I didn't. I hd a connection to getting in but it didn't pan out so I decided to still go and see if I could get a glimpse of M but I only saw Snooki, JWoww, Milla, Anderson, Countess Luann and Vinny. I barely even noticed Anderson.

I stood outside freezing for 3 hours and then went home

Sorry Mensch, I did not realize that. Well, at least you got to see Snooki  Seriously though, sorry you missed out. I was looking forward to reading your review.

I honestly loved her speech. She is a very intelligent and inspiring woman and I am so proud of her, not only for being an ambassador for gay rights but for being a true humanitarian. She clearly has a massive heart and a great love of people even underneath the public persona. While I do not know her as a person, I can see glimpses of her soul in her music and her art, and seeing her in full flow delivering such a heart warming speech reminds me yet again why I have connected with her beautiful soul more than any other artist. I love her!

No reason to feel sorry. I had a blast! With Madonna, you just never know. I was happy. Outside, I met two guys who were there for M and we met seem girl who's sister was doing the red carpet and she had told me that M was def. not doing the carpet cause they got an e-mail and that she would enter through the garage and not through the main entrance as did the rest of the "stars"...

It was fun. I hope there's another event soon where I can be sure to get a view of M.

I agree. I can't believe most of the world only sees her attitude which is just one little part of her personality. I believe the world is dumber than most of us. Unforunately so.

I don't get this arguing. Sorry debord, you make your case because she started to talk about things that has not to do with gay. Like the girl that was shot in the head or Pussy Riot. But you totally ignore that she did not choose those examples out of the blue. She is coming full circle. All those examples were altready mentioned during her MDNA tour. Whereas she has no relation to the Manning case at all. Furthermore, Madonna is a known fighter for womens rights. So it comes natural that she would rather talk about women who did something exceptional. Especially that poor girl from Pakistan who fought for her right for an education when she tries to improve the situation of children especially girls in Malawi by providing schools.

And about the Pussy Riots, you can't be serious. We all know what they did was against the law. BUT even those with hardly any knowledge about the political situation realize that their punishment was not for breaking that law. It was for criticising the Russian government especially Putin. And therefore they got slapped with a draconic sentence. If this would have been a single case then this would be "debatable". But the way the situation was handled by authorities is symptomatic how opposition in Russia is treated.

I'm very serious about Pussy Riot. Read what I actually wrote. I'm not defending their persecution, I'm pointing out that it's only 'uncontroversial' from the viewpoint of Westerners who have the luxury of believing their societies to be superior. In Russia itself, their case is as 'controversial' and 'debated' as people keep telling me Bradley Manning's is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pussy_Riot#Public_opinion_in_Russia

And Madonna chooses what to speak about and what not to. If she had delivered a whole speech about brave women, you would perhaps have a point (though certainly she could consider people like Laura Poitras with regards to the Obama administration's treatment of 'opposition' and 'dissent'). She didn't.

We can endlessly go round the houses here but the fundamental truth of the matter is that she chose examples which not only didn't offend, but actively flattered the sensibilities of everyone present.

Dear madonna fans, Madonna is not your spokesperson, she is hers. Fight your own battles and write your own speeches.

Such a great speech, I am so proud of being a fan of this strong, inspirational and clever woman. And yes she also looked great but it is not even the point here. Just perfect in every way...again.

Right. So Madonna has zero power, zero influence and nothing she says or does is worthy of discussion (sorry, I mean criticism - unstinting praise is of course fine) because she's her own person blah blah blah. Funnily enough, loads of Little Monsters wheel out this drivel to defend her trite use of 'the gays' to bolster her image.

Utter rubbish. The very reason she's at this event is because of what she represents and that she is a 'spokesperson'. I happen to think discussing these issues is a good thing.

I said she is NOT your spokesperson, she is hers. Let her say what she wants to say and take your wish list and either shove it up your ass or get a soapbox and say it yourself.

that said, I think the biggest insult is glaad using Madonna for attention to hand out an award to someone else. even that lady gaga has two glaad awards. madonna has none. that should tell you enough about that cheesy show.

Madonna doesn't really care. We shouldn't either. I bet there are tons of organizations that wanted to honor Madonna with some kind of award. And yes, they often do it to get PR. Madonna denies most of those awards especially the lifetime achievement ones. We know about the Brits thing. And she is right. Her achievements stand on their own. What she has done does not need the recognition or approval of some kind of awards commitee. That said, there are awards which are way too important to not accept. Simply because people will listen. And afterall if you are working in entertainment you are just going to accept a Oscar, a Golden Globe, a Tony or an Emmy because it somehow means you did a great job. But I think her AMfAR award means way more to her since it's about her humanitarian work.

About Gaga, I don't know what she got the award(s) for. Being an ally for the gay community? Being all around the gays when the time came to repeal DADT? I think this was a shortsighted decision made by GLAAD back then and I hope it caused some discussion among those in charge. It may not have been that obvious back then but now it seems rather unclear why she did support all of this in the first place. It all leaves a bad taste in retrospective. Quite a few people, including myself, believe she more or less hijacked the whole movement and eventually made people believe she was the single reason why DADT was repealed when this was an ongoing fight for years. She got the recognition for the work other people did for ages. Once again she stole something from people to gain attention.

And I refer you to the answer I just gave. I can repeat myself too. If she can get the praise and credit of being a spokesperson, she can get the criticism too. She has influence and what she says matters. Anyone willing to praise her for speaking up about Pussy Riot or whatever is acknowledging this and a facile resort to 'she can do what she wants, she's not you' is just embarrassing. We could say that about most people who say or do anything.

Chelle, you are so adorable. Love the term Miserable goats.

There is a reason that the majority of Madonna fans come to this forum though. Good to spend time online with Madonna fans who actually like and appreciate her rather than wring their hands in despair wondering if they still like her and if she deserves to be liked.

I know of (or KNEW of) a few people that represent that forum...and all I can say is I'm not surprised. You should meet them in person. NO DIFFERENT. Like why bother even claiming to be a Madonna fan if you are such a fat miserable cunt.

what a genius dress and great impassionate, ironic speech (btw, it was about intolerance, hate and discrimination....).....

however i'm disappointed she didn't talk about the italian Democratic Party not wanting to put gay marriage in his political agenda....i mean...she even talk about palestine and nothing on italy in a ten minute speech????? WTF????

I'm upset that Madonna didn't talk about Arabi Vindaloo from Afghanistan and how he was jailed for stuffing butt plugs up his ass.

Madonna has absolutely the right to say & do whatever she feels or thinks, but I admit I have some mixed feelings about the speech. I also have experienced some negative feelings about her political points through the years, but I was just happy to see her being very funny & looking silly.

I'm a very political person in my everyday life, but for me I like Madonna mostly to escape from everyday problems through her music, fashion, & concerts. I hope we get to see more of her ass out in the public eye in the near future!

She looks cute. Quite ... boyish. And so small! But cute. It's nice to see the return of her booties she wore so much in the 80s.
