New world tour to be announced next week!

When Diplo said that he'll be working with her on some more projects at the end of July I couldn't help but think of rehearsals for live shows.

she would be mad not to go to SA. I can see her cutting the number of shows per city in Europe unless the new album is a smash.

what if she doesn't tour and goes straight into directing Adé??

Then she better start renegoniating that contract...

I actually don't agree. Madonna, being who she is doesn't need new material to fill stadiums to the max. She can easily tour every year.

No. M already had problems selling out many stadiums for the MDNA Tour in Europe. The risk of oversaturation is there and it shouldn't be ignored. She is a major touring force, but not that huge to accomplish something like what you suggested. Pretty much nobody can.

^ Which stadiums did she have problems selling out in Europe? I remember Hyde Park struggled a fair bit but I think it had as much to do with the awful venue as it did her lack of popularity in England, which is a shame because it used to be one of her biggest and most exciting markets. I can't recall which other markets in Europe sales were a little slower.

Super Bowl ensured success in North America but I know it wasn't that big of a help elsewhere, in terms of moving tickets.

I'd like to see her steer away from stadiums but I know that's never going to happen unfortunately. As I live in Perth, I have never had the luxury of seeing her live but I would be pretty heartbroken if I were forced to see her live in a stadium after 25 years of supporting her.

I'm pretty certain if she does get her ass down here next year it will be a damn stadium tour as she only cares about the $ now, which sucks. I'd love to see a return to the way she toured Drowned World, all arena's. Does anyone have any theories as to why they did it that way in 2001? Do you think they were just testing the waters as she hadn't toured in 8 years???

I've seen loads of people say this, but how exactly did Hyde Park struggle? there were 55 thousand people there?

I think it's because it's capable of holding 2 x that amount, however it was a "sell out"

She should go back to Wembley Stadium

fair enough, but still 55,000 is a hell of a lot of people.

this tour I wanna see her in an arena, I'd already booked Hyde park before Birmingham was announced which is so shit because Hyde park was a bit disappointing and Birmingham was one of the smallest venues on the whole tour, imagine how intimate it'd have been

No stadiums in the UK this time round. Her stock is too low and she can do without another scathing review of her show here.

She needs to play the 02 in London, Birmingham NEC and possibly Manchester

She had problems in Vienna, as well as some Scandinavian cities like Gothenburg. Zurich didn't sell out either and AFAIK neither did Warsaw. And yeah as you said, Hyde Park struggled too. Needless to say the European leg was still succesful as hell (and every show was declared as sold out nonetheless) but there was a decreasement of attendance numbers compared to Sticky and Sweet.

Hyde Park was sold out and was packed. :lmao:

The reason why they couldnt do any other venues was because they decided to tour the UK right before the Olympics and the same week as the Queens Jubillee. Other sites had been booked up.

I just hope they aren't twats like usual and announce London first and add on regionals later, its a piss take. It seems like a trend though, (kylie, Prince ect) even comedians are doing it. You end up going twice or selling your London tix if you don't live there.

I don't mind going more than once because its Madge but my friends complain because she's so expensive and I end up paying for the trains and hotels. I cant afford it this time round, ive been too poorly to work for some time. My banks only got a few hundred quid in it, live nations got way more money than people like me to be fucking with us. I ain't standing behind a tall person in Hyde park for 6 hours im too short.

(Sorry Ozzies, I know I sound like a spoilt brat, I love ya x)

:rotfl:

I wanna be at a Madonna show right now

How magical :wow:

yeah the dates are booked VERY early. The Birmingham date was spot on and leaked a long time before the tix went on sale. People thought I was joking at the time. The announcement was really late for it. This also happened with the Manchester RIT dates everybody booked for London (including me) but it was already reported months before the correct dates booked at the arena.

Many are wrong though, fans making shit up so you cant be sure.

i read an articele with a concert organiser and she said the team behind an artist starts working on the tour one and a half years before the tour starts so I'm sure a lot of venues have already been booked for tour 2015

One of my fave Madonna fans who posts on this forum occasionally works for Live Nation. Hopefully he can give us inside scoop.

Thank god Hyde Park isn't a LN location anymore!

AMEN to THAT! :wow::clap:

I really hate to say it, but as much as I LOVED and enjoyed the concert etc., MDNA at Hyde Park was my least favourite Madonna gig ever.

