Zezwer Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Who is buying that Sam Sparro crap? I like that song
paradise Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 does anyone know when the video is available to buy on itunes? and does it count towards the charts?
Carta Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 There's confusion over whether it counts towards the UK charts or not. Unfortunately, there's no "Ask Billboard" type column to help clarify the situation!
paradise Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 gggrrrr thanks anyway...nice to see you can buy 'deeper and deeper' on there and 'erotica'
Guest powerofgoodbye Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Here is the 3 weeks itunes UK sales number from Haven. Madonna 17,567 (total: 21,105 + 20,623 + 17,567 = 59,295)

markm Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Great stuff, the video must be helping sales. I have seen it 3 times today on the music channels. Hopefully she will move up a few places in tomorrows mid weeks.

markm Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Is she the 1st artist to top i Tunes on both sides of the Atlantic at the same time?
Dr Lecter Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 I SAID for people not to panic..i knew the video would help, now, if the physica was next week...but fucking Warners However there is still hope

I bet sales will be explosive in the UK for the singles and downloads until after MADONNA performs in London on May...
eroticromance Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Any chances that 4M can be #1 on the UK chart next sunday? I mean she #1 on itunes just since yesterday and at that time in the midweek chart she was #4. Can we expect more with itunes weekend sales?
Madonna-Greece Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Yoo-hoo, dear Queen Bitch! 4M is #1 in Itunes UK! Is it starting to get really cold for you?
Queen Bitch Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Yoo-hoo, dear Queen Bitch! 4M is #1 in Itunes UK! Is it starting to get really cold for you? It's number 4 on the UK charts and number 3 in the States - number 1 on i-tunes means JACK SHIT. Although I am pleased she's the first act to do a simultaneous, transatlantic number 1 on i-tunes.
Guest SuperPop Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Although I am pleased she's the first act to do a simultaneous, transatlantic number 1 on i-tunes. Is she? Rihanna did that last year with Umbrella if I remember well....
markm Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 . Although I am pleased she's the first act to do a simultaneous, transatlantic number 1 on i-tunes. I was wondering the same myself. Thanks for confirming
Queen Bitch Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Is she? Rihanna did that last year with Umbrella if I remember well.... I'm not reporting it, someone else claimed it earlier in the thread but yes, I'd imagine Rhianna had this accolade first.
Catboy Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 An achievment would be to top the charts both sides of the Atlantic. I think she has this record for female artists: Papa don't Preach Who's that Girl Like a Prayer Vogue Music Even some of them were not simultaneous, at least were transatlantic #1.
Kurt420 Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I STILL can't believe Like A Virgin didn't top the UK charts....it may not be her best song but DAMN! That's worse than Hung Up missing the top of the US charts. BTW congrats to M on her UK itunes number one. Things are on the up and up for the song over there it seems!!
Queen Bitch Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I STILL can't believe Like A Virgin didn't top the UK charts.... Well it was her first MAJOR breakthough hits and has OUTSOLD all but one of her number 1s here. It missed the top spot because both records ahead of it were for Band Aid.

M always seems to have impeccable timing when it comes to releasing her stuff in the middle of some huge phenomenon. Like in 1990 on the US charts when MC Hammer and (Vanilla Ice??) blocked IC from the top and then in '98 Titanic blocked ROL.

True, but the release of the American Life album in the UK and US was very well timed as it hardly sold anything compared to her big hits. Swings and roundabouts.

Guest Danny86 Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 She's not far from #2-#3: 1 Estelle (27.6k) 2 Flo Rida (19.1k) 3 Sam Sparro (18.5k) 4 Madonna (17k) I hope she'll stay at least the same for next week, so the week after the physical can make her jump to #1.
Guest SuperPop Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 so as it seems September might be the unexpected rival with 4M for the top position... it is constantly rising in Itunes..and it is now currently at no3...
