^ I think that has recieved SOME mixed reception but mainly in the US. If you look at the Live Nations website there are many dates that they won't even let you click on because they are SOLD OUT COMPLETELY, & trust me if there were some available they would keep the links live. It's the second dates in some of the markets that are "struggleing" lol. Even with Houston live nation has put "limited tickets available" on the link & if you search for them there is shit left in that entire stadium. First dates in Paris(second now also),Oakland,Chicago,Denver Vegas,NJ,Protugal,Switzerland,& New York shows just to name a few are sold out & near impossible to get tickets to with the expection of some shit tickets behind the stage being available. Since when is hits an legit source within the touring industry? I can't what until the Boxscores come in.

HITS:

SUMMER TOUR ROUND-UP: Handicapping the summer touring competition, the reunited New Kids on the Block are doing huge business, and Madonna’s first tour as a Live Nation artist is getting a mixed reception thus far, while George Michael’s comeback tour appears to be tanking. Other borderline tours have promoters, agents and managers trying desperately to control spin. (6/6p)

Perhaps they are basing the "mixed reception" on sales through the thousands of tickets being sold through places like stubhub? Tickets may not be moving like they have for the previous tours.

I really bet that New Kids is going to end up making more money than Madonna? :lmao: This is just silly, I mean they maybe moving tickets faster in some markets but given that the average price of those tix is like 50 dollars, I hardly think it's fair to compare. They are also doing some shit venues(some really good ones too) but it hardly pails in comparison to multiple night stand in grande arena & stadiums w/350 tckets. Madonna will by far make the most money for the venues, livenation,& for herself than any other artist this year. I just can't even handle hits stupidity.

Well, this is the 4th time in 7 years that she'll be going to a lot of the same markets. Look at Denver who has never seen her at all and they have a 2nd night added (pretty impressive for a "smaller" market). Look at NYC they have probably had somewhere around 17 or 18 shows in the past 7 years (if you add all the dates of the previous tours) yet she still has managed to have a 4th night added there. I think before a lot of people assumed because of her age that they better go and see her because "this may be the last time she tours again". Now, it looks like she has no signs of slowing down. Also, undoubtedly the economy may play a role in this too. A lot of people just DO NOT have $350 to piss away on a concert right now. Not sure if people outside the US fully realize but it's BAD here right now.

Personally I think she should've skipped Philly and Boston this time. Between those two cities didn't she do 5 or 6 shows only 2 years ago?? I mean those are big markets but not HUGE ala NYC or LA so why go to those places EVERY SINGLE TIME. She should've done DC (since she missed them last tour) and also did Detroit (she hasn't been there since DWT). Good to see she's doing SOMEWHERE in the south (Atlanta) besides south Florida this time though.

Until a few years ago no one would have called Madonna a regular touring act but now she is. Perhaps, the presumption that she'll always be there (esp. with the LiveNation deal) people don't see the urgency to spend big bucks to see Madonna before she disappears?

I'll stay away from recession talks because, personally, I have not had to make one single adjustment because of any rising costs.

In the end Madonna will still do very well because she has a reputation for putting on great shows. She may overreach in some markets and take a few hits to her ego because of that, but she'll do just fine. I've said this before, a tour does not need 100% sellouts to be a success. If that was the case most tours would lose money.

I had a bad feeling about her sales this time. Mind you, it will not be anywhere near a flop. However, some of the prices are waaaay too high for Stadium shows. Arenas, yes, she can get away with that. I personally know many many hard core fans not going to see her in HOUSTON because its too much money.

^ Funny enough Houston has a very limited amount of tickets left. If you go to M's live nation site it says limited tickets on the link & if you search on ticket master there is shit seats left for both double ticket & single ticket searches.

I just think they are down to only one section left in Houston, it's the Limited View. A friend of mine just bought 4 tickets there at $165 because he really wants to see her....hopefully they will be able to see her.

Madonna Receives an Offer She Couldn’t Afford to Miss

Budva wins the “war” against Belgrade and Zagreb: Pop-queen to Perform at Jaz Beach in September

Podgorica – Despite contradictory information over Madonna’s performance at Budva, recent developments leave no doubt: the queen of pop will perform at Jaz beach this September.

This information had been confirmed to Vijesti by several reliable sources, including the concert’s organizers, who claim that the spectacle would take place either on 23 or 25 September, depending on which date would fit into Madonna’s touring schedule.

This also means that Budva had won the “war” against Belgrade and Zagreb, which have also attempted to qualify as host to the concert.

The concert of the queen of pop stands as another example of a world-class spectacle taking place in Budva, following the last year’s concert of “Rolling stones” and recent speed-boats’ World Cup.

According to Vijesti’s information, a key-person who has arranged Madonna’s arrival is one of Montenegro’s most influential individuals, Budva’s citizen Svetozar Marovic, who also played the crucial role in setting up two earlier mega-events.

