Guest patrickovy Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 (edited) Well looks like she'll stay at top for 3rd week with 4M. The advantage is quite big and rises every day. The #1 on album chart is obvious. Edited May 1, 2008 by patrickovy
Guest Hafo Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 HC still selling around 15K daily, not bad Could reach 90K by Friday, then it's up to Satuday sales to push it over 100K... Portishead have really slowed down! The battle between Sam and Wiley heats up!
promise to try Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 100.000 copies during its first week...I don´t know, ok, we are in 2008 and we know what´s happening with cd´s sales, but it doesn´t look like a hot seller.anyway, this is not december that´s true.I´m happy, another number 1 in her pocket!

It's already nearly close to AL's first week sales and it's well on it's way to achieving what X did (in December, following loads of high profile promo) so it's looking good.

Do you really think this is good? It isn't bad but as 4M has been number 1 for two weeks and the album is featured in loads of publications so everyone knows it is out, 100-110k is pretty disappointing....and lets not do the X comparisons. The true success of HC will show in the coming weeks and following further singles.

Of course it's good - she's done absolutley no promo in the UK whatsoever and it hasn't been advertised on TV. The X comparisons are perfectly VALID - that was released in December, had loads of high profile TV shows, press coverage, advertising etc and didn't manage 100,000 during a peak period. Even if you skip AL and compare HC's first week sales to those of Music (200,000+ in September 2000) - they're probably about the same given market changes and all.
Alexz Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 90k by Friday? Do you usually have big sales on weekends? Is 150k really achievable? No. I told you.

Blaming the lead single You can be sure that had X sold well people would be measuring HC as a flop against it and the different markets wouldn't have been seen as an excuse
