course, how could they know there was a concentration camp nearby. The smoke from the smoke sticks, but there was no factory. The lovely smell in the air when the wind came from a certain direction. And what about that entry in the telephone book? Sorry, "We did not know" or "I did not know" will not fly with me. If you don't know, educate yourself! But here comes the next problem: education in the U.S. is so bad overall and unsurprisingly the states that rank the worst on education (and on many other criteria) are red states. Is this a coincidence? I don't think so. I am sure politicians in those states keep their citizens intentionally dumb. I will say it as it is: Trump voters are stupid assholes. Period. Democrats should not waste their time on those voters. At this point they are a lost cause. They are like alcoholics or drug addicts. They need to realize for themselves they need to change. Strengthen your base and look after the undecided, who tend to be more liberal anyway. If Democrats wish to entertain the idea of "Unity" then unite the so called left and middle first and foremost. JR! Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Who do you think Kamala should pick as VP? Her options are very good! Mark Kelly had no plans to become a politician before his congresswoman wife was shot. Years later his wife is still not the same, her speech and movement were heavily affected by that shot to the head. He stuck by her, and in some ways had to become her voice. We need a person who never sought it out, who isn’t like the other politicians we’re so sick of who just want the power. And I want a guy who sticks around no matter what. He’s that guy for me. Here’s a good article if you’re interested: Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly once said he never aspired to politics, but ‘I do get asked a lot’ Quote

So true. Not all Trump voters fit the MAGA stereotype seen on tv or social media. Many vote for economic or other reasons. There's some very interesting videos online of people with different political views from all demographics debating each other.. (check "Middle Ground" on youtube). I know this is anecdotal, so maybe a little meaningless, but I personally know of a Cuban family in the US and the mother will vote for Trump. Her son is very close to her.. and guess what? he's gay (and votes democrat). Here in Europe, a bisexual friend of mine who uses gender pronouns votes right. Another friend, a progressive POC from a Muslim background, also votes right. I think we all know people who vote right despite not fitting the typical image. Quote

The #1 issue to Americans is the economy/inflation. And I think there's a good amount of Trump voters in the States shrugging their shoulders voting for him thinking: Yeah he's an asshole but I remember being better off under him and what exactly do the Democrats have to offer? To me it's imperative Kamala articulates some of Biden's accomplishments with jobs and what she could do for working/middle class families. Without the vibe of you're too dumb to know better if you think otherwise. Quote

Without the vibe of you're too dumb to know better if you think otherwise. Interestingly you always only hear people telling Democrats that. Democrats wihile adressing right-wing voters need to be lenient, need to be thoughtful, need to be respectful. How about the other side. They are the most agressive bunch of people out there. In fact they are getting even more agressive ever since that shooting at Trumps rally and Harris nomination. And let's face it, many of those people are dumb. And even worse, wilfully ignorant. Those are the people Trump meant when he once said, he loves the uneducated. They are useful idiots. To top that, many of those also seem to have a disdain for knowledge. They seem to enjoy their lack of knowledge as if knowledge or education in general is something bad and stupidity is something to be celebrated. How do you have a discussion with someone who does a) not understand or b) does not want to understand? Why waste your time? I have said it before, those right-wing voters are the ones to need to come around at some point, not the Democrats. All the Democrats need to do, is to do politics that supports the working/middle class. Something they are already doing and I can see them doing a lot more if they stay in power by passing respective laws. Contrary to Republicans who will pass laws that will hurt U.S. American people. That's all Democrats can do at this point. Quote
Confessit Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I think Harris can give Trump a run for his money. She communicates very well and I welcome the up and coming debates. But I do think Trumps hold is to strong now for it to swing round to a democratic win Quote
runa Posted July 25 Posted July 25 People thinking Trump would have done better for inflation are just idiots. This is not how it works. Quote