Madonna’s honorary remains a secret at this point, although well-informed circles in Budva claim that the “pop star has received an offer she could not afford to miss.”

Earlier speculations maintained that the organizers had offered $ 5 million. It can now be assumed that the figure must have been even higher. This assumption is supported by the reporting of Croatian media, reading that Zagreb and Belgrade’s offer had been exceeded by Budva’s by whole $ 4 Million. This resulted with queen of pop’s decision to turn Budva’s beach of Jaz into the ground for her only concert in the region. According to Jutarnji list, Zagreb had been prepared to pay $ 10 million.

The spectacle at Jaz would, most probably, be the last in a series of Madonna’s performances in Europe this year, as already on 4 October she has concerts set to take place in the US.

Queen of Pop’s tour, which is entitled “Sticky and Sweet” and promotes her latest album “Hard Candy”, opens at Cardiff on 23 August. It is expected that her performance at Budva would soon be announced at her official touring-schedules, which also includes European metropolis Berlin, Zurich, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Paris and London.

FANTASTIC! This was one of the first shows rumoured, and it also enforces the chances of that Athens concert that's been rumoured forever in that timeframe. She should still do Zagreb - or Budapest though since there's so few Euro dates this time.

I think before a lot of people assumed because of her age that they better go and see her because "this may be the last time she tours again".

oh come now.. she will enter that phase within the next 10 years, but it was a marginal factor IF AT ALL in her 40's

MADONNA IN MONTENEGRO

Madonna concert in Budva

International pop superstar Madonna will hold a concert in Montenegro, the local press is reporting, while on a global tour to celebrate her 50th birthday.

The concert is expected to take place on Budva’s Jaz Beach in either late August or early September, where the Rolling Stones played last year.

The show was agreed upon with Madonna’s management and the Democratic Party of Socialists’ Vice President Svetozar Marović, who advocated bringing the pop icon following last year’s success with the Rolling Stones.

Why does everyone believe everything they read? Who gives a shit what HITS says and what are they basing that on... The fact that you could buy tickets still? It's one person who probably logged onto ticketmaster and pulled up $95 seats at one of the stadium shows she is doing.

Why does everyone talk like they are experts in the concert tour and promotion industry?

The only reason I say that is because I actually heard people saying it at her shows. In fact a girl I was talking with at a CT show asked me if I thought this would be the last time she toured. I think most of us diehards know better, but the general public thinks "45 years old....bitch is old....this could be the last time she tours."

LOL. Everyone should know better after her new 'Live Nation' deal.

They'll have her tours closer together than she's ever done before.

:dramatic: I remember people asking the same thing about the RIT.

I think they really are fans, just not as hardcore as those of us who come to M Forums.

Madonna in Belgrade, Serbia

Madonna Concert Belgrade SerbiaAfter many speculations about Madonna’s concerts in Eastern Europe (rumors circulated around Budva and Zagreb), the Belgrade daily Blic has exclusively announced the pop diva is actually coming to Belgrade, Serbia on the 25th of September.

The "Sticky and Sweet" tour promoting Madonna's new album "Hard Candy" will start in August. The Belgrade concert will take place in Usce, an amazing outdoor venue at the confluence of the city's two rivers, and the same place that hosted one of the best recently held Belgrade concerts – Rolling Stones. The famed Madonna Louis Chicone is renowned for her outstanding showmanship as well as perfectionist management – so we can all expect a phenomenal show.

So if you are in the region, or coming specifically for the concert remember to visit Belgrade Eye again as we will keep you updated on any changes and official announcements. If you need a hotel in Belgrade or hostel please visit our section on accommodation as we are expecting to have a great number of discounts from accommodation providers.

Last year Madonna signed a contract with “Live Nation” worth an unbelievable 120 million dollars. The contract stipulates that Live Nation will organize all promotions, publish records, organize tours, and deal with endorsements for Madonna.

The tour hasn't sold out in the USA and that is why Madonna is adding in shows in Europe pretty simple.

Not all cities have gone on sale, have they? She is selling fine for now esp with the horrible US economy. She is just selling a tad slower.

^ That is the dumbest comment I have read on this forum in quite some time.

I wouldn't talk about anyone being dumb if I were you. You are the epitome of the type of fan who only sees things through rose tinted glasses. As sweet as it seems, it's unrealistic.

mad_on_her, the concert isn't on until AUGUST there are lots of time for the US tickets to get sold out, this has also been the situation in TCT, there were shows that weren't instant sellers... so it is indeed a dumb comment to insinuate that the reason why MADONNA added more shows in EUROPE is because she's selling slow in the US... maybe if you said that the demand in EUROPE is so overwhelming that she added more dates, that would make much more sense

This Serbia-Montenegro-Croatia rumor mill has me confused. I wish they would pick a city already and start selling tickets. This stop is reminding me of what a nightmare the location for the Moscow concert was in 2006.
