BoyToy Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Flop release like everything else just lately,Think they must all have sleeping sickness or something
Guest nothingfails0603 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Well, what do you expect a live DVD to do? The glass ceiling number would be 100k-125k max anyways because this will be selling to the people who bought DWT and CT, not the average person who likes a few Madonna hits here and there. I suppose a Jan release would help it chart better because it would be completely lost in the shuffle with a holiday release. Confessions Tour debuted top 20 in Jan 2007, it might've been #60 in December 2006. Live DVD's are a whole different monster than regular CD's because they usually are slower sellers and only serious fans buy them anyways. I just really want to see it first quarter of 2010 because Madonna is a very forward-minded person and when the next album comes out, I doubt she'd want to release a tour from her last album. Stuff like RIT, BA and Virgin Tour on DVD/bluray are likely being saved for a huge hiatus, just like David Bowie's vault has been raided (Glass Spider officially on DVD, Santa Monica 72, VH1 Storytellers....) as he's been taking it easy the past five years. I just hope S&S does get a release as planned and doesn't get shelved for the time being.
Guest nothingfails0603 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 DVD is sooooooo 90s I want this in BLU-RAY! I'm tired of all the DVD bashing and the way a lot of DVD's don't get the extras on Blu. I'm content with DVD with the not-huge not-HD set I have. I don't feel the need to switch, especially considering outside of maybe the Alien and Star Wars movies, I'm not a huge fan of the expensive SFX orgies that just have to be seen on bluray on a 62" screen. The bulk of my DVD's are old TV shows, music DVD's and the majority of the movies in my collection are over 5 years old anyways. Nothing that really screams "you haven't lived until you have seen this on bluray on a big screen" anyways. You can't pay me to watch Transformers and the sort and I already see the Harry Potter movies in theaters (and nothing compares to the bigscreen), so I don't see the need to upgrade since those are the type of movies that really benefit from bluray, not 20 year old sitcoms and music DVD's. I want the DVD to have the same extras as the bluray.
Guest SoUnusual Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 ^^ Blu-Ray discs are bigger than DVD discs. Which means they can have larger video quality on them, they last longer. And look better. BUT I DON'T FUCKING CARE. And Like FUCK i'm gonna buy a blu-ray player.

And look better. BUT I DON'T FUCKING CARE. And Like FUCK i'm gonna buy a blu-ray player. well, the thing is, the majority of the stuff I'm interested in isn't going to look better. Old sitcoms from the 80's and 90's and music video collections from those days really only are going to look so good to begin with. It's really only shit like Transformers and LOTR and the sort that really needs to be experienced on BluRay, and to be honest, I hate most action/sci-fi movies and only Alien, Star Wars and maybe Harry Potter would I even have any intention of wanting that a bluray would really blow the roof off compared to DVD, and even in that case, I've seen 2 of the Alien movies, 5 of the 6 HP movies (didn't see the first because I had no idea I'd like it) and all the Star Wars movies in the theater, and theatrical will always trump any home format.
bliss Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Blue Ray or whatever the hell you call it is just a fad. I own TV on DVD shows and some people are right you don't need a Blue ray to play them. Standard DVD players work just fine none of this new nonsense.

You know if Patty Duke comes out on BluRay you'll be all up in it But I do agree. Maybe in the future, but right now I'm content with DVD, my tv isn't that huge and I'm really not a big fan of CGI orgies like Transformers that have to be appreciated on a 62 inch plasma.

afrolito Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 There is absolutely no reason for this release to be in a blu-ray format. As has already been stated, blu-ray mainly benefits shit like 2012 or Twilight. I also could give two shits how it charts. It's a dvd for hardcore fans, not casual fans of a few songs. All of these delays are making me nervous, and I just want it out ASAP. I can't take another RIT debacle.
Kurt420 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 It's been 2 months since the tour ended and nearly a year since the DVD was filmed. This is ridiculous. I'm confident Gaga will have The Fame Ball DVD on store shelves immediately after the tour completes. Hell, being the pioneer and renaissance woman she is she just may have it sold at her shows. She is just that forward.

Um I'll plead the fifth on that one about Miss Patty Yes I am a proud owner of a regular DVD player and I don't need this nonsense Blue Ray. They'll be another fad right around the corner anyways...
bliss Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 they tend to put even more extras on blu-ray releases that arnt found on the HD or standard releases. extras are fine and dandy but some people are very stingy with putting extras even on regular DVD's namely Madonna.

This CD/DVD will sell close to nothing yet the usual suspects will freak out and will obsess over shit like "oh but people are supposed to RELIVE the show". And I see the second season of Patty Duke show was announced...
Nightshade Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Yet another red herring: According to HMV Japan: Format: CD with DVD Release Date: February 10, 2010 Catalog #: WPZR30363 Label: Warner Music Japan
Guest Danny86 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 ^That sounds about right, unless Warner Japan is being late again like they were with Dec. 16. A person with a Warner Canada source is saying March is the "latest" but don't know what to believe now...

StrawberryBounce12 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Great news!!!! Can't wait to buy this
markm Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Hell, being the pioneer and renaissance woman she is she just may have it sold at her shows. She is just that forward. That would require effort, something she is lacking at the moment.
Kurt420 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 That would require effort, something she is lacking at the moment. I was talking about Lady Gaga. Unless you are suggesting she is lacking effort at the moment. I personally wouldn't agree with that, but you are entitled to your opinion.

BabyDietrich Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Now REBECCA_CARLSON from Mfanzine said the DVD was pushed to early March. WTF is going with this release? Will ever get released? I hope it will. Also I've been meaning to ask this. www.madonna-store.com WHAT is this weird store which sells weird Madonna stuffs? Is that not illegal?

I personally wouldn't agree with that, but you are entitled to your opinion. I know a guy in Orlando who saw Gaga early this year when she was starting to gain popularity and he said she spent the whole show lipsynching to a CD and that it reminded him of Britney's VMA fiasco, he lost interest in Gaga immediately following that.

Hmmm....maybe she was just having an off night or something. Generally though she seems to be quite enthusiastic in her performances from what I've seen.
