Amzer801 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I saw this movie before becoming a big M fan and knowing how dreadful her acting is but I enjoyed it (maybe because it was with French dubbing). Except for Abbie and Robert growing into enemies so quickly.

"oh it sucks, its the worst movie of her career!" he was like, "i thought she was great and it was good" when i hung up, i thought, "why did i just destroy his experience with it?" I was very harsh on this film. I didn't like it. Rupert played a totally unbelievable character. Screen Writing 101: write characters you like. Put them into a sympathetic scenario. In the beginning of the film, Madonna's character was there. But then they fucked it up by turning her into a manipulative liar, without giving her just cause. Where this script went, I don't know. They lost the plot in the middle of writing it. Schlesinger was better than this. But I guess he was getting 'out there' as he got older. The same thing happened to Kubrick when he made that piece of shit 'Eyes Wide Shut'.

It just didnt nake any since. It should have been an goofy comedy or a sad drama. Not a failed mix of both... And well yeah The acting is just bad. And The weird light/shadow It so ridicilous! Funny that NPH also mentioned this recently in Wendy show. Nice soundtrack but other than that, rest in peace.

He's my favorite film maker. I just didn't like Eyes Wide Shut. He should have just gone all out and made an awesome porn film, and left out all the Tom and Nicole 'family mid-life crisis' bullshit. The worst thing about that film is that Tom didn't invite his wife to the sex party. They could have had a swell old time. We should start a Kubrick thread in the Cinema section.

From the perspective of craft or art it is obviously a tone deaf disaster.

Madonna had plenty of chances to get acting right and never did. Most of the material was shit, but her acting is worse. The next best thing was the worst acting of hers out of any movie she ever did makes Swept Away look like a masterpiece.The lighting, the shadows on her forehead as well as around her mouth to highlight her eyes is the same lighting used in Body Of Evidence. looks like shit and stupid

Even Christina fans loved Burlesque and made it a decent hit at the box office. Hell! Freacking Jlo, whose movies aren't better than Madonna's STILL has box office power Madonna's fanbase is bigger than theirs. But her fans always complain about her movies.
