fak
Good to see GA miss the top 10. I cant believe such a mundane group have had so much success. Well success is not the right word - they had had 2 good periods 2002/3 and 2008/9. I doubt they will top this or come close to this level of success again. They released a strong first single and it worked well for them. Untouchable is not a MA, its a TAB. TAB was M's first UK hit to miss the top 10. Beyonce is one of the few artists whose current album sales match her previous ones. I think her debut sold 4 mill in the USA, Bday 3 Mill, sasha Fierice will do 3 Mill there. Sasha Fierece has out done Bday Iin the UK I believe. She will release more songs I guess and her album will benefit if still on the chart for XMAS and if she gets a Brit award too. She will prob get plenty of Grammy nods. U2 will probably outsell HC - they will a few more singles, and if they release a good single around XMAS then they will get the boost in that period and a possible Brit boost, although a very slight one. Its not done too bad considering the song missed top 10, or am I imagining that? They willbe lucky to hit 500,000 though, F U C K ME is nt setting the charts a light and it may even miss the top 15 at this rate. I dont think the UK is that bothered with her run-of-the-mill dance tunes. Wheres the album? has it only just gone 300,000? Britney will need to release Blur or another slow jam to resurrect some interest in the album. Hard to believe thet crap PCD song is airplay no1 . Wheres there album? Guest Johnkm
F U C K ME is nt setting the charts a light and it may even miss the top 15 at this rate. I dont think the UK is that bothered with her run-of-the-mill dance tunes Circus barely made the top 15, so its unlikely If You See(k) Amy will do any better. Untouchable is not a MA, its a TAB Untouchable is a very good song, it just was the toally wrong choice for a single, it was chosen by a fan poll, which was a bad sign from the beginning. There are many far more Girls Aloud singles on the album.
fak
i thought circus was in the top 15 for 3 weeks and in the top 20 for at least 5-6 weeks? its astonishing though that the one song which has created a buzz for Britney worldwide may not got 10 in the UK. FU CK ME could by a flike peak higher than Circus but it would kack the longevity and possible overall sales Circus had. Circus barely made the top 15, so its unlikely If You See(k) Amy will do any better. Guest Johnkm
^ Hmm yeah Circus was in the top 20 for about that many weeks. I just cant see If U See Amy doing as well, apart from the obvious F U C K ME thing, it has little going for it, apart from her trademark ''baybum'' returning sadly. Guest Danny86
U2 will probably outsell HC - they will a few more singles, and if they release a good single around XMAS then they will get the boost in that period and a possible Brit boost, although a very slight one. Its not done too bad considering the song missed top 10, or am I imagining that? They willbe lucky to hit 500,000 though, By Xmas nobody will remember this U2 album. Their tour will be long gone from the UK as well. The single is top 10 in airplay but on iTunes it didn't even crack the top 100 as of yesterday, so I can't see any single rescuing this album. Of course it's gonna outsell HC, they are like 50,000 apart, but while Madonna got a big selling #1 single, U2's first single was kinda a flop and Coldplay totally eclipsed them by now... funkydita
Midweeks Singles Top 10 is almost identical. Top 3 remain the same as do 8,9 and 10. 4,5,6 and 7 have shuffled about a bit. P!nk holds at 12 (her album is at 5). Albums Yusuf and Maccabees are the only new entries in the top 10 at 7 and 10 respectively.

fak
how can Pink with a single peaking at no12? no12 is a hit unless you debut at no12 and then drop off completely. britney down a place? her first top 20 miss possibly? james masterson who does the chart commentary on yahoo music predicted not so good things for britney when circus, the 2nd single and title track failed to go top 10. aeroco
Pink isn't flopping, the download is picking up nice consistent sales and her album is doing great. Without meaning to repeat the same old stuff, downloads have changed the singles chart so that it is harder for any act to keep having high charting hits with subsequent singles off an album. However, it does mean that overall sales are way higher and are getting even higher as downloads become ever more popular. So a number 12 peak could still mean impressive sales, unlike even two years ago.
Guest Johnkm
^ Exactly, #12 for a 3rd single is very good, considering many 3rd singles dont even go top 20 (Katy Perry: Thinking Of You, Kings Of Leon: Revelry, Britney: If U Seek Amy etc...). So 12 is very good with respect to the current chart 'climate'.
Guest Danny86
I definitely agree that several of these "broke the string of top 10s/20s hits" singles are still bigger than several of Madonna's singles that debuted in the top 10 but dropped out swiftly. For a long time the focus was too much on the chart position, but now it can be the sales again.
Guest Johnkm
Sales should matter more than chart place, someone saying Hollywood was more successful than say Give It 2 Me, as it charted higher is silly, as its sales were less than a third, sales are the important thing. funkydita
Nothing much of interest in today's update. In singles U2 limp into 40 and Maximo Park have a disasterous new entry at 46 (including physicals). In albums Yusuf are up one place to 9 and Ciara is now at 10.
Guest Danny86
Is U2 in the top 40 based on 7" sales? How's that possible? On iTunes none of the versions are in the top 100.

Yes, the frission of excitement generated by Hollywood entering at number 2 is lost when we remember it was number 15 in week two. Hardly a popular hit. Still a high chart position is always welcome. Yes, we know you think like that, you let everyone knew that the world as we know it stopped when "Miles Away" missed the top 10. "Bedtime Story" dropped out of the top 10 in its 3rd week, because of the Brits performance, so that doesn't count. The others you listed were smaller drops than "Hollywood2.
