Europe's refugee crisis

Recommended Posts

Mess

And looking at it with cold strategic eyes it's a bit of karma against the northern countries, who have profited so much from the south and east. Now the refugees don't want to go to East Europe or Greece or Italy or Spain. They go north.

Some countries were so happy when they got ingeneers and architects from south. Now they will have to face another immigration. Unselected immigration.

Making south of Europe poorer is more expensive than having a whole developed Europe.

That said it's horrid what those families from Syria are suffering. They are people just like us. And their whole country is DESTROYED by greed from USA EU and Russia. And all because they want to control the territory so gas from south goes to Europe. If Russia wins it will go through Iran and Syria. If USA wins it will go through Iraq and Syria.

Greed, greed, greed. Pain, pain, pain.

No. You can't stop 100.000 or 200.000 people en masse from going wherever they want. Unless you are an island like UK or a big peninsula like Scandinavia you can't. And Hungary or Serbia or Bulgaria very happily will let them take trains north to wave them goodbye.

Just imagine how different this would have been if East Europe were as developed as it was prior 1990. But of course West Europe didn't want concurrence and very coldly destroyed all industry and possibilities.

Closing the borders will be a true test for Europe and for Brussels in the first place. I think those actions are actually not in line with European law and treaties. If Brussels lets those Eastern European countries get away with it without sanctions then this is just another step towards the end of the EU. First and foremost I believe the main reason why people are fed up with the EU is because of the things polticians in Brussels do or don't do. From the parliament, whose members a mostly D-List who couldn't make it in their own countries, to the comission. The fact that so many treaties have been broken that were meant to stabilize the EU is hard to understand for normal people. Now with those Eastern European countries doing their own thing brings the sentiment back that many of them should not have been part of the EU in the first place. Mostly because they hardly meet the human rights agendas of the EU. But did anyone care? No. Does anyone in Brussels care about the situation in Poland and how their right wing government has bascially cut certain civil rights. Brussels is crying foul when the same things happen in Russia. Where is their outcry about Poland? Hypocrisy much! But thanks to Brussles we got rid of those evil light bulbs and we finally have cucumbers that have the perfect shape. Good job!

While I agree that much of the industry has been destroyed by intention, I tell you that those industries would not have survived anyway because of the market situation. Hardly any of their industries were competitive with companies in the West which were much more productive. Furthermore, even in comparison among the former Eastern block certain countries like Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia were underdeveloped with hardly any industry. Those where agricultural countries and because of their geopgraphic situation people from other socialist countries spent their holidays there. As mean as it sounds, but even back then the aformentioned countries were considered developing countries (Romania was considered Third World) by countries like Hungary, Czechoslovakia and the GDR.

I agree totally

Unfortunately it's been the UK who has pushed the most towards the inclusion of those Eastern European countries because they wanted to make the Franco-German carrier of the whole EU project lose some of their centrality. Let's face it the EU was built around France and Germany, the two famed archi rivals in modern European history.

An unfortunate design from the get go. Now coming to hit back the UK as well, all done while the Chinese president was in a gilded cage with the Queen, more UK workers to be fired because of factories closing down and Cameron signing off a deal which will put a lot of the UK energetic infrastructure into Chinese hands.

Whether the UK remains in the EU or not there will be big changes both for UK residents and residents of other EU member countries, and not for the better. Anyway, I have a strong feeling the UK will stay in the EU. The City has too much to lose if the UK should leave the EU. And the UK economy depends on The City.

And I like how Austria has a little meeting with Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania but very conveniently leaves out Greece, the first port of contact for the refugees. I suppose those other countries are more easibly "manageable".

The EU is only "good at" making honest people pay for the thievery of the banking system and corrupted poltical elites.

Austria leaving out Greece was very telling. Surely Greece should've been the main focus of any meetings they're having about the migrants considering Greece is bearing a lot of the brunt of it.

The racism especially coming from former migrants is quite disgusting. I had to unfriend a Greek girl I went school with. Her parents only came to UK 18 months before she was born and her Facebook comments and posts were so nasty about the migrants.

I was also listening to a report on BBC4 about Israel dumping their migrants in Rwanda and Uganda. Hardly getting any press coverage at all.

Specifically, to your question: I doubt people like having their countries overrun by refugees/economic migrants regardless of the circumstances at hand.

I can see a possibility of a weakening of the Union to an extent - border-wise in the future. But, I, personally, never really liked the idea of a union, anyway - why bother? Countries could just as easily have preferential trade deals, free movement, etc. without resorting to some continent-wide quasi-federal uber state.

I don't understand why the lack of acceptance of migrants in middle eastern countries has been totally ignored/overlooked. I mean, there's some seriously wealthy countries there.

Politically incorrect answer: They don't suffer from white middle-class guilt.

