These two convention have been totally night and day. One was nothing but an old angry white mob there to talk about impending Armageddon and how shit our country is, and yelling to lock political opponents up, to a Convention of joy, and real heart felt sorrowful moments, and happiness, and hope, and inclusion and actual love of country filled with people from all walks of life filled with EPIC speeches from unknown people to huge names. The choice is so crystal clear to me even though we all know Hillary doesn't walk on water, but damn. Like ULIZOS said, if we are dumb enough to elect Trump, we deserve what we get. Ai Papi Si.
I'm sorry, the GOP convention was kind of a bust in 2012, but holy fucking wow was it a catastrophe this year compared to the dems. I can't harp on this enough The democrats began their convention in a bit of chaos, only to turn it 180 degrees to the highest highs of any convention I've ever seen. Just incredible. Guest Mauro
Gotta love evangelicals like Pence. Roe vs. Wade will be overturned if Donald Trump wins, Mike Pence says Michigan GOPVerified account@MIGOP Gov. @Mike_Pence is now speaking in Grand Rapids and headed to Novi later today. #MichiganMatters2016 GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence on Thursday predicted Roe vs. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion, would be overturned if Donald Trump is elected president. “I’m pro-life and I don’t apologize for it,” he said during a town hall meeting here. “We’ll see Roe vs. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs.” The comments — made in a conservative stronghold that strongly supported Texas Sen. Ted Cruz over Trump in the Michigan primary — were part of a broader argument Pence has been making on the stakes of the election: Voters need to consider that the next president will likely select multiple Supreme Court justices. Pence said Trump would appoint strict constitutionalists in the mold of the late Justice Antonin Scalia. “While we’re choosing a president for the next four years, this next president will make decisions that will impact our Supreme Court for the next 40,” he said. “… Go tell your neighbors and your friends, for the sake of the rule of law, for the sake of sanctity of life, for the sake of our 2nd Amendment, for the sake of all our other God-given liberties, we must insure the next president appointing justices to the Supreme Court is Donald Trump.” http://www.latimes.com/nation/politics/trailguide/la-na-democratic-convention-2016-live-pence-says-roe-v-wade-will-be-1469737388-htmlstory.html

Guest Mauro
Trump says he would like to 'hit' DNC speakers who disparaged him Davenport, Iowa (CNN) Donald Trump, after hearing speeches at the Democratic convention this week, said Thursday he wanted to "hit a number of those speakers so hard, their heads would spin." "They'd never recover," he said. Trump often uses the term "hit" to mean verbally attack, rather than physical contact. The Republican nominee zoomed in on one speaker especially, though he didn't mention his name. "I was going to hit one guy in particular, a very little guy," Trump said to laughs at a campaign rally in Davenport, Iowa. "I was going to hit this guy so hard his head would spin, he wouldn't know what the hell happened." Trump said this individual "came out of nowhere" and had done work with Trump in the past. "He made deals with me. 'Will you help me with this? Would you make this deal and solve the problem?' I solved the problem," Trump said. His campaign did not respond to a request asking to clarify who Trump was talking about. Several speakers this week have gone after Trump in Philadelphia, including Michael Bloomberg. The former New York City mayor made a surprise endorsement over the weekend for Hillary Clinton, and described Trump in his DNC speech Wednesday night as a "dangerous demagogue." Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine also targeted Trump, mocking the businessman's tendency to accentuate his promises with a plea of "believe me." "He said a lot of things about me, I never met the guy," Trump said. "I mean the things that were said about me. I mean, should I go through some of the names?" Trump recalled telling a friend this week that he wanted to retaliate against the people who slammed him at the convention, mentioning current New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio by name. "I was going to say that de Blasio is the worst mayor in the history of the city, but I didn't say it," Trump said to laughs. "He's a terrible mayor. I was going to say that, but now I won't say it." Trump said his friend, who he labeled a "very great governor," urged him to stay focused on attacking Clinton, not other Democrats. "He said, 'Don't hit there. Don't hit down. You have one person to beat. It's Hillary Rodham Clinton,'" Trump recalled, adding that he initially objected to the advice. "I said, 'But I really want to. I don't like what they're saying because a lot of it is lies. Not all of it but a lot of it is.' I said, 'I just really ... it makes me feel good.' " Ultimately, he said, he conceded and decided not to launch into verbal assaults against the Democrats. "But every once in a while I still wake up, I say 'boy, I wanna,'" Trump said, growling as he stopped himself from saying more. "Someday!" http://edition.cnn.com/2016/07/28/politics/donald-trump-dnc-response/

Nightshade
I suspect Hillary will get a bigger bounce in the polls than CinnamonHitler got from the GOP convention. Personally, I don't think she is very effective at giving loud, arena-style speeches, but as it has been said here already, she does nail specifics. She's not a show pony, she's a work horse and I suspect she'll govern as such. I know this thread is pretty much off the rails when it comes to serious policy discussion, but what do you think Hillary should focus on in her first term? Here are mine (and I am being realistic as possible): Scalia's Supreme Court Replacement (assuming the GOP doesn't confirm Garland before Obama leaves). I'd be fine if she kept pushing Garland but I'd like her to make her own choice like a younger, more liberal justice. Immigration Reform - the GOP (if it takes a whooping) may actually help pass this TPP - revise to include more protections for the American worker and then pass it Infrastructure bill

Other than that I agree with this list.

BrendanT1993
This speech might be the most powerful thing I've watched the entire convention. I watched it with my parents and we were all crying by the end. That was one hell of a speech on Hillary's part. I gotta tell you if everything she said on Trump is true, then there's no way in hell that man should be fit for being president. That part where she mentioned his unpaid debts was also where he filed bankruptcy all those years back and even when he had to liquidate the airline he owned.
