It's conceivable that people have had rougher rides on the mental health front because of COVID, but The Epoch Times has private ends to serve and its show of sympathy is the co-opting of people's struggles for little more than purposes of propagation. These issues don't exist to the paper at any other time.

Of course. Similar to how writers for Murdoch papers who were once in the conservative government such as Peta Credlin, now are always using mental health as a reason to want no lockdowns etc. They don’t care about anyone getting sick with COVID or mental health. In reality, they only care about business and economics. When in government, they NEVER wanted any extra funding for mental health and did not give a damn about people’s mental health. The are so transparent and sickening in how they use issues to suit their own agendas when it suits them.

Yes, so true. It drives me nuts. They love to use the opioid crisis as well, saying people are also dying from that, pretending to have such bleeding hearts for the very same people they spend all the rest of their time regarding as subhuman junkies. No shame at all.

They drive me insane. Sadly too, so many fall for their hypocritical bull dust. It makes my blood boil to see right wing journalists and politicians PRETENDING to be all worried about mental health now when they have actively fought against any funding for it previously. Would rather them be straight up honest and say they are interested only in the economy and not trying to fool people that they have any concern over public health and mental health.

Redefining the answer to that age-old question of how low anyone can go. Anecdotal, but the individuals I know who've fallen hook, line, and sinker for the rhetoric are some of the most odious creatures when it comes to these issues, so cue many rolled eyes. As far as the politicians go, either the lack of self-awareness is astonishing or they really think their entire electorates are that dense. Both answers offend me.

Totally.  The pandemic has brought out the very worst in many. Agree with everything you said.

They are so aggressive and abusive. You would think people are asking them to set fire to themselves rather than just asking them to wear a mask inside for their own safety

Thailand is opening up for visitors who have had 2 shots of WHO certified vaccines with shorter quarantine time  and in some cases you don't need to quarantine at all .

Mutual feeling is pretty positive . We will have to wear masks and be cautious but we will have to just co exist with covid now ( as opposed to trying to eradicate it or have zero infection prior .)

Why aren't people getting vaccinated/booster shoots?:imsad: These restrictions shouldn't exist 2 years into this pandemic...

They are, but the vaccine doesn't stop contamination and this is a new variant.

They are.

76.7 % of all Danish residents aged 5 or older have been fully vaccinated, and most of those who are eligible for the booster shot have received that one as well.

Here in Denmark, everyone aged 40 or older can get the booster shot 4.5 months (20 weeks) after their 2nd shot, and so can people aged 18-40 who belong to a high-risk group. People aged 18-40 who don't belong to a risk group can get the booster shot 6 months (26 weeks) after their 2nd shot.

Thank god, this new variant is less virulent

it's less virulent but more contagious than the old variants so more contaminated  individuals will lead to more hospitalizations and deaths

76% is not such a high number.

With Delta it was necessary 90% or more. With Omicron I guess it has to be all population and booster shots to avoid collapse in health systems.

We’re fucked!

Not really. I guess we'll have to wait until there is s strain that is far less virulent but highly contagious, like happened 100 years ago. It's clear our society fucked up even though we had all the tools. Maybe in 2119 they are more intelligent.

From your mouth to God’s ears! I sort of have lost faith in humanity after very good friends and family members became anti-vaxers this year. They are college educated people and yet here we are.
Maybe a good old mandate - no exceptions - which forces you to get this vaccine so that we don’t overwhelm the healthcare system and we don’t help to create new strains of the virus wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all. I don’t know.
