You know that string theory that scientist still debate. So imagine: 1. There has to be at least one Universe where Madonna doesn't exist 2. There has to be another Universe where Like a Prayer doesn't exist, because she decided another thing. 3. In another Universe, there are 2 more videos for TB: Where's the Party and White Heat 4. In another Universe, there is a video for Impressive Instant. 5. In another Universe, Vogue is a b-side for KIT. and on, and on and on. I think the extraordinarily sad and early departure of her mother was only half the story. I feel like her relationship with men (including her father) made her desire to do more. Madonna is an extremely strong female figure and it's no accident. I'm not sure if it was Paglia who theorised that the rape she suffered was the turning point for Madonna but I feel like the 'strong' men surrounding her and the lack of a 'natural' mother figure created the gorgeous creature that we know as Madonna.
