Well a billboard doesn't drum up a ton of excitement. And that is what people have to do to sell- drum up excitement. It isn't enough to have promotion. You have to get people talking about your project, get em- drum roll- excited. 'Celebration' just kinda laid there like a Tiffany GH would.

Anyway, Glee should provide some renewed interest.

she released a song and a video and was touring the world. i dont know else she could have done.

although they would never say it, sometimes i think madonna fans want this:

Soooo true :lmao:

They want her hustling on the fucking street, like she just burst onto the scene last year...

Celebration was a greatest hits package, spanning her almost 30 years in the business. Why exactly should she be promoting it, like it was first or last record? Everyone on the planet has already heard those songs for more than a generation now. They need to let it go, and move on. Madonna has.

It's all about the fabulous S&S dvd now :wow::thumbsup:

LMFAO.

Pudster, I hope that wasn't aimed at me? :)

I disagree with those saying 'Celebration' sells itself. I dunno, I just wanted it to be an event like it should be. Sigh.

Jane says she wears all the outfits from the "Vogue" video- even the sheer blouse? :D Granted, it won't make her look quite as- ahem- ample on her, I'm guessing.

I bet they submit this eppy for Emmy consideration. Just having Jane wear all those outfits is going to be fall on the floor funny.

I'm not happy about this because that means that these people are gonna butcher Madonna's songs like there's no tomorrow. These Glee people are specialists in butchering good songs.

There apparently will be an Audio CD release of the tracks used for the show:

You know Madge won't be crazy about the lace gloves- when the Royal Philharmonic had lace gloves on its tribute album cover, she said it was so tired. hehe Then again, that was before she re-embraced the older material, called a clothing line "The Material Girl," etc.- plus, some will say she likes the gloves to cover the hands.

yes, but make sure the music she is desperately promoting is avant guard and sounds nothing like anything an American or non-fan might want to listen to

^Madonna has enough cred to have a foot in the avant-garde world. She's done some music that is avant-gardish, but, of course she's a mainstream artist- just one who's merged art and commerce just about better than anyone.

Anyhow, pre-order the Glee CD while supplies last. :p

it's all in good fun though.. it's meant to be campy

Campy doesn't necessarily have to be a synonym for butchering, destruction, and soulless and powerless vocal performances.

It would be pretty sad if the Madonna Glee CD sells more then her actual greatest hits here in the states. :(

I wouldn't be suprised at all. Anyway she will chash in on every song download from itunes, amazon and physical sales as well. In addition to that it will surely raise interest in the orignals and therefore they will sell as well. This whole project is a win win situation.

Glee cast discusses the Madonna episode.

Love the guy talking about wanting to do a tribute episode and how Madonna deserves the tribute for her cultural contribution...

The EP release date has been pushed back a week, to coincide with the episode's air date.

The project is a good on, from a business standpoint- it exposes Madonna and her music to the younger crowd (the show does decently in the demo ratings). Not that the young crowd will go crazy for a 51-year-old, but it will expose youth to and remind about great music (six bonafide classics are being used for the episode, after all).

jonski, did ya not see my post about the "Glee" EP? :)

During Karaoke Idol tonight, there was a "Glee" commercial, and it showed the one girl starting "Like a Prayer," and then the whole crew (with choir) on stage, "rocking" the song.
