The song has gained considerable strength all things considered. It must be part of the plan, even if the song streamed 50 million on the first day I don't think they'd be an instruction to radio to play it. Generally speaking online impact has never been Madonnas strong point but this is exactly where her new PR team have started. Maluma has a significant streaming profile and I do believe that attachment has helped her gain the strength she has in the last week with zero promotion and no video.
I do believe they will officially serve the song to radio, it wouldn't make sense if not. But streaming drives the radio these days which means the top streamed songs always get decent airplay.....they obviously have their eyes on the song becoming a top streaming track I think with an epic video, the performance with Maluma at BB and then some additional promo will give it that boost. Perhaps the plan is to serve to radio with/soon after the video tomorrow as the song will be entering the radio space already with some success online.
As I've said before if you look at today's top ten most streamed videos/songs the one thing they all have in common is they are getting played on the radio significantly. Radio reflects the online successes so If Medellin can achieve that online success radio will be driven to play it. This will have significant influence on key radio stations a lot more than Ms army e-mailing them citing agism.
I agree with what you have said some radio stations have played it already without an official serving but being officially served by record companies does still happen it's still a thing so I am hopeful they will send it and have some sort of plan in mind but `Madonna doesn't have the advantage where radio is concerned, but here she may have an advantage online and that's what they are focusing upon.
About radio play, we need to be patient.... I think M and the team have a guerrilla warfare strategy (hit-and-run tactics). So streaming and video release are fist. Push those to the max, get these numbers up as much as possible just like any new artist's song would be promoted (she's been gone for too long). Noticed the viewer mining strategy with the Medellin audio, they pushed it wide to find new listeners, which of course also finds haters - thus the 24% dislikes, but also built a base for the song, which will continue to grow (and help with the video release likes). In some Latin countries the song was already pushed to radio. Next, probably this weekend the remixes will come out and a radio edit version (shorter version). Then her team can make the case by market to radio stations that Medellin has legs and is in demand by sharing the streaming and YouTube numbers (so, keep streaming and watch the video on repeat - and like comments!!!). It will be pushed to radio stations in some new markets starting next week. Next, Madonna starts making impactful appearances every ware for weeks starting with Billboards Music...

To be ready to help, please draft up one or two cool/catchy comments yourself and have them handy to post on Wednesday. Comments that you think could get a lot of Likes
. I suggest using emoji’s so Spanish only speaking people can like them as well.
Keep in mind that the audio got more than 2.5 million views the first day and more than 7,000 comments. The video potential can get several times as many views in the same time period, so your first comment will get buried in the thousands of comments posted per hour in less than 2, 3 hours. As a result, please post a new one every ~ 3 hours the first day. You never know which one will takeoff… J And, please keep liking

Medellin is an excellent song. It’s warm, carefree, dreamy, everything you want in a
summer song! And it’s what people have been clamoring from Madonna for years now.
It sounds like a summer jam and very radio friendly actually… it does have a catchy twang.
Certainly a grower! It is indeed her best lead single since "Hung Up"
I’m obsessed with the relaxed groove.
I absolutely adore it! Love her voice, the sultry vibe, the lyrics, the beat and Maluma too.

The first thing that stood out for me were her smooth vocals. I had very low expectations for a Maluma collab, but I like the song very much. It's rather enchanting, very sweet, and actually the most emotionally compelling first single Madonna released in many years!!! Very delicate production is also a standout for me. It's a very welcoming tone. Bravo Madonna!

M is not Ari, Adele or Beyoncé (I love all three) always sounding the same... she is a chameleon/always changing sounds/music styles, so a new audience needs to be found for every era. Get it. A collaboration with Maluma was never going to be the Like a Prayer / Vogue / Hung Up kind of excellent. The whole purpose of it is an attempt at getting a hit lead single for the album.
Turns out we got a beautiful, melodic, chill song that will likely be the first single since 4 Minutes that will really stand out and have its own identity from her 2010s releases.
I also think a lot of people are paying too much attention to the reggaeton vibe and that it has Maluma on it. The lyrics are impeccable and could easily be on Ray of Light, whilst having classic Madonna hooks/moments (1, 2 cha cha cha / Slow down papi)
I think the rest of the album will be significantly better than this but I LOVE Medellín for what it is! (Remember it wasn't even in the first 5 tracks of the original tracklisting, where the biggest impact songs usually are)
I like your review! For me, I was in in the first 30 seconds and 3 minutes in I was of my chair... It has everything. I think I listened to it 500 times and can't wait to hear it again... it creates that amazing longing feeling that great Madonna songs do (my heart is caught in the song), and than that infections bit!!!
It's like no other song out there… the infusion of different sound genres is so fresh and new! Yet sounds familiar to Latinos and us.
I created a Spotify playlist with my favorites right now: Ari songs from her last album, Sunflower/Sway Lee, Borderline/Tame Impala, and Bury a Friend/Billie Eilish… it fits perfectly!!! I played it in the car today. Plus my 14 years old nephew and his friends loved the song. What I think I am saying is, there is a big new audience (non M fans) for this son. It has a better chance to last on Spotify and other charts than BIM.

If you have not liked the song version on YouTube yet, please do! Also, as you listen on YouTube like comments please!!! let's keep the cool comments at the top. I see Maluma's team doing a great job encouraging his followers to make comments in Spanish and like comments. Don't see that much structured activity on M's side. We need to help!!
BTW, ~ 200,000 new people are listening on YouTube to the audio version every 3 hours, so feel free to leave new comments… old ones get buried quickly... you need to constantly like new ones to keep positive ones on top. I know you all notice this, but just mentioning it for anyone not familiar.
