SkyHigh76 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I wish that Madonna had titled the album 'Beat Goes On'.That would have been the perfect theme for what she was going through back then (divorce from Guy and from Warners)....."life sucks but the beat goes on....you gotta keep on living"
SkyHigh76 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Ok I will search in Google this "Madonna incredibly beautiful picture flawless queen" Nice picture! When Madonna works with the right stylists and hairdressers, she looks incredible!
Roland Barthes Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 To be fair i don't find the Confessions on a dance floor photoshoot to be great either. It has mostly been saved by Bianco by turning the pictures into almost drawings and he made them brighter. The sets from the photoshoots are not inspired, rehashes from the movie Tommy....I think i like the pics from the session even better as monochromic shadows as seen on stickers in the confessions tour book.
ratzuo Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 These are outtakes for a reason, she probably realised most pics weren't working and scrapped the majority of sets altogether. Still, the pics that were oficially released aren't half bad IMO.

pourhomme80 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Had we gone from the American Life cover to Hard Candy, coulda been fine but the problem was she EXCEEDED expectations at all levels with the confessions era, that Hard Candy was a letdown, from artwork to overall album (though I still love many tracks from this album) and that mess of a tour and the cheeks....
Roland Barthes Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 All is good in the end anyway because the Rebel Heart album cover kicks ass.
Guest CzarnaWisnia Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 that interview cover picture would have been better as an album cover, but I like it how it is. But that set wasn't the best idea, and as others have said, I think Madonna was feeling awful both emotionally and physically. Klein is a button pusher with a great team (who can be not so great apparently) instead of a photographer, so he couldn't make her look her best in the circumstances. That set in white with the corner?.... Klein, don't put Madonna in a fucking corner please.
Guest juliebean Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 don't care for these photoshoots she looks like man. I do like the gi2m outtakes, the ones on the couch there are some good ones.

I don't think the Hard Candy era was a letdown at all.The album is great and wasn't the tour (S&S) her most successful tour ever?
tycole6 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I agree with eroticerotic that the Sticky and Sweet Die Another Day video would have been a great overall theme and watching it now I was wondering to myself what it would have been like if the 4 Minutes video had been boxing themed as well. Like if the match took 4 minutes or something...not sure if would have been great or really cheesy lol. The only thing I do know for certain is that I want that wig with those god awful bangs to burn and die.
Starman Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 I don't think the Hard Candy era was a letdown at all.The album is great and wasn't the tour (S&S) her most successful tour ever? The lack a promo and only one proper video So give it 2 me which had the most potention got that elle photoshoot backstage was a let down
Ai Papi Si. Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 The letdown was the fact that the project was just abandoned after 4 Minutes, yes. And the album artwork. Not the tour. It's not to the hardcore fans liking because it's so "for the masses," but S&S did its job well. Revisionists like to say that it wasn't well received; hell no, that tour was fun for everyone. Madonna fans just prefer her to dig a little deeper and that's fair enough. But Madonna probably had a lot on her mind in 2008 and wanted to do a much more carefree show. I don't think she was ready to exorcise her demons with a divorce on the horizon. That came later with MDNA. I don't blame her. S&S has its flaws (awful costuming in 1 particular section) but whatever, I consider it a legendary tour for her; like the WTG of the 2000s. I actually love the album cover. The album sleeve is what is an insult. Pasting Madonna onto stock photos of candy corn is RIDICULOUS. Especially when you see what the initial photoshoot was. Jesus christ why? Why the sudden change? They had a whole concept down. Out of nowhere it became copy paste onto peppermint patties. I can't. It was a hard year for her. I really don't think the Tom Munro shoot was bad though. If you take a bunch of outtakes (OUTTAKES, I remind you) where she hasn't been photoshopped, of course the photos are gonna look shit. I think Klein has amazing moments and then some awful moments. He's not the most consistent photographer. But they have created magic together. I mean, the Confessions shoot with the creepy equestrian theme was so mind-blowing. in photos AND video. I wonder if Klein filmed the HC sessions. He seems to film all his sessions.
frzndrwnwrld Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I loved the X-Static Process exhibit, but didn't like the Re-Invention Tour shoot. Loved the Confessions and Future Lovers shoot, but REALLY didn't like the Hard Candy shoot. He's definitely not consistent.
pourhomme80 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I don't think the Hard Candy era was a letdown at all.The album is great and wasn't the tour (S&S) her most successful tour ever? after the Confessions album it was pretty disappointing for me. Its very easy to call a tour successful from a revenue stand-point when it is one of the most expensive tickets and ran for 2 yrs rather than her standard run of a tour. So yes, monetarily, its her most successful. Creatively a letdown though. As for the album - Atleast half the album is excellent - Why was Ring My bell only a b-side?? It shouldve been a single.
ULIZOS Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I will never forget that Willy Wonka looking video that was used as the tour opener at Sticky and Sweet. Then she was just sitting there. In a chair. Smiling.

StrikeItUp Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 With the same entrance from the promo tour haha I think I remember someone on here likening her S&S tour entrance with the Price Is Right showcase prize turntable with a wall on it. It was so apt!

IsaacHarris Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 They were going for a rough kinda vibe with those choppy wigs, the harsh lighting- M was looking 'raw & sticky' indeed. ...she was just sitting there. In a chair. Smiling. IT WAS MARVELOUS LIVE. She was so snatched & unbothered, like 'Hey, I'm here, let's do this.' Favorite tour intro ever.
sul8323 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 First and foremost, everybody takes a bad picture. These are bad pics, perhaps even altered to be bad. I have seen her looking flawless on live TV. She is a beautiful woman. I believe that these pictures could even be altered to purposely make M look bad. Secondly, Madonna is an artist. Stop being so fucking judgmental and see the art. Hear the message. People drive me crazy with their constant criticism. Realize that Hollywood and porn are all fake. 20 year-olds are airbrushed. Let Madonna get away with an off photo shoot. Jesus Christ.

We are not talking just about looks and pretty but how the shoot also has a bad art direction Even madonna knows it and thats why most of it was not released
johnpaul911 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I never liked the photos seen above even when they were retouched. You could tell she just wasn't "there" for it.
