Brisy_Boy
How do remix EPs work in the UK? Do they count toward the singles chart or albums? Not singles, I guess they still have that 4 track/20 minutes stupied rule. Not sure if it is album charts or mid-price charts (or whatever they call that). Guest Danny86
Taio Cruz is #1 so unless he stars to fall rapidly in the next two days, it's out of the question for Madonna this week. Just making sure there won't be any meltdowns next Sunday, that's all.

Guest Danny86
I wonder if it would have did better had they not repressed it. Most likely not. It worked for "4 Minutes" but that had better airplay initially if I remember well, competition was a lot smaller and the video propelled it to #1 because that was buzz. A song like "Celebration" would need a live performance or some kinda Madonna event for #1.

Just making sure there won't be any meltdowns next Sunday, that's all. Taio Cruz is doing well considering his airplay is low. They are pushing the song on the music channels tho, there is ad it for every 5 minutes!

air1975
Taio Cruz is #1 so unless he stars to fall rapidly in the next two days, it's out of the question for Madonna this week. Just making sure there won't be any meltdowns next Sunday, that's all. Could Madonna catch up though, given that: 1. Celebration is charting not only at #13 but also at #70, 113 etc etc 2. Celebration physical single sales would be added to the digital (on the same token, does Taio Cruz have a physical single?)

Celebration physical single sales would be added to the digital (on the same token, does Taio Cruz have a physical single?) 1. I don't think with even those separate entries added together she could reach a song that got to #1 on iTunes on the day of its release. If the main version of "Celebration" shoots up to #2 in in the next 24 hours then those other formats could make the difference. 2. Both Madonna and Taio Cruz have a physical out now, and while Madonna is going to top the physical singles chart no matter what, these sales don't matter much when reportedly most stores don't even stock physical singles anymore. On Haven I read that 98% of the singles sales is digital in the UK now (whereas for albums it's still just 10%!)...

aeroco
Oh this lack of popularity bars on the new itunes is so irritating! Taio could be miles ahead. Celebration seems to be stalling already, though lots of versions and the physical sales will ensure at least top 5. Looks like making the UK wait for weeks for the digital version has not guaranteed the top spot.

Guest Danny86
it's up to 11 now..but down to 6 on the albums. any one know how many copies a top 5 album/ep sells in a week on itunes? The #1 on the album chart sold 32,000 last week, not sure if it had an iTunes release or not, but I'd say even the #1 album on iTunes that stays there for a week most likely does not reach the 10,000 level either. The "Celebration" EP will most likely keep falling so it won't give much to the single total. Shakira has been in the top 3 for a long time by now so it won't even be the 13th #2 for Madonna this week...

markm
It seems like Celebration is stalling, #11 on itunes and its fallen out of the top 10 albums. Hardly surprising, they leaked the song too early, botched the release dates and we have had zero promotion. Add all that to a cheap uninspiring video and Celebration was never going to top the charts. She'll be lucky to crack the top 5. It appears her Queen of Pop crown is slipping. Mightycomfort
Yes I think the release has been handled badly in the uk. Stupid making us wait for it. BUT on this song people say she's no longer the Queen! How stupid!!! Does her career depend on single chart positions? No She's the queen because of her long career! If she never had another hit she'd still be the queen forever! Let's see how well the album does here in the uk. I still think that's where the big sales will come! Still think a million for Xmas here in the uk ! As for people saying gaga is the new queen. Well I like her stuff and she's breaking download records.... Let's see how she's doing in 25 years
