Miley is the fucking queen right now!

She's number #1 in music, tv and movies.

I give her six more months to a year. Disney is already grooming those girls from Camp Rock to take her place, just like she took Hilary Duff's

It's odd btw you trash the September song while it's kinda the same style to the COADF singles... so basically you mean that they deserved to be flops too then?

I'm sorry, but September is garbage compared to any COADF song. This is really just a throwaway eurotrash dance track, at least Madonna's songs had killer melodies and a lot better production. If September becomes a hit, the bias against Madonna would look even worse.

Congrats for Meryl!

it reminds me of that Crapcada trash that was all over radio at the same time "Sorry" was being blacklisted

Congrats for Meryl!

thank u! lol . u saved me the me the time and wasted energy (which I didnt feel his post was worthy of) to have to respond to that rambling, naive response, to the "point" of my post. U perfectly conveyed ,and well, reiterated my exact point :))! That September song is generic, disposable Euro trash that will make ZERO impact in the long run to your typical US radio program director LOL. Its a fly by night, 1000% NON COAD sounding song in every possible way!

Notice how Rihanna's song exploded once the video was released.

And people here insist that videos don't matter anymore.

The main MTV & VH1 channels may not play videos but they play videos consistently on all their subsidiary channels. Plus there is the internet, iPods, etc.

^ yes, that Disturbia song once again is def. yet "another" instant big hit for Rihanna. She so blatantly is gettin the best peeps in the biz to hook her up w/ the hottest beats and material. Shes a non stop hit machine for now. While the song is catchy and will do well for her, imo its not a strong as Dont Stop The Music, Umbrella, or even Take A Bow. I predict itll be a big solid Top 3 song for her. But, theres just something missing in the overall vibe of the song to be #1 or as universal as DSTM and Umbrella etc. Nevertheless, she racks up her 5th or 6th consecutive smash hit, done deal.

Yeah, at this rate she can probably put out a greatest hits and include a couple "surefire smash hits" additions. She's the current queen of the Hot 100.

I'd hardly call September anything like Cascada. Cascada uses that same tired superfast pounding BPM with the freaked out synths that was used on DHT's "Listen to Your Heart" and DJ Sammy's "Heaven."

"Cry For You" is a great pop song. I'd say the rest of the album isn't all that great, but CFY hardly sounds like Cascada.

She's the new Hilary Duff, popular for a few albums, has a hit TV show but she'll be washed up in a few years while Madonna is scoring her 9th US #1 album!

I agree. Why do people always compare teen queens to Madonna instead of to the obvious standards like Debbie, Tiffany, Hilary. There are a few flukes like Britney and Christina, but I'd say there are far more careers like Tiffany than Britney's.

GI2M went 21*-74-off on Hot Digital Songs initially.

Hot Digital Tracks it went 28*-off.

Ed looks like he got his numbers slightly mixed there.

I don't understand why radio dropped 4 Mins like a Christmas song in January, few songs plummet down the way it did.

I disagee - the vocal style of Cry For You is way different andits probably slower than your average Euro Pop track. Madonna is not being black-listed because of dance music alone - its her age too. Cry For You deserves to be a hit in the USA - The americans need something different and new to listen to. At least September are a dance group and not bored Urban stars such as Rihanna , Ne Yo, Timbaland - who simply take dance songs into the top 3 because they are Urban and they get Urban support.

4M had decent longevity- and then, yeah, it plunged rather quickly. But, it did spend the same # of weeks on Hot 100 Airplay as BStranger. (and peaked in the same position).

BTW, for those interested, here's the 14-week comparison for Emancipation of Mimi and E=MC2.

Emancipation: No. 2 on Billboard 200, 89,875- 2,603,195 through 14 weeks

E=MC2: No. 52 on Billboard 200, 10,583- 1,116,774 through 14 weeks

I hate to be put in a position to defend Mariah but how can you call her a flop? Yes in comparison to her last album, but who actually thought she was going to be able to match that success 3 years later?? That will probably be the last time in her career she will see numbers like that.

Bottom line is she has one of the top selling CD's of the year in the US (the number 2 if I'm not mistaken) and it has produced 2 Top 20 "hits" one of those going to number one. As chart and sales obsessed as she and her fans supposedly are then yeah.....THEY may be disappointed but in the grand scheme of things she's actually doing pretty damn good. When the "glass ceiling" so far this year is under 2.5 million and she's done 1.1 million.....sorry I call that a success!

The music industry is a FLOP not Mariah.

It`s true the music sales are terrible in 2008 but I was talking about chart position... exept the USA the album is really flopping...

SALES of Mariah:

USA: 1,050,000 (4th best selling of the year behind Jack Johnson, Coldplay & Lil Wayne)

REST: 500-600k

Anyway Madonna exept the USA is in top 20 almost everywhere, Maraiah is out the top 50 almost everywhere!!!

Course Mimi's album isn't a flop- but losing more than half of the comeback album's sales (which it probably will do), I'm sure she isn't too pleased about that. And, the fact that it's at No. 52 whereas the last album was still top 5 after the same period of time- that's more telling than the sales numbers, me thinks.

Wow, you almost sound gleeful, JR. :)

Mimi performs on the Teen Choice Awards- not that that's going to cause the album and single way up the charts or anything. "Touch My Body" (it's a cute track, nothing more, it's inconsequential like most of Mimi's stuff) did as well as it did in part because it came off the heels of such a successful album. Then to have that followed with a track peaking at No. 19, when the hopes was that it would be the 19th #1 on the Hot 100- must have been disappointing. I doubt "I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time" will peak as high as "Bye Bye," but at least it's moving in the right direction.

with Mariah's album. You have to remember just how big "We Belong Together" was, I doubt the album would've logged eight months in the top 10 without it. E=MC2 is back to earth for Mariah. It doesn't help that the singles this album aren't particularly strong. Touch My Body was effortless and while it went to #1, it didn't have longevity, and while Bye Bye wasn't bad, it's not like she hasn't done this song many times in the past, most notably with One Sweet Day. It's nothing entirely fresh and it's not drawing in as many casual listeners as Mimi did.

Fresh? That's not exactly a word that would describe Mimi's work. :) Each album is a variation of the one before it, with ever-so-slight differences (if any). Especially starting with the Daydream era (when she had ODB do some nursery rhymin' on the "Fantasty" remix). Cause Daydream was like the albums before it, pretty much, but she decided to delve into the rent-a-rapper business and she hasn't looked back.

"One Sweet Day" was big on the charts, and the followup album Butterfly did better (chart-ranking-wise) than E=MC2 is doing. And Butterfly is when pop radio started losing interest in her- "Honey" barely made the top 10 at the format, while "Butterfly" and "My All" peaked in the teens.
