Platinum Gold Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 is the intro of this the Holiday sample you guys are referring to during Nas's rap??
rebelvvv Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 is the intro of this the Holiday sample you guys are referring to during Nas's rap?? Yes, until 0:07. It's literally repeated through much of the song.
loowee Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I think the standard edition deserved a different tracklist. They literally just cut it off after WAOM. Why? Are the tracks after that inferior? It makes no sense. I guess M listed the songs from favorite to least favorite. WAOM is a very good album closer though so I don't think they randomly just cut off the last 5 tracks. The ending with Holy Water-Inside Out-WAOM on the standard version is amazing.
Shan Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) It's not the number of tracks that bother me. It makes sense to have a 14 track version, but it should be a mixed up best of, not just cut off. Anyway, it doesn't matter. People need to get over this standard/deluxe/super deluxe mess. Just because a song is on the deluxe doesn't mean M thought it was inferior, that's just how she felt the track list flowed the best. I couldn't imagine the SEX/Messiah/RH sequence to be any different. BN sounds so great right after WAOM. Inside Out leads perfectly into WAOM and follows the vibe of HW perfectly. So... Yeah the standard deluxe thing means nothing. We have all 25 songs. Just listen to them. It's not like you have to stop at WAOM. It's just straight up nit picking at this point! Platinum Gold Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I love the "Quicker than a ray of light" sample When she raps "I saw a ray of light" you have listen closely
Guest CJM Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I love the "Quicker than a ray of light" sample When she raps "I saw a ray of light" you have listen closely omg!!!!
JimmyJimmy Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THIS ISN'T ON THE STANDARD?!!! I know the standard is redundant but really? Holy Water over this?!!! Can you please shut the fuck up and stop comparing every song to Holy Water? Thank you very much. I can see why this song didn't make the standard edition. I love it from the bottom of my heart and I think it's another great addition to M's catalogue but idk...I think the verses as cute and cheeky they are come off as a bit forced and distorted. Nevertheless, the song is great and I'm glad it's on the album. I actually pretend the 14-track version doesn't exist because the only real thing is the 19-track edition and the 5 songs that are not on the "standard" shouldn't be viewed as bonus tracks, either.
Jazzy Jan Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Mattress, love your Madonna gif review of the song. It is so epic.
Messiah Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I still find Nas unnecessary on this track... imo, It could have been much better if she sang this one alone and instead of Nas's rap, include that killer instrumental.
Messiah Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Yes, until 0:07. It's literally repeated through much of the song. i'm such a flop fan, I actually never thought of the Holiday sample.
Guest Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I love the "Quicker than a ray of light" sample When she raps "I saw a ray of light" you have listen closely omg I did not notice that
Guest CJM Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Can you please shut the fuck up and stop comparing every song to Holy Water? Thank you very much. Wah wah wah poor baby. Am I going to hurt your precious Holy Water's feelings? It was a comment about this and Sex? Who fucking cares? Why reduce yourself to personally insulting people? Pathetic.
thelament Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I love the "Quicker than a ray of light" sample When she raps "I saw a ray of light" you have listen closely I've been wondering what that noise in the background is forever! Thanks for pointing it out
Guest Pud Whacker Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I am completely obsessed with "Veni Vidi Vici"... verse two is orgasmic leaving me no choice but to repost this: I expressed myself came like a virgin down the aisle Exposed my naked ass and I did it with a smile And when it came to sex I know I walked the borderline And when I struck a pose all the gay boys lost their minds
mnino Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I justified my love I made you say a little prayer They had me crucified you know I had to take it there I opened up my heart I learned the power of good-bye I saw a ray of light music saved my life I came, I saw, I conquered. -Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone YOU HAVE JUST CREATED THE VENI VIDI VICI INTERLUDE FOR THE UPCOMING TOUR!
Moka Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 The refrain and the references to oldies, all of this is amazing! And also the horns! But I'm not a fan of rap...Overall it's a good song. I would put it with Iconic and Illuminati, songs that are not really "Rebel" nor "Heart" but still good experimentations.
Alessandro Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Nas rap is EVERYTHING. Not feeling Madonna's rap, especially the 'I saw a Ray of Light'... For real? I can't .... VVV is amazing because of M only!!!
Soma Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I absolutely love that she is sampling and making references to her own music on this album!! And VVV is awesome track. I enjoy the the joyride, lyrics and all. I don't understand why people are so negative about her references! I mean, if someone is allowed to that, is this POP SOVEREIGN! And Nas' rap is so strong, love it!!
Roland Barthes Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Can somebody please write the lyrics to Nas rap ? It seems like he's talking about Ferguson at one point or am i just hearing what i wanna hear ?
