Nikki Posted January 28 Posted January 28 this pissed me off.. ignoring all of trump's wrongdoings to whine about the same thing over and over again, and thereby playing into MAGA's narrative of demonizing the left and taking away attention from real issues Quote
SOON Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Waiting for the MAGA GOP and Trump to announce that they’re going to remove child labor laws. Rep. Rich McCormick defended the impacts of the White House's federal aid freeze on school lunch programs by suggesting that some children should be working instead of receiving free lunch. During an interview on CNN, McCormick praised the move as a way to broadly re-evaluate how the government allocates funding. "You’re telling me that kids who stay at home instead of going to work at Burger King, McDonald’s, during the summer, should stay at home and get their free lunch instead of going to work? I think we need to have a top-down review." McCormick said that the pause on federal funds gives the government a chance to "see where is the money really being spent." SOON Posted January 29 Posted January 29 President Donald Trump's administration is set to offer every single federal worker the chance to take a "deferred resignation" with a severance package of roughly eight months of pay and benefits. A senior administration official told NBC News that they expect 5%-10% of the federal workforce to quit, which, they estimate, could lead to around $100 billion in savings. NY Times: The Trump administration issued a waiver for lifesaving medicines and medical services, offering a reprieve for a worldwide HIV treatment program that was halted last week. The waiver seemed to allow for the distribution of HIV medications, but whether the waiver extended to preventive drugs or other services offered by the program was not immediately clear. Quote

These are all executive orders. None of it is permanent. The second his 4 years are over it’ll get undone. Democrats will be energized in 2 years, win back congress, and block that stupid whiny little vindictive bitch. Also, the gop has a slim majority in congress. They’re going to get next to nothing done. These next two years. Quote
promise to try Posted January 29 Posted January 29 so, is it positive that he can´t be another four years? I mean, he can´t change that law, can he? Quote

Unless he changes the US Constitution which is very hard thing to do, I d say impossible in this case. No blue state would ratify it even if by some miracle it passes through congress. He could always use other tactics like invoking martial law to stay longer. I will not be surprised at all. Of course theoretically it could lead to riots and protests. On that note, it seems California has started a process of cessation of USA. I don’t think it would come to it, but theoretically a Cali exit could result in the country becoming Giliad and I don’t see most progressive states staying either. Quote

I mean, he can´t change that law, can he? there are two ways, without having to change the constitution: 1. he gets the Supreme Court to re-interpret the 22nd amendment to only apply to 2 consecutive terms. (<10% chance, but given the SC's recent decisions on Roe and immunity, not impossible) 2. he stands in the next election as Vice President, on the understanding that whoever is elected as President would then resign and let him take over. (<5% chance given the 12th amendment and the need for a willing stooge, but you never know with this guy!) Quote

In this case, democrats would support because of Obama. But I can't tell if Trump is brave enough to fight Obama himself. Quote

Raider of the lost Ark Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I wonder how all of those Middle East citizens feel now since they have had such huge issue with "Genocide Biden". Those who voted for Trump. Well, they will claim they voted for Jill Stein. Which was basically a vote for Trump and they knew it. Trump is pro Arab? Sure. Pro-Saudi Arabia! Pro Palestine? Never was, never will. Biden sanctions on illegal Israeli settlers lifted, sanctions on heavy bombs lifted, an ambassador who is super evangelical who denies a place called Palestine even exists and Trump-Kushner construction most likely has building plans for Gaza already drawn up. And I am pretty sure a muslim ban for the U.S. is just around the corner. I guess there will be a lot of FAFO moments. Quote

"Is this what we lived through, then? But we lived as usual. Everyone does, most of the time. Whatever is going on is as usual. Even this is as usual, now. We lived, as usual, by ignoring. Ignoring isn’t the same as ignorance, you have to work at it. Nothing changes instantaneously: in a gradually heating bathtub, you’d be boiled to death before you knew it. There were stories in the newspapers, of course, corpses in ditches or the woods, bludgeoned to death or mutilated, abstracted as they used to say, but they were about other women, and the men who did such things were other men. None of them were the men we knew. The newspaper stories were like bad dreams dreamed by others. We were the people who were not in the papers. We lived in the blank white spaces at the edges of print. It gave us more freedom. We lived in the gaps between the stories." - Margaret Atwood, 1985. Quote
