promise to try
and are these two charts going to be the official ones? i mean, like 4 years ago they had problems because they printed the chart before the year end, and finally the number 1 was different! (I guess the rpoblem was between keane´s first album and Scissor sisters first album)

fak
the official top 40 sellers of 2008 will be counted down by radio 1 on new years eve - or well it used to be. thats why the chart changes - people publish their own charts.

fak
AL was hardly preceded by a smash-hit and was nt produced by commerical producers. but i think AL would have been somewhere in the top 75 if lucky Amen to dat. Braby
BBC Radio 2 are airing a special four-part programme for the New Year, counting down the THIRTY biggest-selling singles of the careers of Michael Jackson, Prince, Motown and Madonna in the UK. Madonna's one aired today, complete with the history behind the recording of each track, as well as commentary from various musicians and celebrities. A real interesting listen for fans. I'm sure it will be on iPlayer soon so if anyone's interested in seeing what track ranks where, have a listen.

Braby
Right, here you go then, the Top 30 biggest-selling Madonna songs in the UK, from Radio 2. It's exactly the same as the list someone posted a few months back from VH1, though it seems Beautiful Stranger and Like A Prayer have switched places (they WERE 8 and 9 respectively). 1 Into The Groove 2 Like A Virgin 3 Holiday 4 Crazy For You 5 Papa Don’t Preach 6 True Blue 7 Hung Up 8 Like A Prayer 9 Beautiful Stranger 10 Frozen 11 Vogue 12 La Isla Bonita 13 4 Minutes Madonna & Justin 14 Music 15 Material Girl 16 American Pie 17 Who’s That Girl 18 Don’t Cry For Me Argentina 19 You’ll See 20 Borderline 21 Gambler 22 Live To Tell 23 Erotica 24 This Used To Be My Playground 25 Ray Of Light 26 Dear Jessie 27 Causing A Commotion 28 Justify My Love 29 Hanky Panky 30 Dress You Up All in all, an interesting programme. They stated that TIC had sold 4 million copies in the UK Some interesting archive interview footage also. at Kylie Minogue saying she had "Ray of Light" on repeat on her kitchen stereo. Guest Hafo
LAP and BS were back to back on the VH1 list! 8..Beautiful Stranger.............1999....513,992 9..Like A Prayer..................1989....513,231 I have a hunch the list from Radio 2 is older than VH1's : 4 Minutes is now over La Isla Bonita, and on Radio 2 shows up below. Probably BS had stronger sales in 2008 than LAV?
fak
good list thanks so much for it........the list is a total eye opener..... a no1 is not even in the top 30 - Sorry.... quite a few of the top 10 are non no1's......2,3,4 ...which have outsold all but 1 of the no1s of course..... no9 was a no2 too......BS has outsold LAP, Frozen, Vogue......... Madonna's longest running No1's Vogue and 4 mins are her 7th and 9th best selling no1's.........surprisingly out told by TB.....a 1 week no1 I think and not even a first release! None of the non-top 5 songs made it on the list..... with so much compettion im surprised....23, 24, 27, 29 are that high! we should make a separate thread for this.... Right, here you go then, the Top 30 biggest-selling Madonna songs in the UK, from Radio 2.
