Gaudet Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 I'd like to know, if all of these so called journalists are mostly giving 3 out of 5 to Madonna, what and whom in their infinite knowledge (sarcasm) would be worth 5 full fucking stars?

Michael. Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 I had a look at the “top albums” on metacritic and they are so wanky.

Beastialg Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Right now any review on the 60's will one make the total metric down one point. So she will need lots of 60's and almost none in the 80's and that won't happen.
Boki_D Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Another 4 star review! https://inews.co.uk/culture/madonna-madame-x-album-review/ Does this count for metacritic?

rocknrolla Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 It's the same thing as rebel heart, she could have put a well reviewed album together, but when you throw things on there that everyone hates like killers, they have to take points off

I’m guessing her goal was to express herself creatively. And the album is receiving positive reviews.

I think the deluxe edition crap is really unnecessary too. make a 12 song album and call it a day. Or at least recognize when stuff like Mercy belongs on the album instead of Killers or Loca

THE track on the album that cements the Lisbon and Portuguese influences in the most amazing soundscape and production! The lyrics are abrasive but for a very specific reason! Irony is her brand!
Steve Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 I’m good with the different versions. I’d rather have these songs released in their time and praised/criticized, then to have a posthumous album with unreleased tracks that are received and accepted because the artist is dead by the estate.
Shane Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Killers Who Are Partying has started getting some good notices in the reviews now.

JohnnyUtah Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 (edited) Killers is amazing despite some lyrics (other lines are just brilliant, like the chorus "The world is wild, the path is lonely" in portuguese). Also, it has one of the richest and most original productions on the album. It's evocative and intimate, melancholic and modern; a key song to understand what Madame X project is. Looking for Mercy, on the other hand, is just a nice catchy ballad. It coud fit in any pop album. Edited June 12, 2019 by JohnnyUtah
boy skeffington Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 I want all the songs. The more songs the better for me. The album format is dying so just give me all the songs.
rocknrolla Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 I want all of them, it's just if you don't like them you have to deduct points. (I've only heard the official ones) The funny thing is, most people criticize MDNA, but they usually disagree on which songs are the best and which are the worst.

Perhaps. The music on that song is flawless. Madonna neutered it with her lyrics. Just my take. The lyrics elsewhere on the album are nothing short of brilliant. God Control, I Don't Search. Every album has a lyrical clunker. Shame it had to be that 1.

Ai Papi Si. Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Yeah I don't wanna be too hard on Loca. It's fun. It's like the Spanish Lesson of the album. Obviously a playful little moment. And her and Maluma have chemistry like you wouldn't believe Honestly thats the thing about Madame X... even the weaker songs are still really great. UGH I AM IN LUV
side_streets Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Not a review, but The Independent published also this. Lo siento. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/madonna-madame-x-age-controversy-sexism-career-billboard-pop-music-a8955036.html
Bigger Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Slant review mentions that Killers lyrics could be in part inspired by the poem First They Came. Madame X is a teacher indeed. First they came for the CommunistsAnd I did not speak outBecause I was not a CommunistThen they came for the SocialistsAnd I did not speak outBecause I was not a SocialistThen they came for the trade unionistsAnd I did not speak outBecause I was not a trade unionistThen they came for the JewsAnd I did not speak outBecause I was not a JewThen they came for meAnd there was no one leftTo speak out for me
