Guest jamesshot
Uh no. Who knows how well it would have sold w/o it. I dunno, maybe it would have but it is embarrassing for such a bad song. No one will remember it next month much less next year.
Shane
I don't know anyone really, that likes her to much. I hear more and more comments that her songs sound the same. Unfortunately, I do. Two of them. One is the most annoying gay I have ever laid eyes on, and whenever "We Belong Together" would come on at the club, he would just freak out and scream and cry. She really does have devoted fans. What they see in her I cannot understand, but I am of the opinion that if music moves you and means something to you, I am not one to judge. However, I can't stand her myself and find it hard to get through an album's worth of material.

mtzlplk
my point is... mariah is now a "classic" act... just like madonna. she's proven herself over and over (whether we like it or not and whether we understand why or not)... and to open with 500K after 18 years... well, that's just impressive. agrees... 18 yrs in the biz and oening with 500k in album sales is a huge achievement no matter how forgetful your #1s are... but of course she's been doing a month's worth of TV promo including the album release week, so she deserves the big opening

dimfanis
Mariah is only 430K = 100% yesterday in Italy and Germany today E=MC2 flooped in France as well #6 I think she will end up a little less than 500K. Probably 490K or so. If she sells less than that then Madonna should also sell less than the expected target of 350K.

dimfanis
WRONG! I certainly hope I'm wrong but I think Mariah's first week sales reflect the market and how "big" an album from a superstar and with huge promotion can open these days ...

Guest iMisto
If Madonna promotes it right, I definitely think she can outsell Mariah's 430k. I mean, even though TMB hit #1, 4M has already outsold it..... Maybe the same will happen with the albums? ... Wait, I take that back. BL sold more than TMB.. And the album didn't do THAT well. Wait! I take that back too, cause Leona is not an established artist! I'm confused and lost now.

sniper
Wait till the final numbers are out. Mariah's promo did not "decrease" her sales. with figures of the first day HDD predicted more over 500K! HDD knew about coming Oprah and American Idol. And they hoped that she will pass 600K after them! If I remember correctly the article was named "will Mariah pass 600K level?" or something like that. But Oprah and AI just decreased predicted +500K
scrapple
when i said 430k it wasnt supposed to mean that thats all she would sell. just by doing the basic math it works out that way from the percentages in so . for all we know, she could sell an additional 250k just from the last 25% not reported.
