Madonna

I did not change 'Girls Gone Wild' because of Joe Whatshisname

Madonna did NOT change the name of "Girls Gone Wild" because of threats from "Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis -- this according to her manager, Guy Oseary.

Oseary tells TMZ ... he found it laughable that Francis claimed victory after allegedly sending Madonna a cease and desist letter, ordering her not to perform her single "Girls Gone Wild" at the Super Bowl. In fact, Oseary says no one from team Madonna ever received the letter.

As for Madonna changing the name of the song to "Girl Gone Wild," Oseary says they've been tweaking the album for weeks, and decided to make the word "Girl" singular because that's the way Madonna sings it in the song.

Oseary says they have tweaked other titles on the album as well.

And Oseary scoffs at Francis' claim that he owns the title, "Girls Gone Wild," citing a Billboard story that claims there are 50 records called "Girls Gone Wild," including songs by Ludacris, Jagged Edge, T Mills, Lee Kernaghan, Lil Rick and Jackie Kashian.

And finally, Oseary says Madonna doesn't even know who Joe Francis is ... and claims she's completely unaware he's been making threats.

Take that, Joe Francis.

I like the song. I like the vocals. It has a sing-a-long quality to it that's been missing from a lot of her music for a while that I think the general public (specifically females) will like.

I think the song will do well simply for the fact that there is a lot of negativity here. I think someone has mentioned this in another thread somewhere but when Hung Up was released it got a very similar reaction! Now it's a classic and COADF is one of her best albums!

Overall though it really doesn't bother me what other people think, I enjoy it, and I think I will enjoy the album so really that's enough for me. GGW is already better then half the crap on the radio at the moment anyway. Both songs, GMAYL and GGW have a "happy" sound to them which, even before she described Solveig's music as "happy", I said here that I hoped she'd make a "happy" sounding album. I am surprised that she didn't lead the album with this song and perform this at the Superbowl! Even though GMAYL had the cheerleader theme to tie in with the SB this seems like a stronger single.

Can't wait to see her perform this live and I can't wait for the video or the album! Only 4 weeks to go!

It's definitely better than "GMAYL", both music and lyrics. Also better than "Celebration, Revolver and 4 Minutes"; but not better than "Give It 2 Me", "Miles Away" or any of Confessions singles. It would be easily her best since "Sorry" with a better production.

Not sure how I feel yet... I don't think I like it all that much. Hate to say that... I really wanted to love it. I had a feeling this was how it was going to sound, based on the title. Reminds me too much of the Celebration mix. Also, I'm not a fan of the intro... It's a cheaper, much less believable Act of Contrition. And the spoken "forgive me" is Sorry all over again. I thought Madonna didn't like to repeat herself?

Am I the only one who is DYING to hear a brilliant pop song sung with passion (Papa Don't Preach, Vogue, Deeper and Deeper, Ray of Light)??? I feel like she's hardly even singing in this song. Everything she does lately is kinda bland :(.

Ok verses, bad chorus, stupid bridge. Ok I guess I do know how I feel about this song

Im looking forward to getting sweaty to this in the clubs. Love the verses but the chorus just lacks a bit and the vocals seem a bit low in the mix. Still I have it on repeat and it keeps growing on me so fuck it.

These are WAYYY better than the original. Insane with good headphones!!

Her vocals are much more clear on the remix and there are several BETTER build ups on the remix.

already listened remix more than original which is flat in comparison..

No, wait, it can actually BE worse than the Flavorwire review... ladies and gentlemen please welcome Roger Friedman!

Madonna's New Music Rehashes 1984 Cyndi Lauper

Madonna‘s new single is out-”lyric” videos have surfaced on YouTube. And it’s worse than you can imagine. Madonna rehashes 1984 Cyndi Lauper with this lyrics: “Girls they just wanttto have fun.” It’s a recurring line from her new song, “Girls Gone Wild.” Porn instigator Joe Franvis i already angry that Madonna has chosen his trademark line for the title of the song. But now the lyrics show that the best Madonna can come up with is a rip off of Cyndi Lauper from three decades ago.

The astonishing thing about this is that Lauper has always been the Madonna also ran–a real musician and composer who’s been overshadowed by her rival since they each started their careers. Madonna is in the Rock Hall; Lauper is not. Lauper writes her own music and has released some of the most underappreciated albums of the last 20 years without a lot of money behind her.

Madonna, who’s made millions and had the record company support, has now stooped to “quoting” Lauper’s signature hit in a lame effort to put out a new song. And this is Madonna’s second single from her unreleased MDNA album in less than a month. This is not a good sign for the new record deal she got with Interscope. Really? Is she really going to sing “Girls, they just want to have some fun?” What’s next? “99 Balloons”?

I love the song, too and MY opinion is worth more than Friedman’s… Seriously, this old man is bitter and out of touch. I guess it’s true what they say… Those who CAN’T….write about those who CAN. Can SOMEONE from Forbes PLEASE put this old horse out to pasture???? LOL!!!!

I listened to GGW about 10 times and last night and today can't remember anything about it other than it has a spoken intro and the line "girls just wanna have fun".

the remix really does bring her vocals alive. and i like it better then the original version we've heard. just wish it had the intro. it's a strong song and a flattering remix. the single has a good chance i think.

i will say this about mr benassi; "be4 too long i'm gonna start to wonder, are you a one trick pony?"
