Jazzy Jan Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Dutch interview about the album Popeline, this is fantastic. How beautiful Madonna is in Green and this captured her whole Like a Virgin Look that swept the world. Also, how incredible was it to see all of the "Wannabees" going to the concerts. It really shows her influence and also brings home our brave and smart she was to change her image while still dominating popular culture and having so many girls copying and dressing like her. It would have been so easy to stay the same but Madonna always knew what she was doing - she went with what she wanted to do and the intuition and knowledge that people do want change. What a superstar - no other female singer has been in her league.
Roland Barthes Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 30 years ago on november the 6th 1984, "Like a virgin" (song) was released ; http://www.wat.tv/video/like-virgin-30-738d3_731yn_.html
Jamesy Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Really good this - promise... LAV writers Billy Steinberg & Tom Kelly talking to the BBC in 1994 about LAV, trying to get tickets to the Virgin Tour and finally meeting Madonna. It's funny!
Roland Barthes Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 She's such a classic Hollywood superstar, that's so Bette Davis/Joan Crawford/Dietrich/Mae West of her !

anastaza Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Loving all of this!! This was the era that my 6-year old self fell in love with all those years ago. *sigh*
nick00 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I remember as a kid that I went with a friend to a local record store after LAV single was released. He purchased it & many years later I found out he was a big queen who like to bottom.
Jazzy Jan Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Fantastic. Johnny Depp - another Madonna fan. Yippee.
qans1990 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 That's so cool that Johnny Depp is a huge M fan! The article he linked to was very interesting. The Huff Post also did a great story on all of the major live performances of Like A Virgin. (I voted the MDNA Tour version as my fave) http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/06/madonna-like-a-virgin-evolution_n_6110764.html
HolidayGuy Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 LAV doesn't have the depth of albums that came later, but it's an enjoyable album. "Over and Over" remains one of my favorite Madonna album tracks. Even "Shoo-Bee-Doo" is endearing. The weakest track probably is "Pretender," but even that's tolerable fluff. (I do prefer the STR mix of LDLHA to the one on this album, though). Happy 30th.
HolidayGuy Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Spanish publication Rock deLux published the 300 Best Albums 1984-2014, and, guess what album is ranked No. 160? It's the only Madonna album on the list. Another list where the Virgin leaves the Prayer and all other M albums in the dust. I don't agree with it, but, hey, it's ACCLAIM for Her Madgesty, regardless.
qaz Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I cant believe the song is 30 yo. That means I have been a fan for 30 years now!!
Guest gang bang Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Fantastic. Johnny Depp - another Madonna fan. Yippee. THIS
jonski43 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I cant believe the song is 30 yo. That means I have been a fan for 30 years now!! Me too! Who else is now in the the thirty year fan club? One of the reasons I became a fan was because when I turned LAV over, the b-side, Stay, was as good as they a-side. This is still one of the great songs from LAV!
MerGirl Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 How do we know that account belongs to the real Johnny Depp? It's not a verified account.
nick00 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 My personal favorites from LAV album are over & over & angel. The artwork from the album also looks great on the original vinyl.
agclef Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Me too, but it's actually been OVER thirty-years----SO MUCH great music!!! Me too! Who else is now in the the thirty year fan club? One of the reasons I became a fan was because when I turned LAV over, the b-side, Stay, was as good as they a-side. This is still one of the great songs from LAV!
