albertogerard
It is funny how many people now prefer BGO as the second single when they were sooo in love with GI2M up until a couple of weeks ago I ALWAYS loved Give It 2 Me. Did I think it should be released as a single? No. I checked in daily with Mediabase, it was obvious radio wanted to play BGO. As a Madonna fan, I will support her any way I can. I bought the mixes to GI2M and pre-ordered the maxi single. Do I think this is what Madonna SHOULD have done? NO. You wanna talk dramatic? The low sales for Hard Candy. fak
A tour can help album sales - it generates media interest. COADF maintained chart positions between 80-110 when the tour was goin on i the USA - when the tour stopped - it fell off quickly. In the UK TCT helped the COADF back into the top30. A lot of people attend tours even though they dont buy cd's. Some people just love going to concerts. Although if an artist is nt exposing their work to the mainstream, they will seea dwindling tourbase. A tour is definitely not promotion for the album. People who pay that much to see her will most likely already have the album. A tour won't reach out to more fans... I just don't understand why you'd spend time and effort creating a record you like, and then you can't be arsed to promote it.
mtzlplk
As a result, Give it 2 me will be a much worse flop than Sorry, Get Together and Jump. yeah it's really tragic... I am now officially rooting for TBGO as 3rd single... just to even test radio if they will play it coz of kanye...
fak
madonna only needs to do a few radio interviews and an couple opf tv shows - if she did just 1 tv show it would surely help download sales to increase and allow the single in to the top 100with ease right? theonly thing i see madonna doing for hard cnady is a grammy performace lol..... Guest ercos
Beat Goes On should have been the second single. _______________ ++++++++++++1 after the leak and hearing GI2M, i wondered why WB chose it as the second single... it totally ruined the momentum for 4M...well, too late... Etips
In the last five to ten years, I've noticed that whenever Madonna's hardest core fans collectively like a certain song(s) of hers, it winds up underperforming commercially…but when they collectively dislike a certain song, general audiences tend to embrace it more, or it seems like it could be a hit. I don't know where that disconnect started, or what motivates it. Kind of makes me curious to see how well "Candy Shop" would perform if it is released as a single. Supernatural
If they manage to get the tour aired on TV properly this time (live, promoted, and not during a holiday period- hopefully HBO because they know what they're doing) that could be a decent boost. Guest americana madonna
i know madonna is working hard at putting together an awesome tour. i know the songs on hard candy are all hit songs that should be played on radio with no questions asked. but madonna and warner bros. have been a big dissappointment in promoting hard candy. if madonna no longer cares if a song charts on the billboard hot 100, maybe she should quit making new music. Well, that's their business -- record labels pay them money to track this for them, and if it's all available free, why would the record companies pay? I've kind of suspected the unrestricted access has been an oversight for years...

Nightshade
after the leak and hearing GI2M, i wondered why WB chose it as the second single... it totally ruined the momentum for 4M...well, too late... Madonna chose it. Remember, she wanted to name the album after it. She obviously thought it was a stellar track, which it is not (IMO). If Warner had to pick, I bet they would've chosen "Beat Goes On" or maybe "Miles Away" or "Dance 2Night."

She let Warner go with "4 Minutes" instead of "Candy Shop" so they probably allowed her to go with "Give It 2 Me". I think outside the US, these are great choices for first and second single.
