george28 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Every time I listen to the True Blue album or in general Madonna songs on shuffle on my phone and White Heat comes on, I always wonder why it never became a hit. Unless it did gain recognition back when the True Blue album came out in which case I wouldn't know because I was a month and a half old when it came out, lol. But as far as I know it was never a song that was recognized or even acknowledged except for the Who's That Girl tour. I personally feel it could have been a big single, it had everything that the 80's Madonna era hits had, fun, danceable and catchy lyrics, but seems like it was not a single that was ever promoted.
jonski43 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I remember it being talked about when the album came out. The album was just huge. Where 's The Party was the hit that never was. You can dance got pushed back a year and who's that girl comes long do they ran out of release time for more singles. Great album track!
TrueBlue Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I have a feeling it was too much going on at the same time too. But I always loved it!
dollhouse Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Love it but "Wheres the Party" was even more worthy single
Guest Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 How do you like that boys? And we went for it. I went for it....
kingvirtue Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Love it but "Wheres the Party" was even more worthy single I agree!
channel83 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Completely agree. I was a tween when I got the cassette and remember thinking it was my favorite song on the album at the time. Loved it. If she sang that in the tour it would crush me!
spotlight Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 both WH and WTP could've been big hits had they been released imho
david86 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 love her papa dont preach voice on WH she sort of reserved this voice for true blue album exclusively. she goes more angelic after this record. shows how versatile a singer... million dollar voice
george28 Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 A nice gold medal for the copper, only he's gonna get it sooner than he thinks
5iVe Elements Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 TBH I don't get the White Heat love and the Jimmy Jimmy hate. I thought JJ was awesome and WH was forgettable. If it wasn't for that movie line at the beginning, I wouldn't even remember the song.
Starman Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 The True Blue non singles are her worst sonhs ever for me , cant get into at all
Pablo94 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 White Heat is a forgotten gem, if it wasn't for the abundance of amazing singles on the album, it would have definitely been a single The bridge alone LYFE
spotlight Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 where do u think she got the title for the song? i've always wondered.
Love Spent Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Love it! It was and still is a highlight of the WTG tour.
ThinkOfMe Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 where do u think she got the title for the song? i've always wondered. Not sure if your being serious or not but the movie White Heat with James Cagney the quotes in the song are from
martemahoney Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I do remember listening to the song and really liking it. It probably wasn't released because they didn't want to flood the market with Madonna, her songs were constantly on the radio back then. I think that's why Into the Groove wasn't released as a single as well.
Guest Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 where do u think she got the title for the song? i've always wondered. Really? How old are some of you guys????????
Jazzy Jan Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Loved it. The lyrics are great too - " I don't want to live out your fantasy. Love's not that easy" and " Can you feel the rhythm of my mind" Madonna's songs always have those hidden gems of lyrics.

If you're not ready to give, you're not gonna get much more
