I know you all hate Trump and the right wing conservatives worldwide from the politics threads so bringing some good news about Australia completely rejecting the right wing parties - some who were using Trump's playbook tactics.   First Canada and now Australia in the last couple of weeks.  Some good news

Nice to hear! I hope that My Brazil will say no again to the clowns who support Trump here.

so, is it positive that he can´t be another four years? I mean, he can´t change that law, can he?

Unless he changes the US Constitution which is very hard thing to do, I d say impossible in this case. No blue state would ratify it even if by some miracle it passes through congress. He could always use other tactics like invoking martial law to stay longer. I will not be surprised at all. Of course theoretically it could lead to riots and protests. On that note, it seems California has started a process of cessation of USA. I don’t think it would come to it, but theoretically a Cali exit could result in the country becoming Giliad and I don’t see most progressive states staying either.

there are two ways, without having to change the constitution:

    1. he gets the Supreme Court to re-interpret the 22nd amendment to only apply to 2 consecutive terms. (<10% chance, but given the SC's recent decisions on Roe and immunity, not impossible)

    2. he stands in the next election as Vice President, on the understanding that whoever is elected as President would then resign and let him take over. (<5% chance given the 12th amendment and the need for a willing stooge, but you never know with this guy!)

I do think he can convince democrats to allow a 3rd term. In this case, democrats would support because of Obama. But I can't tell if Trump is brave enough to fight Obama himself.

  3. The first 3 days of Trump's presidency was only about hateful speech, going after trans people and LGBTQ+ community and going after immigrants. People preferred to vote because of the price of eggs and not because of democracy and other issues.

But Trump did nothing to address the price of grocerys. He is only attacking people and spreading the chaos.

Honestly, it is impossible to be a Madonna fan, to know her trajetory and support a monster like this.

Seems it goes that way sofar. Harris campaign seems in a panic mode, because the black men and latinos do not support Harris as much as they did Biden in 2020. It seems Trump would win if something doesn't change soon in Harris side. That's why she is doing lots of media appearances since last week.

Fight for the vote of groups you need is not panic mode. This is just like doing what is needed.

Who’s that best candidate you’re referring to?

Kamala Harris of course, because she isn't an extremist and is the one who can win. Any other option favours Trump.

And with Trump saying out loud that he means to install a dictatorship, there's no doubt about the best candidate.

    :manson:!

And yet there are still people who believe Project 2025 is a scare tactic that won't ever come to fruition. And worse still, left-leaning people who want to sit this one out because there's not a unicorn candidate on the Democratic ticket. Open your eyes people!

It's wild how leftists prefer to lose democracy than vote in the best candidate, even if that person isn't perfect.

The perfect candidate will never exist, so what those people want?

the new york times , the boston globe and now the economist are all urging biden to quit ,i don't think they are pro Trump media outlets

I get that they have the right to urge Biden to quit. But why they're not making the same for Trump, who is a real threat to democracy? Why his speech against woman, black people, LGBTQ+ community is not on the covers?

Harris is a great debater but also yes an awful orator/public speaker. Good enough though to wipe the floor in a debate with the wannabe dictator. Legally she is the only one who could inherit and use the DNC campaign money and fund a potential presidential campaign for herself if Biden decides to drop out of the race. Anyone else could not because the donations were given to the Biden/Harris campaign. So replacing him with any wet dream candidate comes with major obstacles which are not benign.

Having said that, I do not believe he will be replaced. The RNC also stands by their candidate who is a convicted felon by now for crying out loud, He is only three years younger than Biden and clearly is overweight. The Republicans stand in line, they are holding the line. Eyes on the prize. Leave it to democrats to fuck it up thanks to in-house fighting and being distracted. So as @Raider of the lost Ark already mentioned, the choice is clear. Do you vote for pro democracy or fascism? And if you wish to sit this one out or even vote for orange Mussolini or a third party candidate then the US deserves what is coming to them, a fascist - or at least autocratic state. Good luck being gay, a person of color, a woman or someone who opposes the party line. But sure let's concentrate on Biden's age or a fictional fantasy candidate who will not show up in the last minute to save us. .

    Right!!!

It's not that hard. Doesn't matter how old, unlikeble or whatever the other choice is, we NEVER vote for fascism, racism, LGBTQphobia, etc. It is a simple choice. And the Biden administration is an administration! Even with he crumbles, are plenty people for the job. Even Kamala, who is the presumptive replacement, is on the way for the house as vice president. How can people want Kamala but don't vote for Biden because he is frail. LOL, it's the easiest way to get Kamala president then!

I hope people will not equal facism and dictatorship with advanced age.
