Oh well. The Age of the 80's/90's Divas is over. I was thinking Madonna might win the Grammy for Music Video Long Form next year - having CELEBRATION (DVD) and possibly Sticky & Sweet DVD as contenders, but if MJ's This Is It comes out in January 2010, I am wondering if that will count as a long-form music video release and blow her out of the water? The Celebration DVD was a completely non-event release, I'm not even sure if they are still nominating and rewarding regular video compilations these days. S&ST will be nominated for sure but you're right that MJ will blow her out of the water. Anyway, can record/song/album of the year be anymore predictable? They realize only 4 acts had a bigger popularity this year so they are honoring them to make sure people tune in and watch the show so they get their ratings. As if there were no other songs with better things to say rather than: muh muh muh poker face... I remember Music being nominated for record of the year and dance recording and it lost both, and was not nominated for song of the year for obvious reasons as its lyrics and composition didn't do much to deserve it, just like Poker Face....And I share your thoughts about Madonna never having a song of the year Nomination....anyway, Grammys never really looked at her with affection until Ray of light. Their usual reasons were that she didn't make good music in the 80's and 90's, and after Ray of light she got various nominations and awards whereas others claim her post Like a prayer work is crap. Past are the days when songs like "Sunny came home", "Adia","My favorite mistake" get nominated.
