I like to singy singy singy

like a bird on a wingy wingy wingy

Genius. Anyone who doesn't giggle at that just doesn't get it.

And this thread wouldn't be complete without a mention of "Push." The only excuse I can think of for that travesty is that she and Gwyneth were pitching ideas for a series of coffee mugs with motivational sayings to be sold on GOOP for Valentine's Day. Either that or she was possessed by Tony Robbins, briefly. Just fucking awful.

I'll concede that the lyrics are cheesy and ridiculous, but the beats and production are irresistible.

Push is amazing.

I guess I judge lyrics differently. A lot of people detest WIFLFAG, but I find the lyrics very evocative and touching. I really like the line "hands that rest on jutting hips, repenting."<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Madge didn't write Nothing Fails, Jem did. Except I think Madge added the bit about the tree of life, which IS shit.

I LOVE the lyrics to WIFLFAG. I don't want to MEET anyone who doesn't, that is an amazing song. 'Hurt that's not supposed to show and tears that fall when no-one knows, when you're trying hard to be your best, could you be a little less?' <img src="http://forums.madonnanation.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

The lyrics have been getting steadily worse. The whole of Candy shop -what a tired tawdry bunch of overused shitty cliches. 'See my booty get down' is just bizarre, just on a purely feminine level of showing off your best asset. Madonna has the arse of a Nigerian long distance runner. It's likely to inspire admiration but hardly lust. Surely if she wants to shove her sexual attributes in people's faces she'd give a shout out to her brilliant buoyant rack. As it is you just think -what booty? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" />

I love Love Profusion though, ESPECIALLY the bad mood bit. It's cute.

When I first read the song lyrics for MUSIC before the song came out, I remember cringing. I thought they really lacked. But, then when I heard the song, they fit it. To this day, Music is in my Top 3 Madonna songs. So, I never count anything out if the lyrics are bad. I always thought some of the lines for Paradise ("the light above my head") were lacking too.

"She's Not Me" always drives me insane. I still find it unlistenable.

She started dyeing her hair and

Wearing the same perfume as me

She started reading my books

And stealing my looks and lingerie

I played "She's Not Me" in the car

And a Friend Pointed that part out to me. "That Doesnt Rhyme...At All."

"I know the road gets lonely, but that's Satan's game" and "I've got to save my baby because he makes me cry" from the (appalling IMO)Intervention.

And X-Static Process, probably all of it.

I've never found that part of ILNY as offensive as it's made out, but the chorus is just BAD

Other cities always make me mad

Other places always make me sad

No other city ever made me glad

except New York

I love New York (X3)

Talk about an uninspired 'mad-sad-glad' rhyme scheme :|

:grr:

I believe it's 'I know the road LOOKS lonely, but that's JUST satan's game', and I don't see what's so bad about it. In the song, Satan (representing the forces of negativity, of fear, hatred, whatever) tries to make us deviate from the right path by emphasising the hardship involved. It's pretty well out of 'A Pilgrim's Progress' and I don't think it's a bad lyric. Although that song does have some bad lyrics. Over all it's LOVELY though.

Ha ha. I am warming to Intervention very slowly. But I think it's lyrics suck.

People don't seem to sit on the fence when it comes to Intervention - they either adore it or hate it!

One that plucks my nerves the most is "I like to singy singy singy...Like a bird on a wingy wingy wingy", from Impressive Instant.

It's like Uggg....we needed an additonal writer on this tune.
