Although I agree with your sentiment, I think this type of over-simplification is the reason why Trump won in the first place and why we will once again end up with a Republican sooner or later and why it’s so difficult for Democrats to take control of Congress. White, rural America (who generally happen to be evangelical xenophobes) has been struggling and disappearing for decades, and Democrats have done next to nothing at least since I can remember to make these people feel included in their overall vision of America. Whether we like it or not they are part of America; a big part of America. These people feel angry, frustrated and disenfranchised and are easily manipulated. That’s where Trump came in and took advantage of this. 4 years ago he was out there in middle, rural America speaking to these people in their language and it worked. Meanwhile, Democrats were campaigning in California and all the states that were OBVIOUSLY going to vote blue, with Hillary calling those people deplorables, only adding fuel to that fire and giving them a specific reason to vote in record numbers. The reason why I think this type of over-simplification is dangerous is because the US is not a direct democracy, it’s an indirect democracy that was specifically designed and planned to make sure rural America isn’t underrepresented and all we need is another situation where just a handful of angry racists assholes vote enough and BOOM another fucking monster gets into office, even if there are millions more voting against. I bring this up because I see time and time again that we’re all focusing on the obvious (they’re racist Karens, we know that), but we and Democrat leaders more importantly don’t seem to look at the root cause of all of this, and the ONLY reason Biden won this time is because Trump is a fucking piece of trash that should’ve never been president in the first place. That was enough to get people out there to vote. If Democrats don’t win the senate race in Georgia we’re FUCKED. Quote

I just didn't feel like writing that much at the time. But while you make many good points, I don't see it as an over-simplification at all. At some point, it is what it is. Personally, I'm kind of over the whole 'everything Trump and Trumpism is the fault of the Dems/the left'. Sorry, but at some point, you have to own who and what you are. If we have to do it, so do they. On a more personal note, at this point, considering everything that has gone down, and what is playing out with this virus as we speak...I just don't have any more fucks to give. I just don't. horn Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Wisconsin election officials say Trump observers obstructing recount, some ‘clearly don’t know what they are doing’ By MICHAEL TARM | ASSOCIATED PRESS | NOV 21, 2020 AT 6:30 PM Election workers, right, verify ballots as recount observers watch during a hand recount of presidential votes at the Wisconsin Center on Nov. 20, 2020, in Milwaukee. The recount of the presidential election in Wisconsin’s two most heavily Democratic counties began Friday with President Donald Trump’s campaign seeking to discard tens of thousands of absentee ballots that it alleged should not have been counted. (Nam Y. Huh/AP) MILWAUKEE — Election officials in Wisconsin’s largest county accused observers for President Donald Trump on Saturday of seeking to obstruct a recount of the presidential results, in some instances by objecting to every ballot tabulators pulled to count. Trump requested the recount in Milwaukee and Dane counties, both heavily liberal, in hopes of undoing Democrat Joe Biden’s victory by about 20,600 votes. With no precedent for a recount reversing such a large margin, Trump’s strategy is widely seen as aimed at an eventual court challenge, part of a push in key states to undo his election loss. A steady stream of Republican complaints in Milwaukee was putting the recount far behind schedule, county clerk George Christenson said. He said many Trump observers were breaking rules by constantly interrupting vote counters with questions and comments. “That’s unacceptable,” he said. He said some of the Trump observers “clearly don’t know what they are doing.” Tim Posnanski, a county election commissioner, told his fellow commissioners there appeared to be two Trump representatives at some tables where tabulators were counting ballots, violating rules that call for one observer from each campaign per table. Posnanski said some Trump representatives seemed to be posing as independents. At one recount table, a Trump observer objected to every ballot that tabulators pulled from a bag simply because they were folded, election officials told the panel. Posnanski called it “prima facie evidence of bad faith by the Trump campaign.” He added later: “I want to know what is going on and why there continues to be obstruction.” Joe Voiland, a lawyer speaking to commission members on behalf of the Trump campaign, denied his side was acting in bad faith. “I want to get to the point of dialing everything down … and not yelling at each other,” Voiland said. At least one Trump observer was escorted out of the building by sheriff’s deputies Saturday after pushing an election official who had lifted her coat from an observer chair. Another Trump observer was removed Friday for not wearing a face mask properly as required. Trump paid $3 million, as required by state law, for the partial recount that began Friday and must conclude by Dec. 1. His team is seeking to disqualify ballots where election clerks filled in missing address information on the certification envelope where the ballot is inserted, even though the practice has long been accepted in Wisconsin. The campaign also alleges thousands of absentee ballots don’t have proper written paperwork, and that some absentee voters improperly declared themselves “indefinitely confined,” a status that allows them to receive a ballot without photo ID. Those challenges were being rejected. There have been at least 31 recounts in statewide elections in the U.S. since the most famous one in Florida’s presidential election in 2000. The recounts changed the outcome of three races. All three were decided by hundreds of votes, not thousands. https://www.chicagotribune.com/election-2020/ct-election-wisconsin-recount-observers-20201122-vwvooa6sjbaqpleoveexhlphbu-story.html Quote

Chris Aluka Berry | Reuters Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election. Nearly every supporter of President Donald Trump thinks otherwise, according to a new CNBC/Change Research poll. As the president makes unsubstantiated claims about electoral malfeasance and sows doubts about vote tallies, only 3% of Trump voters surveyed said they accept Biden’s victory as legitimate, the survey released Monday found. A staggering 73% of respondents consider Trump the legitimate winner. Another 24% said they are not sure. A mere 3% of Trump voters believe he should concede to Biden and start the peaceful transfer of power. Another 31% want the president to fight in court until states certify results. Two-thirds, or 66%, think Trump should never concede. The findings will have little practical effect on the president-elect Biden’s path to taking office on Jan. 20. He will win the White House with 306 electoral votes, according to NBC News, flipping the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia and Arizona along the way. The Trump campaign has repeatedly lost in court as it fails to show irregularities affected the results, and a hand count of votes in Georgia reaffirmed Biden’s victory. But the poll underscores the potentially bigger harm Trump’s lies about the vote tallies have done to public faith in the electoral process. The president appears to have convinced many of his supporters he lost unfairly, even as state officials and judges have repeatedly shot down claims of fraud and wrongdoing. More than 73 million people voted for Trump in the election. More than 79 million cast ballots for Biden. The poll surveyed 1,203 people who voted for Trump in 2020 nationwide from Wednesday to Saturday. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.83 percentage points. The vast majority of Trump voters — 81% — said they would not give Biden a chance as president. Only 19% said they would. Even so, Trump supporters backed some of the policies the former vice president could pursue in the White House. Nearly all, or 91%, of respondents said they support proposals to require the federal government to buy products from American companies and make tax changes to encourage the rerouting of supply chains to the U.S. Three-fourths back plans to expand rural health care options and broadband access, along with proposals to help small and mid-sized farms compete with large companies. Seven-in-10 said they back plans to create jobs by fixing infrastructure and investing in sustainable energy. Two of Biden’s economic plans were least popular among people who voted for the president. A mere 24% of Trump voters support hiking taxes on corporations and people who make more than $400,000 per year. Only 13% back raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. Loyalty to Trump runs deep among the respondents. Asked with whom they would identify if the president left the GOP, 72% responded Trump’s party, while 28% answered the Republican Party. Quote