Madonna won't repeat Birmingham again. I can share with you categorically that Birmingham was chosen as a venue at the last minute due to logistical issues. The MDNA Tour stage was too tall in height and could only be accommodated in either the NIA, the O2 Arena or the Phones4U Arena in Manchester due to the structural height of the three venues. Since LN took Madonna to Manchester in 2009, that's ultimately why Birmingham was chosen as a venue over Manchester that time round. Suffice to say, I'm sure there will be 3 UK dates again. London is a given, Cardiff (Millenium Stadium?) because she hasn't been there since 2006 for Confessions and then Manchester again as she hasn't played since 2009 (and it too seems to be a popular market inside the UK for M)

Economy is not on the shitter? Argentina is about to default for crying out loud...

If her ticket prices increase the same way they did between 2008 and 2012, you would have to pay close to 4,000 pesos for a ticket...

Lol, don't bother to cry out loud, first time a country paying its debt regularly is being called in default by a first instance US judge. Technicalities of politics I am not willing to discuss in here, which is a place to debate about Madonna. I will only add I don't believe South American market is going to be overlooked for its economy. It proved to be very profitable during the past decade and will continue to do so for some time at least. If she charges 4000 pesos a vip ticket (which is the one I'm assuming you're referring to) then it would be about 500 US Dollars, for what I can remember she didn't hesitate to charge way more than that in other countries and still played in packed venues. The only time the tickets were cheap here was when she played the S&S 08 cause she wanted the stadium absolutely full for the DVD. She's not going to be cheap, but she never was, so I wouldn't worry.

That may be why Paul Mcartney and the Rolling Stones have cancelled their argentinian dates then....

I wont even discuss your post...im stating facts...

2012 u$1 = 3.5 Pesos

2014 u$1 = 15.5 Pesos

I would love to evade to discuss your post too but you're not stating facts, you're stating lies. You say 1 us Dollar is 15 pesos when you perfectly know that that price is in the black market (and actually it's dropped now to below 14), you think an artist's profit would have her incomes exchanged with black market's rates rather than the real value which is 1 u$s: 8.50 pesos? Give me a break. You also say the dollar was 3.50 pesos in 2012, when you are one click away to check your info and be able to refresh your memory that the dollar was 4.80 in december 2012 http://www.cotizacion-dolar.com.ar/dolar_historico_2012.php

So then if you don't alter the figures it's:

2012 u$1 = 4.8 Pesos
2014 u$1 = 8.5 Pesos

which is an increase of 75% and not the 400% and something increase you just invented ...

now if you take for example the minimum wage in argentina in comparison it was

late 2012: $2670

2014: $4400

which is an increase in the wages of a 65%... so, yeah, I'm pretty sure things are a bit less dramatic than you try to make them look

I am stating facts you can check

kiss!

Cardiff (Millenium Stadium?) because she hasn't been there since 2006 for Confessions

Actually, Cardiff Millennium Stadium was opening night gig of the Sticky & Sweet Tour in 2008.

This makes no sense. Birmingham was logical as it was an untapped market and logistically and geographically smack bang in the middle of the other venues. Edinburgh turned out to be the most well received of the UK shows. Cardiff's S&S show was a disaster sales wise, failing to live up to her Confessions debut there, selling 20,000 less tix. I doubt that venue will ever be used again. RIT Manchester was a last minute replacement for Glasgow due to that dumb catwalk attached to the roof. There are now two appropriate sized venues in Glasgow and Leeds So it's all up in the air as far as a UK itinerary goes. Though I sincerely hope she sticks to arenas rather than stadiums this time around.

S&S Millennium Stadium was a disaster indeed. I still have nightmare flashbacks of the seats covered up with black curtains :(

No it's true. The NIA is actually taller than the O2. Even though the NEC can hold a larger attendance the stage structure was too tall. Remember when the show went to the states and the first show Philly I think, they had to change stuff for the show. M didn't leave the arena until 3am the night before. They didn't just choose the NIA because it's in the midlands because they would've just gone with the arena which can hold more people which is the NEC

Posted

LOL I still don't get it. How does that mean she'll never play Birmingham again? Also, when choosing the city for that extra date, London (with its tall roof) was a NO-NO as Hyde Park was still selling (badly) Manchester (with its tall roof) was a NO-NO as Edinburgh was still selling, so the NIA (with its tall roof) and in the Midlands, and in a previously un-visited city, WAS the obvious choice, no?
