thebigham
HITS: YOUR WEAKEND TOP 10 PREVIEW: The guns of August continue to fire, topped by the Jonas Brothers (Hollywood), who should generate 160-175k in week two, distantly followed by Kid Rock (Atlantic), riding his old-school summertime single toward 100-105k territory. Nothing else appears to have a shot at six figures. Staind (Atlantic) will lead next week’s three Top 10 debuts with an expected 85-90k, good for #3, Ice Cube (Lench Mob/EMI) will be next with 60-65k, which should secure #6, and Shwayze (Suretone/Interscope) is on his way from Malibu to #10 with 45-50k. Yup, it looks like 50k will be all you’ll need to make next week’s Top 10. The rest of the biggest sellers are the new standbys: #4, Mamma Mia (Decca), 85-90k; #5, Miley Cyrus (Hollywood), 70-75k; #7, Sugarland (Mercury Nashville) 55-60k; #8, Lil Wayne (Cash Money/Universal Motown) 55-60k; and #9, Camp Rock (Walt Disney) 50-55k. Once again, Bob Cavallo’s crew will lead the way with three titles, as he enjoys a hot summer indeed. (8/22a)

Guest Hafo
Wonder if BKS could include Madonna instead of Mariah and Jennifer Hudson Huge fall for the Jonas Brothers in HITS and Estelle in digital!
HolidayGuy
Include Madonna rather than they? And why would he do that, with Madge's irrelevant airplay and sales tallies these days? 4M likely dopped out of the top 75 (it dropped 55-69 on the 8/30 chart). If 4M dropped out, both it and "Hung Up" spent 21 weeks on Hot Digital Songs.
Guest Hafo
Well, sales of Mariah are irrelevant as well Posting some totals would be nice --- anyway, no complaints, I am happy we can get sales of the Top 50.

thebigham
Billboard.com: Jonas Brothers Begin Second Week At No. 1 August 27, 2008 by Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Despite a huge drop-off from the gaudy numbers it posted last week, the Jonas Brothers begin a second week at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 with "A Little Bit Longer." The Hollywood set sold 147,000 units in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, 72% less than its debut total of 525,000. Kid Rock's "Rock'n'Roll Jesus" (Atlantic) continues to motor toward the summit, rising 3-2 on a barely perceptible sales decline to 101,000. Labelmate Staind's "The Illusion of Progress" opens at No. 3 with 92,000. The band's last three albums had all debuted at No. 1, with 2001's "Break the Cycle" shifting a whopping 716,000 copies in its opening week. The "Mamma Mia!" soundtrack (Decca) falls 2-4 on a 20% drop to 87,000, followed by a No. 5 debut for Ice Cube's "Raw Footage" (Lench Mob) with 70,000. His prior album, 2006's "Laugh Now, Cry Later," debuted at No. 4 with 144,000. Miley Cyrus' "Breakout" (Hollywood) slides 4-6 on a 27% sales decline to 62,000, while Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III" (Cash Money/Universal) is down 6-7 after a 7.8% slide to 57,000. Sugarland's "Love on the Inside" (Mercury Nashville) drops 5-8 after selling 56,000 (-15.5%) and Disney's "Camp Rock" soundtrack falls 8-9 on a 5.5% decline to 47,000. Shwayze's self-titled Interscope debut lands at No. 10 with 47,000. The group has enjoyed big visibility in the past month thanks to its MTV reality show, "Buzzin'." New at No. 13 is the Cheetah Girls' TV movie soundtrack "One World" (Hollywood) with 34,000, while the Academy Is... starts at No. 17 with its third album, "Fast Times at Barrington High." The Fueled by Ramen set sold 23,000. Further down the chart are new entries from Black Stone Cherry's "Folklore and Superstition" at No. 28 (Roadrunner, 14,000), Family Force Five's "Dance or Die" at No. 30 (Transparent Media Group, 13,000), GZA/Genius' "Pro Tools" at No. 52 (Babygrande, 9,000), Karina's "First Love" at No. 57 (Def Jam, 9,000) and Toadies' "No Deliverance" at No. 59 (Kirtland, 9,000). Album sales are down 4.7% from last week at 7 million units and 13% from the same week a year ago.
HolidayGuy
True, Sir Hafo- but Mimi has an active chart single, whereas Madge doesn't. So that's why bks doesn't report M's sales.
Kurt420
Why did Estelle pull her song/album from itunes??
HolidayGuy
A move of strategy, probably- that happened with Fergie and Missy Elliott at one point, and then the music was back on iTunes. But, it didn't work last week, as her album dropped in sales. What's happening with Kid Rock and his album (album sales getting big boost from non-digital availability) isn't going to happen to every album out there. thebigham
Ed Sadtler for the 9/06 charts: Full trajectories below. Some changes to the update this week. I am removing "The Immaculate Collection" as it seems unlikely to return to the Top Pop Catalog chart in connection with the "Hard Candy" project. Singles will remain in this update so long as they (i) appear on at least one chart or (ii) have charted on one or more charts and remain under consideration for release as singles (as is the case with "Miles Away" and "Beat Goes On"). I will be moving the most active single to the top of the listing (in this case "Give It 2 Me", although it is on its last legs in the US on all but the singles sales and dance charts). We'll see if the launch of the "Sticky and Sweet" tour in Europe fuels any increased sales on next week's chart. Braby
^ It's because the label removed "American Boy" from iTunes. There;sa cover version on iTunes (like there is with "All Summer Long"). It looks like it will debut on the Hot 100 next week. WHY? Has her album been released?
HolidayGuy
Estelle's album has been out as long as Madge's (17 weeks on the BB 200). Take a deep breath, you'll be OK- really.

HolidayGuy
Estelle's album is $6.99 at amazon.com, per as posted on her myspace page. Wonder if there are similar price slashes at non-Internet outlets.