FALSE

they produced articles for inner market and exported to the URSS.

They simply were too well qualified workers and had too good possibilities and had to be stopped.

Are you living in a parallel world? It's not East Europe who are closing borders. It's Northern and Center Europe.

There was a reunion and Junker just offered a solution to East countries: we want refugees to stay there in your countries, you poor neighbours. If you don't have money to give them shelter we offer LOW RATE LOANS.

The East countries walked out, of course. Loans????? Brussels offers MILLIONS to Turkey but loans to Bulgaria and the rest??

Now the plan will be to get Turkey in the EU so the problem is farther from the rich countries. At this rate they will expand the EU farther than Madagascar.

I swear many Eastern European countries are refusing to take the migrants. I know Macedonia straight up saying they refuse to take Afghanis at all. Most of the migrants that have arrived in Uk are not Syrian theyre Afghanis.

Agree 100% . But all you can hear from the press and the media in general is all the problems with immigrants but they never mention what you just said which it's basically the root of the problem. It's a shame really...

Surely if they're genuinely seeking refuge they'd stay wherever they're safe?

They are not only seeking refugee. Their country is destroyed. That simple. They can't go back.

There was a horrible video that is taken down from youtube, recorded from a drone. The whole country is destroyed.

http://boingboing.net/2016/02/03/a-drones-eye-view-of-syria.html

They are seeking a new life. And you don't look for a new life in countries with no social help, salaries lower han 200 euro... Those people have sold all their things to get money to pay mafias so they could get to Europe, and especially to countries where they know they can have help and they can work. If they simply wanted to get away from Syria until the war was over, they would have travelled to other places.

All the problems nowadays in boundaries like the Macedonia one is because controls are much harder (they have to check passport, etc), that means they can only interview like 600 per day. But the boundaries are open.

The only closed boundaries are in North Europe. For example in Sweden.

Indeed. It all started in the 90s in the Gulf, this new war in Syria is a result of those Gulf wars. And who knows what will happen in the future.

Trying to isolate Russia adds a lot of ingredients too. By blocking the gas tube through the Black Sea to Europe and trying to get gas from South Iran is the problem too. And Russia trying to mantain the energetic domein adds the rest.

I hate greed. It's the worst capital sin, because greed causes the rest of sins. Motly all the problems of the world nowadays are because of greed.

Weve got attacks on a few refugee centers here, one night there was a group of like 20 people with fucking fireworks and shovels and shit and they broke a few windows of rooms that even some refugee kids were sleeping in. My mom has been living here most of her life and the hardest worker i know, still facing racism. One day not long ago some family threw all her groceries on the ground when she was coming home and they made it very clear that what she did to deserve that is her being an "refugee" for the love of god i will kill them if i ever see them

I think this immigration problem could be the beginning of something truly devastating and horrendous for Europe and the rest of the world. I'm thinking of WW3. And once again it's all about greed and power.. All these politicians are only after their own agenda. Is it ever possible with all the resources and intelligence they have these days they couldn't a) predict this mass immigration and b) put some solutions in place.. Sometimes I even think it benefits them as that's how they might get the vote. The more problems a country has the more polarising its political parties will be in order to generate new ways to get people on their side. For example a political party like UKP in the UK would be a joke in pleasant times but because of the immigration problem they seem to have a lot of supporters. I pray everyday for all these immigrants.. It's heartbreaking to know people can't empathise with their struggle.

Meak maker I agree. However the media like to talk up people like UKIP. If you look at the last general election UKIP were thrashed, even Nigel Farage lost his seat. So it shows that it's all noise and no action.

The sad thing is that Europe needs young people and good families. Countries like Bulgaria (excuse me for talking so much about Bulgaria hahahah) are facing a severe demographic problem, because 2 whole generations are gone since the mid 00 to work outside. Almost 30% of population. That means that there's no young people to support the elderly.

If this immigration had been different, it could have meant good news. In Spain, for example, we recieved more than 6 millions immigrants in a decade, and that meant a economic boom and fast development (those people work, spend, buy houses...), but sadly this recent crisis has meant that many of them are gone again, so we are left with less children and less possibilities.

But it's so difficult to absorb several million inmigrants in just some months! But If only we could really help this people, if there was a way to help them, it would be so great. Because most of them are good families, bright children, good husbands and wives, just like people around us. And only want an opportunity, want to start a new life.

Of course i may not have explained myself proplerly: many refugees would stay wherever, because they look for a safe place. So they will stay long in any country, as long as it's safe.

It's the big mass of people what is moving to the richer places.

And i want to clarify too, that many East countries are behaving like CUNTS and being very vile and racist. Not only central and north countries. In fact, in countries like Germany, which are bearing so much pressure these past weeks, even months, they are doing a great effort to help them.
