Guest Danny86
According to one of the admins of Haven, the DVD is not charting on the DVD Music Videos Chart because its sales are counted as album sales. Which explains the small % drop in last week's sales, since that was the first week of DVD sales.

Which explains the small % drop in last week's sales, since that was the first week of DVD sales. I thought as much because this weeks sales have been way lower and the DVD wasn't showing in the top ten music DVD on the Radio 1 website, which shows the official top ten music DVD. Oh well if she ends up with 30k this week, that is ok as the physical market is depressed, plus hopefully her sales next week will be similar/ not drop as much. I wonder if there is a breakdown of sales for the DVD still?

funkydita
According to Friday's midweeks the Celebration DVD isn't in the Top 50 Music Video chart. However 2,188 units of the album's sales are categorised as "DVD". A few albums within the top 200 have DVDs counting toward sales. Strangely, Michael Jacksons Number Ones DVD sales are counted in both charts. If Friday's positions remain then Celebration DVD would be at 3 in the Music Video chart. The only information I have from last week is the update from 1st October. DVD sales were 6,377 units, compared to 4,066 for Moonwalker, the number one in the Music Video chart at that point. Guest Danny86
^Thanks! But why do they allow that? Is it because DVD sales are so low that they don't add much to the totals anyway? Are DVD totals of Number Ones and Moonwalker available? And how come MJ counts for both charts?
Guest Danny86
Got it answered at Haven: Rules For Chart Eligibility - Albums - October 2008 Standalone DVD Albums An album may be released on a DVD format and its sales combined with other format variants, provided there is a chart eligible CD of the same album on general release bearing the same title as the DVD format. In order for the DVD album to be combined 80% of tracks on one of the available CD formats should appear on the DVD format.

aeroco
so this means that sales of the Celebration DVD SHOULD count with the CD sales... but it doesn't say here if those DVD sales would also count on a separate Video chart... They don't. They are either combined with the CD for the album chart or will count as a separate sale for each chart. Thanks to funkydita for confirming, though am shocked at how low DVD music sales are nowadays. No wonder I can't find the DVD for sale in any of my local supermarkets, only seen it in HMV or online. fak
not sure if sugababes would be a flop. its spent 3 weeks in the top 10 but then again i dont think digital songs really fall that fast do they? i cant stand that new mika song its horrid! the first album was quite good but now he has just become annoying. Not yet but till then here are some some flop chart runs with this week's positions: We Are Golden – Mika (5) Chart run: 4-11-13-21-39 Get Sexy – Sugababes (6) Chart run: 2-8-10-15-20-
Guest Danny86
The drop of Sugababes is indeed faster than average. I know Sugababes' previous era was not a success but before that they were having multiple week #1s like Madonna. I'm not that shocked about "Celebration" considering it freefell out of the airplay top 20, Radio 1 barely supported it and of course the video version confusion. But technically "Give It 2 Me" did better other than the peak, right? Wasn't it more weeks in top 20?

fak
GI2M seemed to be around forever. It was on the top 40 for a while. It was top 20 for 2 weeks, and possibly another 3-4 weeks between 11-20. Celebration has behaved just exactly as M sigles have done from 1995-2006. Funnily enough Mika and Sugababes have also had a chart run which would have been similar to pre-digital era. Sugababes have gone down quite fast actually. Celebration got a lot of airplay overall though. 3 weeks in the top 5, 4 moreweeks between 6-11. Quite a strong and long run. Even though R1 did not play C much, they surprisingly played it on their countdown today even though it fell11 places. They did not play Gaga Lovegame which fell less. I is only the second time i heard C on radio. I have never heard it played on a normal radio show programme yet. Yet I heard La isla Bonita twice on Thursday! I keep hearing Mika, Beyonce and little boots. i do flick around stations a lot and it makes me wonder what times did they play C? Night time? The drop of Sugababes is indeed faster than average. I know Sugababes' previous era was not a success but before that they were having multiple week #1s like Madonna. I'm not that shocked about "Celebration" considering it freefell out of the airplay top 20, Radio 1 barely supported it and of course the video version confusion.
