Don’t underestimate the fact that huge amount of Russians are brainwashed to believe he is restoring RU might, fighting the West that humiliated RU and that all prowestern ppl in Russia are traitors. This has been going on since 2007. I d think he has really “won” the election, not that there were any candidates that were really in opposition to him.

I don’t underestimate it. I know he would have won the election even without all the manipulation. But it shows how insecure he is. He doesn’t trust anyone at this point. At least it seems like it. He can’t go anywhere public without days or weeks of preparation. And he knows there’s still opposition out there. The Wagner coup pushed him over the edge it seems.

    I don’t think he’s got 6 years to live

He can’t even visit the place where the terrorist attack happened in the very city he (probably) lives and works in. Can’t show his face in public and on the streets. He lives in constant fear. Serves him right. I bet he thinks the whole attack was a trap to get him out of his cave.

There are millions of people demonstrating against AfD right now in Germany. Today I was demonstrating in Leipzig. There musr have been 50 - 60 thousand people.

Yes, it’s particularly great to see the Demos in the East. I’ve been to the Demo in Berlin and it was packed. We need to continue protesting.

I can’t wait for this old guard to fuck off and die off. We as a people have moved on in the world but our dear leaders are still fighting in an old world. Their ways of thinking are redundant, not even the US can recruit the numbers they need into their army’s anymore, no matter the amount of boogeyman tactics they use. Every city around the world the people are out in support of Palestine, is support of peace, nobody wants their stupid, greedy, selfish wars. We are ran by geriatrics whose politics belong in the 50s. I do believe people are generally good but we are being led by the few, for the few and it needs to stop once and for all!

I hope this is true because I’m mostly thinking the same. But I’m not so sure since there’s so many young people with extreme archaic beliefs and zero intellectual transfer capability. But it’s shocking how old the old guard truly is. And then there’s this extra large group of first wave boomers like my parents, I don’t even want to know what they really vote for this time around. They are nothing but frightened all the time. Makes me so mad.

We never learn from History, unfortunately. We live in frightening times.

Absolutely frightening. You can see how they cross a line every day. Every day a new (formerly unthinkable) opinion is out their, gaining traction and acceptance. It’s all happening so fast!! I’d never thought I’d have to experience this in my lifetime.

  6. Shockingly (but not surprisingly) Germany's far right in very much paralleled fashion held a secret meeting back in November. It’s the biggest, most upsetting news today here in Germany, which in itself is already an achievement. I’m spiraling tbh.

„Politicians from Germany’s far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party, including a personal aide to its leader Alice Weidel, met the head of the rightwing extremist Identitarian Movement and neo-Nazi activists to discuss a “masterplan” for mass deportations in the event of the party coming to power, it has been reported.“

I get upset whenever I read news about children being abused / shoot... it's so inhumane! I wonder how these ppl sleep at night?

If they had any problem with sleeping because of it, they’d never done it in the first place. It’s just humans being monsters, nothing new sadly. Can you even fathom the terrible things people did to each other (and to little children in particular) during the thousands of years of human existence? I sometimes come across such stories in history podcasts, the few documented crimes that we still know of. You can calculate how many more there must have been, unheard of, undocumented, totally undetected.

He is a soulless dictator. Nobody is surprised. Turkey was already a far far worse country than 10 years ago before the earthquake. He is simply useless.

I really hoped that maybe this could ‚help‘ bring Erdogan and Assad down. Maybe a tiny positive development amidst all this devastation. But they will spin the narrative in their favor as always. I expect Erdogan to shift the blame on EU somehow.

Terrifying.  Fascinating that it happened in the same spot where they filmed the movie of the novel.  As you said Lolo,  it is life imitating art.

I feel so bad for the people, obviously because of the actual disaster but also if it was me I’d definitely think this is karma and I have somewhat manifested this tragedy. You know what I mean? I’m sure some of the people there think like that, that they are somehow responsible, when they’re really not.

And yes, from what I gathered the officials covered this up as long as they could. Chernobyl comes to mind.

  10. This is so crazy and scary at the same time. I was watching the movie White Noise a couple of weeks ago, didn’t finish though because I thought it was boring. The movie opens with a train explosion, some sort of toxic stuff gets blown into the air and spreads via the heavy smoke.

When I heard about the explosion in Ohio I immediately thought ‘haven’t I just seen the exact same thing in a movie??’
And now I learned that production partly took place in the same spot, where the actual disaster happened now. This is honestly kind of mindblowing and I feel so sorry for the people living there.

After a train derailment, Ohio residents are living the plot of a movie they helped make

I don’t feel interest for Tiktok either. I prefer tumblr to have a laugh and instagram to pass the time. I read Twitter to know what’s happening (and porn :chuckle: ).

I still have my tumblr account. It’s so peaceful there. 🤣 though I noticed a lot of people returned in the last two weeks, at least in the bubble I’m active. It’s interesting.

@Kim @Lolo   and all fans of Succession.   This made me laugh.  Succession does British politics

    :lmao: Love it.

there is a series on Sky right now that’s called ‘This England’ and it’s about Boris Johnson’s time as PM. I only watched two episodes but I quite liked it. It’s based around Brexit and COVID. All these things happening and he is quoting Shakespeare and tales from Greek mythology, I thought it was hilarious. Extremely entertaining.
