magom
One Mexican Group named "Platilina Mosh", the song: "Te lo juro por Madonna" (I swear of Madonna) And the Puerto Rico group "Calle 13" the song "Electromovimiento" they sing the line "Let's go back to the eighties when Madonna was Virgin". and there's actually a brief funny character of hers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hTOgV8CIyA
Guest ursaminorjim
"Madonna" - Sparks, Interior Design (also available in French, German, and Spanish versions) ...Well, she took me back to her penthouse And showed me all of her platinum records And of course there were a lot Then we sat on the sofa And she turned on a classical station But the reception was poor And we sat there and talked And talked a little more And one things led to another As they often do in these situations All the stars are shining tonight for me All the stars are shining tonight glory be In the morning She fixed me a continental breakfast And then she said, "Well, good-bye." And I said, "Can I see you again?" And she said, "No." And I said, "Well, goodbye." And I never told anyone about this 'Cause after all It's none of their business what she or I did On their follow-up album, Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins, there's a sequel - "I thought I told you to wait in the car" (which is a far better song and roughly five times as hilarious). ...Walking in on an afternoon tryst Can be a source of embarrassment Embarrassment for all concerned Don't tell me, don't tell me In my wildest dreams I never thought of Warren Beatty as a rival... "DJ culture" - Pet Shop Boys, Discography ...Like Liz before Betty Ahe after Sean Suddenly you're missing Then you're reborn...

peter
^ To that point, U2's song "Miami" (off the Pop album) mentions "Madonna," but it was ambiguous to me which one Bono meant. Lyrics are something along the lines of "I said you look like a Madonna..." I thought it was interesting the reference was in this song, because it tried to pun off of the city name at the end with "My Mammy" ("You know some places are like your auntie, but there's no place like ... MIAMI! My mammy!") -- and Madonna's always been concerned with motherhood, maternity, mother roles thematically in her music (and the idea of "home" as well, which he's getting at a bit there, too). I like the song... too bad the album is so reviled by U2 fans.

Guest
Mentioning Mary, the Madonna is not the same as mentioning Madonna, Madonna. My lady famed warrior fair of face. Madonna, Louise, Veronica.

No, Louis it's not about OUR Madonna. This song talks about the dichotomy between Madonna (the virgin) and the whore.
