Jazzy Jan
5 hours ago, elijah said: He could kill someone on 5th avenue and half of USA would vote him in. Will be interesting to see just how many Americans vote for this lying fascist. Every time I see him on the news etc, he is beyond obnoxious and lies pour our of his mouth while insulting everyone. Even other staunch republicans who worked with him, are campaigning for Harris which speaks volumes in how dangerous and stupid they think he is. If people from the same party are speaking out against him, that surely shows just how badly they think of him. I swear that if people met someone like him in true life, they would be disgusted and detest him. Yet he could be the leader of the free world again. Virtually everyone I know here in Australia can't stand him ( apart from a few ultra right wing racists ) It is hard to fathom how he is so popular in the USA - a country that values their democracy so much - considering what he and his cult mob did when they lost the last election. Raider of the lost Ark
I have come to the conclusion that all those MAGA types love him because he bascially gives them permission to be just as cruel and mean as him. They are not "good" people. They are uneducated, ignorant and selfish. Even worse, they celebrate all of those negative personality traits. I have given up to understand why they are as they are. They are many reasons, the horrible education system in the U.S., evangelical "churches" and social media. But in the end, it is their choice to be ignorant and cruel, no matter how much their behavior is rooted in aforementioned issues. If Trump wins, I will blame the media as well, especially more liberal media. That FOX "News" is not showing Trumps decline to their audience makes perfect sense but that all other media like CNN are participating in "sane-washing" Trump is irresponsible. Compare that to what they did to Biden. Are they so afraid of Trump and what's to come if he wins that they keep quiet or constantly have MAGA people on their shows that misrepresent and lie and those CNN hosts hardly ever fact check them. They realize that freedom of press will be one of the first things gone in a dictatorship?

All those patriots have become nationalists at this point. As a German I found this patriotism especially weird. The amount of flags, the pledge of allegience. Those things have my alarm bells ringing. This is text book Nazi Germany and to a certain extend East Germany. Even more repulsive are those "USA, USA" chants. Also, MAGA will explain to you, that the USA are not e democracy, the USA are a constitutional republic. As if those things were mutually exclusive. But what do they know anyway. Communism, Socialism, Marxism. They use those terms constantly but have no idea what they stand for. It has become a sick joke as this point. And the USA are an incomplete democracy by definition and ranks somewhere in the 50s on some democracy index. A rather lousy position for a country that thinks of itself as the beacon of democracy. And of course, the "greatest or best country in the world". Well, the very country never ranks first except for military spending.
Ciccone's Cheeks
Day 1 ( 9+ years) he's 'them' and they're him. Simple. It's all primal and tribal. All the sociopath's, jerks, assholes (both genders) and simply dumb, dangerous and dopey af are mostly of a certain demo in the US. I've heard of or dealt with (directly or indirectly) a LOT...like disturbingly amount of people (mostly if not entirely white Boomer/Gen X men) just like him. But some women too tho def. more men who have his exact pathology. There's a Gen Z grating white bro culture he's also tapping into. But still not the bulk of buffoons he appeals to. This pre existing US centric glitch/vulnerability has always been there for decades. Was always when not if. Just needed THE right asshole for them to 'connect' with and be fully empowered to let their inner fascist or low key fascist-lite conduct to shine in broad daylight (eg: 'undecided diner eating voters') bullshit lmao. He was, is and will always be IT for them. Posers like DeSantis, Cruz etc....Nah. It's why when he's returns to the cesspool he pooped out of the GOP will completely collapse as a party. He and only he is THE foundation of 'what's' left of it now. Becomes rubble afterwards. They all know it hence the silence and acting like his bitches. Raider of the lost Ark
OMG. Did someone watch Charlamagne Tha God call out Anderson Cooper on CNN about the medias treatment of Donald Trump in the last 8 years and the double standard how they treated Hillary, Biden and Kamala. Anderson got immediately defensive, claiming he never did entertain in questionable reporting and his colleagues didn't either. Well, they may not have made questionable statements themselves BUT they have the worst spreaders of progaganda on their shows (like Scott Jennings) and they hardly ever fight back or cut them off whenever they talk bullshit. CNN anchors appear to be unable to handle those situations. What I find even more shocking is that once highly regarded journalists like Cooper, like Tapper, like Bash became tame in recent years. Tapper being the worst. And isn't it strange that they fired people that were not taking shit from guests, like Don Lemon or people who were critical, like Brian Stelter? Is it a coincidence that all of this started with Discovery buying Warner Brothers? I think CNN is going down the hill. What they seem to forget is that they are watched internationally and for international viewers the way they handle U.S. politics has obviously changed and it is really confusing to watch how they went from having rather disciplined discussions with accepted rules to the lying, the constant interruptions from guests and CNN doing nothing to enforce certain rules, that should be known to people invited in the first place. pithy
It's no secret that CNN benefits from the sideshow of buffoonery and societal decay. The Trump spectacle has done wonders for the network's ratings. On some level, I'm sure there are mercenary forces at play that continue to welcome the chaos. I haven't really watched much this year, but the talent was lacking when my interest dropped off. Some of its most gifted analysts are underutilized. If I had it my way, Laura Coates, whom I adore, would feature much more prominently. Agree totally. The mainstream media ate bending over backwards to not appear biased yet they know exactly how dangerous and stupid he is. He is NOT like any other person running for office. Why they are pussyfooting around now is pathetic. They are not highlighting the fascist talk and continual outright lies he is constantly spruiking. Especially in contrast since Fox, Elon Musk and conservative press are rubbishing the democrats in a shocking manner everyday.

jonski43
So is Trump on course to win or is it still to close to call?
pithy
His whole campaign is about being filthily racist. It's a feature - the feature - to his supporters, not a bug. He pretty much just cycles through the minorities, targeting each one in turn, routinely making every one of the rest feel like there must be at least some other sad, sad group less proximate to the "ideal" in the age-old hierarchy of societal partitioning he perpetuates: no opportunities, no prospects, but at least we're a little closer to the grail than those guys! Racism is all he has, and his supporters who mistakenly think they have some cell of skin in the game (literally, in the case of the impoverished white people about whom he'll never actually give a fuck, but who can at least be given carte blanche to revel in their being white) are happy enough with their lots not to want meaningful change, as long as they can go on lying to themselves that they're somehow superior to their fellow man. Least deceived by the schismatic rhetoric are black women, who can't believe they're proximate to white men because they know they are unable to reap unearned privileges of either race or sex; there are reasons why they make up the most consistent Democratic voting bloc. And, oh, wouldn't these truths of her identity make his loss to Kamala Harris that much more glorious and gratifying? She's not infallible but I don't care. She must win.
