CBS News: President Trump celebrated a Supreme Court ruling limiting the ability of federal judges to use nationwide injunctions to constrain government actions, in a case linked to his attempt to ban birthright citizenship.
Speaking at the White House Friday, he said the decision allows them to move forward with policies, including his effort to end birthright citizenship, which the president said was “meant for the babies of slaves.”
The court's ruling came in a trio of emergency appeals by the Trump administration arising out of the president's executive order seeking to end the 14th Amendment's guarantee of birthright citizenship. The Justice Department asked the Supreme Court to narrow the scope of three separate injunctions that blocked implementation of the president's policy nationwide while legal challenges moved forward.
