Wes Craven said this about Madonna...

Some people here need to understand that the reason why some of us are so defensive when it comes to Madonna is because there's already so much biased hatred toward her from the medias, critics, others fanbases and even OTHERS MADONNA FORUMS. She's literally one of the most hated artists of all time.

A lot of us are sick and tired of it and this forum is literally the only Madonna place on the internet where people genuinely love her and don't try to discredit her all the time. We would like to keep it this way so if people start to come on here spreading negativity all the time like on others Madonna forums, it will be insufferable. Of course that doesn't mean people shouldn't have a critical sense when it comes to her, she's not perfect and we all know it. But posting almost only negative stuff is tiresome. No offence to anyone, just my opinion.

 Because I didn't take nonsense from anyone? I don't remember coming in here trashing Madonna. I'm a Madonna fan.

Larkspur, you are one of the most passionate fans of Madonna here. Be proud of that.

Um... so back on the original topic, I remember reading years and years ago that Madonna was going to make a drama about a woman whose brother was dying of AIDS. Obviously, that never happened, but I think she could've actually acquitted herself (surprisingly) well in a very stark, dramatic role. She's gone through so many painful events in her real life (mother's death at such an early age, loss of friends due to AIDS, an abusive marriage, seemingly the whole world turning on her in the "Sex" backlash...), and if she could tap into that ("for inspiration"), I think it might've been amazingly powerful.

Hopefully, it could still happen someday!

True about Madonna going though so much. I still fell she gets too self conscious when making films and it shows. In Desperately Seeking Susan, she had so much natural charisma and lit up the screen. I can't imaging anyone else ever taking that role. Somehow, she has since made a lot of dreadful choices and also seemed to over-think a lot of her performances. I thought she was brilliant in Dangerous Game although the movie was dreadful. Also great in Evita and lovely in Dick Tracy. I doubt that she wants to act again though.

No, you never trashed Madonna, but you were so agressive in your replies. Even when people were clearly joking...

Anyway, it's all water under the bridge and stuff :kiss2:

I heard that Lars von Trier wrote 'Breaking The Waves' for Madonna but she ignored/didn't receive his letter? Something also sticks in my mind about a holocaust survivor story....of all things, that Madonna was attached to at some point. Certainly the kinds of roles that would have challenged and proved her mettle as an actress.

Evita was challenging and pulled it off because she was focused on the role...she felt Eva was part of her, inside her...method actors go to great lengths to become the character they are playing...it paid off for her in Evita.

The role of Ginger in Casino would have been a nice dramatic piece for her ...and from what we know, they passed on Madonna but she did want the role...

I really wish she had been in Breaking The Waves. It would have been interesting, and also to see what kind of reception she would have received for the role.

Desperately Seeking Susan: super cute in this movie

Shanghi Surprise: never seen it, dont like horror movies

Who's That Girl: only saw bits and pieces...her accent is annoying and so is the hair and eyebrow..but her acting is okay

Dick Tracy- perfect.

A league of Their Own: it was good! there just should have been more of Madonna

Body of Evidence: not as bad as everyone made it out to be, including her acting

Dangerous Game: She fantastic in this movie

skipping cameos and moving right along to ....

Evita: she SHOULD have won the oscar! okay okay the bar is set low but she should have gotten a nom at least.

The Next Best Thing: The first time i actually said out loud that 'madonna can't act'

Swept Away: she did well in this movie! people beat up on her too hard...once shes on the island you forget its madonna

Bea Aurthur and the invisibles- never saw it

Hello Suckers could have been the next big gay cult classic

(Regarding "Behind the Red Door")

Oh, wow. Thanks for this! I had no idea the movie was actually made. Gotta go searching for this.

P.S. M was also quite solid and natural in that phone sex movie Girl 6.

I disagree. I just tried watching this last week and it was painful to watch her. She just can't act under certain directors... especially her (then) husband.

I actually haven't seen it in a while...but I don't know it wasn't THAT bad.
