s@ndz Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Woop!!! At the 20th annual World Music Awards held in Monaco, Monte Carlo last night, Madonna won an award for the best selling American artist worldwide this year. Madonna was not there to accept her award because she was busy performing her Sticky & Sweet Tour in Las Vegas this weekend. This World Music award is in recognition for Madonna's album Hard Candy having the highest global sales for an artist from the United States this year. Congratulations to Madonna! F.Y.I. Hard Candy is currently the 3rd best selling album worldwide this year. 2008's BEST SELLERS TO DATE Coldplay Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends 5.728.000 5.922.400 Duffy Rockferry 3.758.000 3.884.320 Madonna Hard Candy 3.094.500 3.206.180 Soundtrack Mamma Mia! 2.890.000 2.964.240 Lil Wayne Tha Carter III 2.889.000 2.990.240 Metallica Death Magnetic 2.857.000 2.857.000 HARD CANDY IS ANOTHER BIG SUCCESS!! Mimi was there, right?.. Was she all "phoney baloney happy for her" smiles when the award for the BESTSELLING AMERICAN ARTIST WORLDWIDE was announced and Madonna won? Was there any report of Mimi throwing things in her hotel room?
Guest superman Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 i think she went back in her hotel room drunk and wasted.! lol

Because counting all albums, Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis has sold more worldwide than Madonna in '08.
Guest superman Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Actually, I think this is just counting the albums released '08. Because counting all albums, Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis has sold more worldwide than Madonna in '08. WHAT???!!! what do u mean?
promise to try Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 what he has said: madonna´s is the third album released in 2008 with the highest sales (so far , we´ll see what happens with metallica). But averall, if you count the albums that were released during 2007, the ones by amy and Leona, maybe they have sold more during 2008
Nightshade Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 #33 in Italy this week (with several debuts above it). I wonder if its sales are seeing an increase now with "Miles Away" a Top 20 radio hit?
Guest tir69 Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 #33 in Italy this week (with several debuts above it). I wonder if its sales are seeing an increase now with "Miles Away" a Top 20 radio hit? Miles away is for a second week at nr 14 on the airplay chart in Italy , thanks to Miles Away , HC is down only one spot on tha album chart.
thebigham Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 From UKMix: According to the Houston Chronicle (where Madonna performed this evening): Madonna's Hard Candy album reportedly sold sold more than 3.3 million copies worldwide.
doctorjosh Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 At least HC will end up selling more than AL worldwide when all is said and done.
sniper Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 Miles away is for a second week at nr 14 on the airplay chart in Italy , thanks to Miles Away , HC is down only one spot on tha album chart. but the sales goes up every week in november
promise to try Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 but the sales goes up every week in november yes! a lot of people only buy music in november december, so...
sniper Posted November 18, 2008 Posted November 18, 2008 so... HC at #33 has sold more than HC at #32 2 weeks ago
promise to try Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Metallica is going to catch her in two weeks...I´m curious to see what´s going to happen in the next weeks, during christmas
doctorjosh Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I think Madonna can hold on to her top 5 position with another 2 weeks to go. Mariah will be spewing. E=MC2 ranks No.15 for all albums sales for 2008.
franxisco66 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Madonna may finish in top 10 after all which isnt bad. Metallica, AC/DC and Rihanna will catch her before the year end for sure, and maybe another new release
Alexz Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 The Oricon end-year chart 39 *,252,520 ***,*** Hard Candy / Madonna 08/04/30
Nightshade Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Hard Candy is OUT of the European 100 albums chart this week.

Dindi Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 At this rate, 4 M seems so far away. Maybe the South American leg will give it that push.
Guest tassilo3001 Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Hopefully it will be in the top10. I'm not sure... Me too I think she never had the first 3 singles from one album in the top ten in germany
Matt Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Me too I think she never had the first 3 singles from one album in the top ten in germany You are right she never achieved that in the past. I remember back in the mid-90s when I thought she will never have a Top10 hit ever again in Germany, but in the meantime she doubled her number of Top10 hits in Germany. MA would be her 25th Top10 hit in that country.
