thebigham
HITS: YOUR WEAKEND TOP 10 CHART PREVIEW: In what started out as a neck-and-neck race, Miley Cyrus has pullED ahead of Sugarland after two days of sales. She gets the edge going into the weekend due to the tv premiere of Best of Both Worlds” this Saturday 3-D glasses are available exclusively at Wal-Mart, which will strengthen her overall first-week number. Mamma Mia exploded over the weekend and shows little sign of slowing down this week. Another strong weekend at the box office and the soundtrack could go ever higher than presently projected. Nas looks like he’ll see the usual two-thirds decay in the second week, while Taylor Swift will slip only a few percentage points, staying put at #9 for the second week. Here’s how things look right now: 1. Miley Cyrus (Hollywood) 360-380k 2. Sugarland (Mercury Nashville) 340-360k 3. Mamma Mia (Decca) 130-140k 4. Kid Rock (Atlantic) 85-90k 5. thebigham
Billboard.com: Miley Cyrus To Debut At No. 1 On Billboard 200 July 29, 2008 , 6:40 PM ET by Keith Caulfield, L.A. Miley Cyrus will land her second No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 tomorrow (July 30), as "Breakout" (Hollywood) bows with 371,000 U.S. copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That's the second-biggest sales week of the year for a female artist, following the 463,000 debut of Mariah Carey's "E=MC2" (Island/IDJMG). Cyrus' last album, the half soundtrack, half studio set "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus" (Hollywood/Walt Disney), started at No. 1 last summer with 326,000. The first "Hanna Montana" soundtrack, which launched her recording career, also bowed at No. 1 in 2006, with first-week sales of 281,000. It went on to be the best seller of that year's fourth quarter with less than three months of shelf life. Debuting in the runner-up slot on The Billboard 200 is country duo Sugarland with the deluxe version of "Love on the Inside" (314,000). It's easily the Mercury Nashville act's best sales week and highest charting album ever. The band's previous high came with 2006's "Enjoy the Ride," which debuted and peaked at No. 4 with 211,000. Sugarland also enjoys the best sales week for any country act since the Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden" (ERC) shifted 359,000 in its second week of release last fall. Sugarland has another reason to celebrate, as "Love on the Inside" becomes its first No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. The duo's first two sets, "Twice the Speed of Life" and "Enjoy the Ride," peaked at Nos. 3 and 2, respectively. Next week will mark an interesting sales test, as the standard edition of "Love on the Inside" bowed in stores today (July 29); those sales will be merged with the deluxe edition's total next week. The standard edition lacks five bonus tracks found on the deluxe version.

thebigham
Billboard.com: Miley Trumps Sugarland To Lead Billboard 200 July 30, 2008 by Keith Caulfield, L.A. and Katie Hasty, N.Y. Miley Cyrus lands her second No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 as "Breakout" (Hollywood) bows with 371,000 U.S. copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That's the second-biggest sales week of the year for a female artist, following the 463,000 debut of Mariah Carey's "E=MC2" (Island). Cyrus' last album, the half soundtrack, half studio set "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus" (Hollywood/Walt Disney), started at No. 1 last summer with 326,000. The first "Hannah Montana" soundtrack, which launched her recording career, also bowed at No. With an 84% sales boost, the Decca soundtrack to "Mamma Mia!" moves 168,000 copies, remaining at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 for a second week. Kid Rock's "Rock N Roll Jesus" (Atlantic) continues to resurge 6-4 with a 26% increase to 93,000. Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III" (Cash Money/Universal) dips 2-5 with 85,000 (-19%). Coldplay's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" (Capitol) descends 4-6 with a 17% decrease to 75,000, while the Jonas Brothers-led soundtrack to Disney's "Camp Rock" falls 5-7 with 67,000 (-15%). After bowing at the summit last week, Nas' untitled Def Jam album slips to No. 8 with a 66% sales decrease to 63,000. The multi-label "Now 28" hits compilation re-enters the top tier 11-9 despite a 8% sales reduction to 37,000. Taylor Swift's Wal-Mart exclusive EP/DVD "Beautiful Eyes" rounds out the top 10, falling 9-10 with 35,000 (-13%). After its free online release in May, Nine Inch Nails' latest album, "The Slip," debuts at No. 13 after a physical release via the Null label. The set sold 29,000 copies; it was expanded to a double-disc, digipak set, individually numbered and limited to a pressing of 250,000 globally. One Day As A Lion, the collaboration between Rage Against the Machine's Zach de la Rocha and ex-the Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore, bows at No. 28 with its self-titled Anti- EP, which sold 17,000. Other debuts to crack the top 50 include the reunited Candlebox's "Into the Sun" (Silent Majority/ILG, No. 32, 14,000) and R&B singer Noel Gourdin's "After My Time" (Sony Urban, No. 36, 14,000). Blues legend Buddy Guy earns his highest charting album ever as "Skin Deep" (Zomba) enters at No. 68 with nearly 9,000. It's also the best sales week for the artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. At 7.84 million units, sales this week are up 4.8% from last week's sum and down 1.6% from the same week last year.

thebigham
Next week: HITS: MILEY BREAKOUT CONTINUES: Look for Disney teenage sensation Miley Cyrus to get at least one more week at #1 with her Breakout album scoring around 180k in sales. In its second week, Mercury Nashville's Sugarland appears headed for 140-150k, but don't be surprised if it does even better, considering no one has ever followed a "deluxe fan edition" with the regular version before. Among the new releases, Razor & Tie's perennial Kidz Bop 14 is headed for a robust 50-60k, while Provident/ Reunion's Third Day (through SBMG) is in the 30-40k range, though never discount the Christian bookstore factor to drive that number up. Interscope's Scars on Broadway, the band started by System of a Down's Daron Malakian, should do 25k, give or take, while New Door/UMe's Rick Springfield could do as much as 15k, and not all of them named Jessie. Lucy Goosie
Shes new MAdonna except more successful She's the new Hilary Duff, popular for a few albums, has a hit TV show but she'll be washed up in a few years while Madonna is scoring her 9th US #1 album! Ciccone's Cheeks
go Katy and Estelle !!!! the charts overall dont look as horrible compared to many typical weeks. LOL @ Mimis new single barely clawing its way into the top 70 lol! oh, and I really hope that September song stays bubbling under and doesnt catch on, but I have this feeling US radio is gonna be all over this shit lol in upcoming weeks. It has a "US radio friendly" dumb-down dance sound, kinda like those Cascada songs :/
Zezwer
go Katy and Estelle !!!! the charts overall dont look as horrible compared to many typical weeks. LOL @ Mimis new single barely clawing its way into the top 70 lol! oh, and reallty hope that September song stays bubbling under and doesnt catch on, but I have this feeling US radio is gonna be all over this shit lol in upcoming weeks. It has a "US radio friendly" dumb-down dance sound, kinda like those Cascada songs :/ ehm? I wish September's song WILL be a hit in the US! comparing to all the shyte hiphop one hit wonders, songs like the September song are NEEDED in the US to make some kind of change on the generic charts. It's odd btw you trash the September song while it's kinda the same style to the COADF singles... so basically you mean that they deserved to be flops too then? lemi
can't believe Meryl Steep in on US top 100. Congrats to her! It must be her 1st ever appearance on the pop charts, isn't it? Now she can add " a top chart pop artist" to her Academy Award-heavy resume, LOL
fak
I wish september to go to no1 - there needs to be some genuine dance songs charting.
