I think Macron has just resigned. I wonder if he was just fed up like Rishi Sunak? Both called elections early.

Macron has not resigned. Where did you read that? Macron is President, not Prime Minister.

The BBC news. I must have misheard!

Just found this:

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has resigned this morning after shock election results...

Anyway, they're rioting again!

Maybe one of the last actions of a BBC employee, soon to be laid off employee, responsible for propaganda, hired ever since Johnson & Co. took over. I was quite remarkable to see how the BBC changed during those years. Their reporting about Europe was borderline Fox News. I guess they were ordered to put the UK in a good light and make Europe look bad ever since the Brexit vote.

It's the same with CNN. Ever since Warner was bought by Discovery, they have clearly made a turn to the right. Their attempts to be fair and balanced are rather clumsy and in many cases their so called fairness in having republican pundits or politicians on air is usually used for a propaganda show by those people. Hardly ever will they be interrupted and fact-checked by CNN moderators. I decline to call them journalistis.

well, so not a far right prime minister in France. It´s not  a surprise for me, I mean, the system that it´s in France alowes you to think twice who do you want in charge.

Thank God Le Pen is kept at bay once again! The French have proven themselves not to be assholes at the end of the day, they’ve always been on the good side of history! It’s also something that I feel in the air in France…. Like for ex. when I’m in Germany, I often feel something creepy in the air, especially in smaller towns. In France however, I always experience warmth and kindness…. Even in Paris, even in the north.
I just hope that the UK’s Brexit fiasco lesson to be a good example for the rest!
In the Netherlands, a far right government was just sworn in and financial experts already see little promise in how the government is going to realize those plans they brainwashed the people with! The first debate after the new cabinet was installed was a complete disaster… the governing parties’ leaders had already some ugly verbal exchanges. And the whole mood according to the interviews of random ppl on the street is that this joke of a new cabinet will barely last till the end of this year! I just wanna give them as much time as possible (shooting for a 3-4 months here, but thats already a stretch) to fuck up so badly that the PVV loses all the votes it got and new elections be called!

Yes, looks like the first vote people can register a protest vote and show they have concerns but the second vote, they can change their minds.

If only they'd done that for Brexit!

The trouble is key issue concerns by the average person like immigration and gender are not being listened to. People are being dismissed as "far right" if they express concerns and the only people prepared to talk about it are the actual far right parties so they get votes.

I agree about Brexit but that was different it would of needed a 2nd referendum to happen at least a year after the original for people to wake up to the reality.

In France they go again straight away to the polls for a second bite of the cherry.

I mean what happens now? It seems very messy politically?

Will one party need to join forces with another like they did here in the U.K. when we had a hung parliament the Liberal Democrat’s hitched on to the Tories to get the majority required in parliament to het laws passed though.

Yes, Macron has to form an alliance with another party and it looks like the hard left.

or you don´t vote in the first one as a protest...it seems the first vote could be more with the heart, and the second week with the mind. Anyways, Lepen has millions of votes

Germany’s far-right party AfD set to win German state election in Thuringia, exit polls show

For the first time since 1945 a German far-right party is projected to win in regional elections, exit polls show.

Founded in 2013, far-right Alternative für Deutschland – or Alternative for Germany (AfD) - is on track to claim victory in state parliamentary elections in the country’s eastern region of Thuringia, initial exit polls by German state broadcaster ZDF show.

AfD is projected to get 33.5% of the vote, well ahead of the conservative party Christian Democrats (CDU) with 24.5%, according to ZDF.
