There is far too much power in the hands of a few in the world and this is another example. Everything about Elon Musk screams of a power hungry egotist who wants more and more power around the world.

karbatal
Well Twitter has been running for too long and with the pandemic many many people ended up fed up. Younger generations are not frequent users. I expect the same downfall as Facebook. Equally scary because millions still use it of course, but the influence will be less. Anyway he’s a stupid turd

jonski43
He says he wants to get rid of all the Twitterbots and make people confirm their identities. Trump and Gaga will lose more than half their followers But yes, he'll be looking to get people's personal data. Very scary in his hands. The only difference is that Twitter or Facebook don’t answer to the same rules of media outlets, who are responsible of the content. If now musk as owner had to face consequences of the shit the platform creates he would sell it tomorrow. So I hope that laws change. Raider of the lost Ark
The whole thing is really confusing. None of the experts in the last 12 hours had any idea why exactly he wants to buy Twitter. Because from a financial point of view it doesn't make sense. Twitter is not profitable. Never has been. Of course, the board of Twitter has to recommend the sale for fiduciary reasons, especially at the sales price of approx. 54 dollars per share. People are assuming that the financial data that will be presented by Twitter this week will be rather bad and that a sales price of 54 dollars per share will be seen as very attractive to get rid of it. Other thing that are unusual here, shareholders have until the end of the year to agree with the sale. That is very long. I don't know the legal situation. How binding is such offer? Is there a way he can withdraw the offer? If that was the case, isn't that basically an invitation to manipulate the share prices? And he has a history of doing things of some sorts. His Crypto dealings are interesting, to say the least. Is it possible that his "free speech" approach (whatever he wants to say with it) is merely gaslighting to distract from his real goals? Again, who pays 44 billion (money he doesn't even have because all his money is in Tesla and SpaceX shares) for a company that struggles to make any profits ever since it was founded and that has billions in debt? karbatal
I wonder if the comments insulting his wife or his kid will be considered free speech too and where he personally will draw the line. Meanwhile Brussels has already reminded him that the EU has already laws regarding social media that he will have to comply if he wants Twitter to operate here. Being the turd that he is I’m sure he thinks he’s above EU regulation. But he’s not. Raider of the lost Ark
5 hours ago, Junior said: Ouch but it’s probably just temporary That company is heavily overvalued anyway. I have said it many times before, share prices today have nothing to do with real financial benchmarks anyway. It's all about speculation. Compared to other automotive companies, Teslas overall profits are rather low (the profit margin per car is higher). And a closer look will tell you that a large portion of the profit does not come from selling cars but from selling CO2 emission certificates. The problem, this source of income will slowly fade away once the majority of cars sold will be electric. At this point, other automotive companies are basically forced to buy the certificates from Tesla. I would like to think that in two to three years Tesla will get into trouble when the market will be flooded with new electric car models. Cars that are quality wise on a higher level, that have a more exciting design. Let's face it, Tesla cars design is very outdated and it has never been original in the first place. Now Tesla fanboys will claim, the Tesla software in so much more advanced, always referring to autonomous driving. The problem, this will not become a reality in the years to come. It is still too dangerous and it will take ages before governments will make that possible, especially in Europe. Until then, this USP is no longer a USP.
