Maybe East and West Coast of USA should join Canada (civilised world) and form a progressive unified country and leave the middle (Gilead) to became an authothorian shithole that the majority there want?

In the meantime Elon Musk has now access to all the data of the U.S. treasury. Remember he holds no official position in this governement, he was not voted into any office. Most likely has no government security clearance. Also remember, we are talking about a guy that has no access to the most secret stuff at Space X, basically his very own company. There are reports, another of his tech bros from Silicon Valley was granted access. I bet, this is about Peter Thiel. Ever heard of Palantir and what they do? I suppose, the U.S. is about to enter an age where the government can spy its citizens officially.

And as @Lolo said, where are the protests, the demonstrations in the U.S.? Not there, because the consequence of Trumps executive orders cannot be felt yet, except for so called illegal immigrants? It may be to late at some point.

In the meantime 100s of thousands of German people are on the street, making their voices heard that we don't want right-wing politics. And here, democracy actually worked because the law that was supposed to be passed, passed only with the help of the AfD, failed to get a majority in parliament. But we had to realize, that we cannot trust the Christian-Conservatives when it comes to policy making any longer. This time it may have been merely one law. But who knows, at some point they may seek a coalition with the AfD to form a government. But I am confident, if this ever happens, there will be a revolution.

Don’t forget that a lot of people in USA agree with Trump. Probably way more than we think. They secretly applaud the massive deportation. They secretly agree with any kind of tariffs. They want to see USA (sorry, I will never call it America, ever again) great again.
There are still a few states with common sense, but most of them are already lost to that "cause".

I mean, I called this before I went down a spiral. He's the greatest negotiator of all time

I'm going to have to figure out a way to detach myself from this over the next 4 years because even if he does the most awful thing in the world, checking the news first thing every morning isn't going to make anything better and it isn't helpful for my or anyone's mental health 🤦‍♂️

where is your outcry America!! they let elon access US treasury and is tweeting about wanting to cancel several federal agency funds "cuz why not".

why are Americans not talking about this?

And while everyone was busy with talking about those tariffs, Elon and his minions were harvesting sensitive, highly classified data, data he should not have any access to in the first place. He has access to the most private information of U.S. citizens and no one seems to be talking about any of this. Again, Musk has no official role in this government. He is basically a private citizens. All of this is highly illegal.

Much of what is going on is a distraction. Much of what Trump is doing right now, he has not even authority to do. Like shutting down USAID. It's Congress' business. Why do I say it's a distraction? Because Trump did the same in his first term. He did or said outrageous things to have media and people talking to keep them busy. In the meantime, he was doing more sinister things. It is basically a cover up. People should look very closely what he may have done this time or who is selling shares at the stock exchange. Maybe it's a huge grift. Announce tariffs, knowing this will crash certain stocks. Once the fraud was done, he is taking the tariffs back for whatever reason. All of this may be a huge manipulation? But guess what, with Trumps minions in all relevant positions that could actually start an investigation (SEC, DOJ, FBI), nothing will happen.

🪄🔮

J/k. I'm really not. This is EXACTLY what he did last time. He makes empty threats (e.g., these tariffs were never going to happen, they would've devastated the U.S. economy). It riles up his fan base. Gets our allies to do things. He call himself a success. His fan base thinks he's a huge success and "actually getting things done unlike Biden."

Also, it's as if he saw a 10 minute video somewhere on Youtube on populism 101, and said "yup. got it."

The other thing I'm not a psychic about that happened the last time and will happen again, his party has a SLIM majority in the house, essentially every single member of the republican party in congress needs to vote for every piece of legislation they try to pass from here on out or they will get nothing done. They're notoriously bad at doing this.

When this whirlwind and chaos of executive orders is behind us, and pissing off of our allies and pseudo mass deportations are behind us which seems to be the only thing he knows how to do and which is all for the glitz and glamor (aka Fox News style populism), his party is going to get nothing done and that's when we'll be back to him just being that big, useless, pathetic little BITCH that left the White House in embarrassment, but everyone forgot about because we have amnesia and are brainwashed.

Yes, that's why I'm not too bothered about him. We got through the last few years of his presidency and I expect he'll leave this one like a flat fart.

I don't think it's Trump the world needs to be concerned about: its the unelected billionaires that are going to tamper with and redesign the American government as they see fit that is a huge worry. The rich are giddy with glee, even people like Gina Reinhardt here in Australia. I think they sense enormous change is possible with this Trump government and I think their basic views on freedom, democracy and the social contract are very different to those of a normal person. Their greed is sociopathic, their human attachments are few, and they have their hands on the levers now.

Its Trump who has allowed the power grab of the billionaires. He is worrisome: he will weaken USA even more, the Western alliance would hopefully survive without USA, he will sell out Ukraine which is a huge blow to Europe... He is ALLOWING the dismantling of the US government. FBI, USAID, Education agency and other agencies would probably cease to exist or wouldn't exist in their current form. USA would be weaken immensely at the end of his term.

True. They also know that Trump being a narcissist and power obsessed moron will gladly lap up their support for his own ego and give them free access to everything.  They will deliberately destroy governments, take them over and model them to only look after the very wealthy.

It is sickening to see Australian billionaires also donating money to Trump but totally expected. Billionaires worldwide always stick together and greed and making more money is always their main agenda in life.

Wouldn't be the perfect time to found something like a "Social Democratic Party of America"? I mean the money to get this off the ground could come from rich people that are actually not sociopaths. I suppose there are several members of the Democrats willing to switch?

The two party system seems ingrained into USA psyche. Not gonna happen. Now that MAGA has taken over the Republicans, the relatively sane one (even preTrump) are only the Democrats. But with that MAGA propaganda in full swing, I don't know if Dems would win in 2026/2028.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday unveiled a deportation agreement with the government of El Salvador, which says it will receive immigrants and asylum seekers of any nationality who are expelled from the United States.

El Salvador also offered to hold U.S. citizens in its prisons for a fee. Such a move would be illegal as the U.S. cannot deport its own citizens.

Rubio praised the agreement as "an act of extraordinary friendship to our country."

Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, a self-described "dictator," has been accused of gross human rights abuses and of violating El Salvador's constitution by remaining in power for a third presidential term. His government has imprisoned tens of thousands of accused gang members in brutal conditions, most without due process.

Isn't interesting? Trump and his administration are starting wars, well only trade wars so far, with allies and at the same time they embrace all those dictatorial countries like El Salvador.

Of course, it makes perfect sense that the U.S. is leaving the UN Human Rights Council. Think about what Trump and Co. are planning? Putting U.S. citizens in prisons in a foreign country. El Salvador, which is basically a dictatorship, that puts its citizens in what is basically a concentration camp. So, not only would that be against the U.S. constitution, it also is in conflict with human rights.

So, are they going to deport them, again, like they did when they created Israel, or just, you know, use gas chambers and all that like the Nazis did? Or a nuke? Or maybe they're going to create a mini Gaza? Give them that little sliver that's connected with Egypt. Or maybe they'll send them to what ever is left over of the west bank concentration camps that mainly American Jewish settlers (no joke, educate yourselves) haven't managed to steal in the last 10-20 years? So many questions.
