Queen Bitch
Pop Art has been advertised on TV quite a lot this week and one of the music channels was running a PSBs top 40 over the weekend. It was retailing at £5 a few weeks back but the retailers doubled the price on the back of the Brits - can't believe it's such a low selling album.
Guest AntiVirgin
They've sadly never been big sellers. In UK their highest sales for an individual album was around 900K for 1987's Actually, even Very only managed around 500-600K. Introspective, Actually and Very have sold approx 4-5M worldwide, Discography (their 1st GH package) about 3M worldwide. Its been downward since Bilingual though. All albums post Bilingual (incl PopArt) have done about a million worldwide...so they do have a core and very loyal fanbase. I wonder if they should have preponed the release of YES by a week or two, but then their oldies are selling a bit again and they can start promoting the new stuff soon enuf. Queen Bitch
Bilingual was the last album I bought of theirs - I picked up the Pop Art DVD in the sales a few month back - it's excellent.

promise to try
PSB´s album number 13??? good for them anyway, i was a little bit upset with this album, I wa expecting a Discograohy II, the second part of their greatest hits, and not a complete GH, it´s not fair with their 1993-2003 singles

Guest Danny86
Are U2 flopping or is the physical not out yet? Physical & Digital were released at the same time, on February 16th. Physicals are so irrelevant these days that they don't even help out established acts anymore: U2 was #1 on physicals last week with 4000 copies, on the download charts they were #15, combined sales only put them to #12. By the way, the top 4 is all downloads this week.
Ciccone's Cheeks
WTG Kelly!!! Poor, poor distressed Alexzit and Gimmesomeblow - their Hillbilly babydoll just can't seem to generate much interest, or chart for squat in a huge market like the UK

fak
thanks promise to try! your a star! GITM was nt hurt - it was a top 10 hit. MA did crap because of the lack of overall interest. MM - circus is hardly a flop. im not surprised its not peaked any higher - britney is repeating the same formula since 2001. in the USA it might sound fresh and new but not here. is there another remix os show me love by robyn s? Guest Danny86
Of course it's gonna hurt Madonna, if the first single is not commercial enough, fans won't be able to put her top top 10 (let alone #1!) by themselves. Fanbases are no longer controlling the UK chart which proves that "4 Minutes" & "Give It 2 Me" did very well in the UK.

funkydita
After two TV appearances over the weekend - he really is OVER Interestingly if it was down to physicals he'd be at number 2, behind Saturdays. I love the fact that U2 / Oasis etc. are faring badly in the digital single environment; bar the Miles Away debacle at least M has stayed reasonably strong in the new market. Where does one even buy a CD single these days? I still blame Woolies for the death of the single and in turn blame the death of the single on the death of Woolies. Queen Bitch
Agreed but I'm all for physicals losing their impact so that the chart comprises genuine hits, not fan base only hits. Surely it's time that they scrap physicals altogether, I'd actually feel embarrassed buying one to be honest.
Queen Bitch
U2 to 'equal Madonna, Stones record' Tuesday, March 3 2009, 16:44 GMT By David Balls, Entertainment Reporter U2 are expected to match Madonna and The Rolling Stones in scoring their tenth UK number one album on Sunday. The band's latest release No Line On The Horizon is on course to top the charts, according to latest figures from the Official Charts Company. The Irish group's new LP has already achieved sales of more than four times its nearest rival and could become one of the year's fastest-selling albums. The Beatles managed the most UK number one albums at 15, while Elvis Presley has achieved 11. U2 first went to number one with War in 1983. Their only studio albums to miss out on the top spot are Boy, October and Achtung Baby.
