Guest boytoyville
I think that Usher has huge potential to climb this list. I bet he will get at least two number one's from his next album.

Guest Beautiful Stranger
You know Mariah is gunning for The Beatles. Be rest assured that the download for her next albums' lead off single will be with held for as long as possible, allowing for a huge sales week that will take her to #1 on the Hot 100 and allow her to surpass Elvis. No doubt MC and her lambs will do everything in their psychotic, obsessive power to make sure she surpasses the Beatles LOL

Guest Beautiful Stranger
still would be an achievement wouldn't it? now, we need someone to assassinate her. Yeah, but whats the point of having these chart achievements if they were not reached fairly or if they were manipulated? But that would be assuming that the charts have some greater importance or meaning and are fair and perfect to begin with, whch is completely wrong. Nightshade
Considering how U.S. radio seems to have a never-ending love for generic hiphop, I am sure Mariah will succeed in her endeavor. Unfortunately.
Guest xoom
ugh! mariah! i just find it frustrating because her songs have just been so mediocre (for the most part). at least with elvis, the beatles and michael jackson, you can appreciate that they made some GREAT songs... even if you're not into their music. but, mariah... ugh! even so, i'd like to see madonna score a few more #1's. my guess is that her next best chance will have to be a ballad. she needs to remind people of the softer side of madonna. some of her most memorable songs were ballads (crazy for you, live to tell, take a bow). Only BOMT hit #1. Britney floundered on the Hot 100 early in her career because her label didn't release commerical singles for most of the releases that followed, to drive up her album sales. goldtooth
Mariah probably just looks at it like a job. Doesn't everyone want to be the most successful at what they do? I think she does a pretty good job at it too. Score #1 singles, sell albums...Check!

Or at least translate that level of US success to a global scale. But more power to her though I guess. I'd trade bank accounts anyday.

Guest Beautiful Stranger
thats cos she sings in french, non? Partly, as she does have a TON of French language albums, which were big sellers there. But her studio albums in the mid to late 90's had massive sales there. Diddy wil get another one, at least as a ft. artist. Sean Paul had a #1 this year. And Celine is the least of the divas when it comes to the Hot 100, she'll be the last one to get another Hot 100 #1. Especially considering that any future Celine single will NOT make the Top 20 of the Hot 100 Airplay chart.

I can totally picture Celine doing another ballad for some big hit movie again similar to Titanic... She always seems pretty good at that. Perhaps when her Vegas show ends she will do that... Ever since she started that show she seems focused on that only and doesn't do much else promotion-wise Yeah, maybe Diddy will get one as a feat. artist, but I can't picture him having a solo #1... HolidayGuy
"Beautiful Day" peaked in the 20s, I think- that was when physical singles faded into oblivion, and airplay rankings were nearly interchangeable with Hot 100 ranks. When you see some acts ith #1s and realize that Bruce Springsteen and James Brown have ZERO, and Aretha Franklin has 2, etc. it puts things in grand perspective. While Mimi's a whole lot better than Westlife, she would be the USA's Westlife in terms of the list of acts with the most #1s and sticking out like a sore thumb.
