So, I was watching this youtube interview of Laura Jane Grace (formerly Tom Gabel), the singer of Against Me! and Madonna is mentioned at 4.18.

I thought we could have a thread and a place to post nice things people have said about Madonna that you weren't expecting :) I love that she inspires so many people!

"I'm kind of interested in this Madonna record," he says at one point. "She looks hotter than ever. I'd also like to let it be known that I still have a crush on Madonna and I would definitely fornicate with her."

Not sure if this counts, but saw the "Living for Love" video being played at my local Dave & Busters yesterday afternoon. :)

I went to the store my friend manages at the mall yesterday and Vogue was playing and I mentioned Rihanna once sang it. Beyonce then came up and she mentioned how both of them were getting closer to Madonna and Janets' status in the music industry.

Reminded me of this funny parody:

basically if you are not a native speaker of English and you learn the language in your country, you always end up having a pic of Madonna in the grammar book with some random text i.e. "She is Madonna. She is a singer."

Usually it's a pic from the Virgin era

I was reading an article about art curator Diego Cortez and he mentioned her. I shouldn't be surprised he mentioned Madonna since he was part of the NYC new wave/art scene but I didn't know she went to him to be her manager in her early years. Here's the excerpt:

MATEUS LAGES: I read that you turned down an offer to manage Madonna

DIEGO CORTEZ: Yes. I had worked as a manager for some punk bands, also as an agent to Jean-Michel Basquiat. In 1982 he brought his then-girlfriend, Madonna, to my tiny apartment at Henry Geldzahlers building in the West Village. Jean said I want you to make Madonna as famous as you made me. I was amused and skeptical. She played her demo cassette of 3 tracks, Holiday, Like a Virgin and one other, all good. I asked if she had a band and planned to tour. She said No, I want to travel the country playing at gay discos lip-synching to my songs. I said, So what do you want me to do, push the button on the cassette player? It didnt work out. I told her I wanted to curate art shows and not work in the music scene anymore.
