I hope the Dems wake the fuck up, kick out Schumer and Jeffries and then get new leadership which meets these fascist times. Like really.

Yep! It's PAINFUL watching the likes of Schumer, Jeffries etc try to meet this moment by using the same tired playbook....it's not happening. It's time to let AOC, Jasmin Crockett, Maxwell Frost, Chris Murphy....even fucking Bernie take the lead at this point. We're not going to gain anything at all by bringing paper balls to this fight where the Republicans are front line with assault rifles. Even six months ago, I could get on board with the more "middle of the road" approach but now? NOPE. Fuck them.

Rosie O'Donnel on Trump and moving to Ireland:

My god Rosie looks fantastic! Best she's looked and sounded in ages.

I think it's more moving OUT of the malignant US than moving to Ireland as great as that country is.

President Donald Trump’s executive order requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections — which also includes an array of other changes, from mail-in ballot deadlines to election equipment — could risk disenfranchising tens of millions of Americans.

Election law experts questioned whether Trump had the authority to make the changes, saying the order is all but certain to be met with legal challenges.

Federal law currently requires that voters swear under penalty of perjury that they are citizens and eligible to vote when they register, and courts have prevented states from adding documentary proof-of-citizenship requirements for voters in federal races because of such laws.

So that he says to his dumb base: look I tried it, but the Obama/woke/ultraleft judges sabotage me, my ideas of pure (and white) US. There is ALOT he can gain from this.

Fun fact: The ID thing to vote is very much how it is done almost everywhere. The U.S. in its belief to be so outstanding and because of freedom (blah, blah, blah) think it is a good idea to have elections that appear highly disorganized from a European point of view. In Germany all citizens are officialy registred with a home adress. In result all citizens eligible to vote get an invitation to vote by mail automatically with all the information when to vote and where your voting office is. Also how to vote by mail, if neccessary. To cast your vote you have to show your ID or your passport. It is really not that difficult. And I personally have never heard of accusations of voter fraud. It all comes down to a general requirement to register your home adress. Something the U.S. does not have. Again ... freedom.

Joanne Liu, a renowned Canadian scientist who worked for Doctors Without Borders, was scheduled to give a lecture at NYU.

Just minutes before taking the stage, she was informed that she was no longer welcome at the university and had to leave immediately.
Her crime: mentioning in her PowerPoint presentation the number of doctors killed in Gaza.

Self-censorship in the United States, driven by the fear of losing government funding, is absolutely terrible and must be condemned. If Trump is attacking universities, it is horrifying, and believe me, it is the beginning of the end. To avoid drawing attention from the White House and the operatives in the Departments of Justice and Education, who are conducting a veritable witch hunt across some sixty universities, thousands of intellectuals are self-censoring and remaining silent.

It is hard not to think of the famous quote by philosopher Martin Niemöller, written in 1947:

“First they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me.”

USA, it's time to wake up !

In Mexico your official i.d. IS your voting card. Period. The end. It’s all one streamlined process across the entire country and it sounds like what you mentioned in Germany, tied to your home address.

Here you have to register when you get your driver’s license, or when you register to with your political party (something along those lines), and it changes by state. I just did a google search, and there’s a register to vote site for Washington state (where I live) and separately there’s vote.gov, but the latter just tells you how to fill out your form, print it and send it to Washington state 🥴

It’s extremely confusing, demotivating and these I.d. Laws disproportionately impact marginalized communities, aka those who largely vote blue. The whole system is designed to keep voters out.

The delusions of politicians and Fox anchors in the U.S. are downright shocking and disgusting. They think they were ""being nice" to other countries when all things they were doing ever since the end of WWII was in the sole interest of the U.S.. It was about influence and access to foreign markets to expand militarily and economically. People tend to forget that the rise of the U.S. to the most powerful and wealthy country only started with the end of WWII. Before that, the U.S. were hardly more powerful than the UK and Germany. In fact, socio-economically Germany was light years ahead of the U.S., keep in mind the foundations of universal heathcare and other social programmes go back almost 150 years, surviving two world wars and probably the worst inflation the world has ever seen. (And still the U.S. in 2025 believes universal healthcare is unsustainable). Anyway, those people believe they don't need "friends", well I use that term lightly, "customer" might be the correct term, I am not sure they really want to find out the consequence of being alone out there, in a world that has no appreciation for the current U.S. government, in a world where there are quite a few countries and organizations that downright hate the U.S. and its people, that still have an axe to grind. No friends, no allies means no access to foreign intelligence. I wonder how many terrorist attacks on the U.S. have been stopped because of prior information from allied intelligence agencies? An attack on U.S. ground may be inevitable at some point. But I am sure they U.S. government will find ways to spin such event to their advantage. No consequence for their very own doing. They will blame everyone else and will use it to dismantle the U.S. even further. The people of the U.S. can say goodbye to the freedoms they allegedly have, that protect them from their government. At this moment, the similarities to 1933 Germany are too obvious. Just wait, give it a few months and the U.S. will get its very own "Ermächtigungsgesetz". People need to wake up quickly.

Pres. Trump did not rule out seeking a third term for president, telling NBC’s Kristen Welker on Sunday, “There are methods which you could do it."

NBC News asked Trump about a possible scenario in which Vice Pres. JD Vance would run for office and then pass the role to Trump. The president responded by saying “that’s one” method.

If he was a smart dictator, he would run as JD‘s VP in the next election and then after of course being tired from all the winning JD steps down and America‘s Hitler gets his third term.

It’s perfectly said. Also to write off trying to negotiate and get along with states, which has worked for 80ty years, especially in Europe and to try to turn the clock to pre ww1 state of international affairs is shortsighted, immature, imbecile and pretty dumb. It didn’t work then, it won’t work now. At least EU, Canada, UK, Japan, Australia seem to remember history.
