the-queen Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Hell yes. Number one and Madonna go hand in hand.
XXL Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 It looks like Madonna has more catalogue sales yearly than most lesser music acts have of their current albums

ruey Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 This is an amazing co-incidence! I've been enjoying this album in particular from her collection in recent weeks. "Live To Tell" and "True Blue" should be played on radio!
loomer Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Kiss Me Once would kill for this success I wonder why it's taken Madonna so long to catch up digitally. LAP did well but her previous biggest selling single Into the Groove hasn't moved that much at all.
Kim Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Erotica for 49p NEXT please. Time to right that (No.2) wrong from 22yrs ago!

Msig Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Is this the official album chart or catalog chart? It's all album purchases in the UK Google Play Music store.

loomer Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I wish I kept my old Guinness Book of British Hit Albums, her weeks on chart is fascinating for chart geeks to spunk over. IIRC TB has around 85 weeks, solid but nothing compared to LAV and TIC though it's her top selling studio album by far with 1.9 million sold, the 10th biggest selling album ofthe 80s.

Although my copy was really, really old (1991 I think) and it was falling apart. I'm so annoyed with this 18-week on chart business when clearly TB is close to 100 weeks on chart (as you say, about 85 sounds right, if not even more) ! Chart experts to the rescue please?

blossom Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 It's quite an amazing thing to think there will be people right now somewhere who have just bought 'True Blue' and are listening to it for the very first time. Seeing that album cover at #21 takes me right back to 1986 - ah, halcyon days!
Mr Ciccone Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I'm surprised it didn't re-enter again in 2001 when the remaster was released...

Seeing that album cover at #21 takes me right back to 1986 - ah, halcyon days! Hopefully they explore more of her discography after doing so! Though it may well just be a lot of people who long ago discarded their physical copies adding it back to their now digital collections. Probably a mix of both and, any way you break it down, it's a great showing on the charts for a nearly 30 year old album.
Phineaspoe Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 This is awesome. And why not? Thirteen weeks leading up to the new album, sell each and every Madonna studio album for a nice discount. For one week each. Give them new masses an excuse to get acquainted with the Queen's massive back catalogue and PAY HOMAGE...
karbatal Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I'm surprised it didn't re-enter again in 2001 when the remaster was released... Me too.
