rafter69
hope that we'll see some stats for the week we're in now, I repurchased Erotica because my old copy was pretty worn out So maybe it'll boost from 59 to 60!! LOL I got a new copy too! Same reason! Speaking of her catalog, i was x-mas shopping at our local best buy and out of no where they have restocked the Confessions Tour. for about 6 months they've had this one lone copy there and now they have 2 'slots' full. They also reordered a few copies of I'm gonna tel you a secret which werent there last time and i saw some copies of True Blue. I kinda wonder why they pick the ones they do to restock. And why they wait until theres no real shopping days left. ON the other hand, i'm sure no one's gonna buy these anyway so no biggie but the point is, this store always waits until the last week of shopping to restock. They do this every year. Last year they had no copies of COADF until the last week and then all the sudden theres like 20 copies. I bought a copy of Confessions Tour for a friend who didnt have it yet. he's a little slow on these things! LOL So at least it sold one copy. And i got one of Erotica. But i had to get that at a differnt Best Buy cause this one hasnt carried it for about 10 years.

HolidayGuy
It was tight and down to the wire, but The Immaculate Collection *did* end up topping 100,000 units for 2007. More details on 2007- the bleak year that it was in music sales- coming later...
Nightshade
^ Damn, that is about all we have to look forward to anymore. I miss the days when we could see catalog albums get another platinum cert after a couple of years. It's so depressing now waiting for American Life just to cross 700,000 copies. HolidayGuy
2007 Album Sales (rounded to nearest 5) Music sales were down last year, and, of course, Madonna was not immune. Do not be alarmed by COADF's dramatic decline (same for IGTTYAS)- it's just the usual adjustment-to-catalog-life dip. The Immaculate Collection hada similar percentage drop compared to a year ago, and looked like it may not top 100,000 for the year- but, alas, it did, albeit by just a couple thousand. Like a Virgin easily was the best-selling pre-COADF studio album- partly benefiting from a promotion in the so-called 200 Essential Albums promotion. GHV2 continued to lose its luster and fast. Sales of WTG and Evita are not included (though I could get estimates- Evita sold maybe a tad more than IB, or close to it- WTG is easily the lowest seller). New Release The Confessions Tour: 123,715 Albums and Videos 1. The Immaculate Collection: 102,455 (-28%) 2. Confessions on a Dance Floor: 55,700 (-89%) 3. Like a Virgin: 16,675 (-2%) 4. GHV2: 12,360 (-55%) 5. Ray of Light: 10,005 (-40%) 6. I'm Going to Tell You a Secret: 7,575 (-89%) 7. Madonna: 7,545 (-46%) 8. The Immaculate Collection (Video): 7,220 (-36%) 9. Something to Remember :6,260 (-41%) 10. True Blue: 5,500 (-37%) 11. Music: 4,340 (-49%) 12. Girlie Show: 4,065 (-16%) 13. Like a Prayer: 4,040 (-44%) 14. Erotica: 3,970 (-31%) 15. Ciao Italia: 3,810 (-40%) 16. Drowned World Tour: 3,050 (-53%) 17. American Life: 2,955 (-54%) 18. The Video Collection: 2,875 (-51%) 19. Bedtime Stories: 2,590 (-31%) 20. You Can Dance: 2,055 (-52%) 21. Remixed and Revisited (EP): 1,900 (-70%) 22. I'm Breathless: 1,780 (-29%)

HolidayGuy
Um, I mentioned the PERCENTAGE DROP- some could see 89% dip and may forget that catalog-life adjustment is common. I should have clarified even further for you, though.
