I guess it's because Shake it off and Don't forget about us are still being played on pop and rhythmic channels. In a couple of years when the songs are gonna be very old for top40 channels and since they do not have big support on AC and Hot AC channels, I believe that they're gonna fall lower than Music and Don't Tell me. The same with Touch My Body.

Wow, We Belong Together so close to 1.000.000 spins. I just cannot understand how she reached 220m in just one week. Please, Holidayguy, can you explain how she did that? I mean, I'm trying to count the max she can get from each format, but still 220+ seems too much. Just give us some estimates for each format.

Let's say, 70m from pop, 50-60 from Rhytmic, 30-40 from Urban, 20 from Urban AC, 20 from Hot AC, 20 from AC. That's the only way we can reach 220. And I don't even remember if it was 220. Was it 230? Anyway, if that's the max a song can get on each format nowadays, how did she do it? I mean, she couldn't have topped all the formats the same week and, apart from that, I've heard that she didn't top the AC and Hot ac formats, right? I'm not sure, but back in 2005, it seems like the AI #s were much larger and then they took a big hit and dropped. WHy did that happen?

does Mediabase count the replays of old Casey's Top 40 shows as its a syndicated package that airs in 20 or 30 markets (you can hear it online since most of the stations stream it)? Every weekend they count down a different top 40 from the 80's (the original show) and this week they're counting down this week in 1985, so if "Angel" suddenly sees a surprise spike next week, that is why.

I dunno if Mediabase tracks those stations. What I've concluded is that when you look at the Quickcut page for tracks, the to-date spins takes into account every format, not just those listed on that page.

I noted that airplay on dance stations (since 2004) has helped M's tracks- why HU, for instance, has more spins than BStranger. And why "Sorry" has more than WIFLFAG.

Jason- WBT had strong airplay at all the formats you listed- its peak was around 221m on BDS. Audience impressions are based on Arbitron ratings, so if ratings should go down, the audience numbers will as well. "Irreplaceable" has the second-highest, I believe (around 196m)- that's after WBT's three or four weeks of airplay that topped that total.

WBT did peak in the expanded Hot 100 Airplay era, but it's likely that no pre-December 1998 track would have approached 221m; I htink it was reported that "My Heart Will Go On" had the highest weekly total from 1991-1998 (116m-120m, I think). Since that had vitually no play at urban it definitely wouldn't have had much higher numbers with the addition of all the other formats. Some tracks that did fare well at urban would have received a nice boost, bust, still, probably not enough to challenge 221m. Then again, back then, BDS wasn't monitoring all the top 40 stations it came to monitor past 1998 (they were eased in, and prior had made up the small-market airplay points that remained part of the Hot 100 mix; so, in that case, the audience numbers for those stations wouldn't have been huge, anyhow).
